THE early stages of a mental health consumer and carer council has begun following a workshop bringing together more than 20 people from diverse backgrounds last week.

The Mental Health and Wellbeing Local in Mildura held the event to help shape the new council, which will aim to play a key role in guiding the service to ensure it reflects the needs of the community.
