AMBULANCE Victoria (AV) is urging people to "play your part, be summer-smart" as the weather heats up.

"We want everyone to enjoy summer, but also be careful and do what you can to reduce any major incidents happening," AV acting Mildura team manager Charles Albanese said.

"We do live in an area where it's extremely hot and we have extreme weather. So we do need to play our part and be sun-smart...
