MILDURA Base Public Hospital's $3.9 million state-of-the-art paediatric unit is expected to be fully operational by the end of next month after the Victorian Government confirmed a funding commitment for staffing.

The new eight-room unit, which will enable a parent to stay overnight with their child, was completed last August but has never been staffed.
