MILDURA Base Hospital has welcomed a Victorian Government health funding boost that promises to bolster regional hospital workforces.

The government is investing $2.4 million in a bid to get more junior doctors into regional hospitals.

The funding will allow many regional hospitals to offer two-year contracts to medical interns, who previously have been guaranteed only one year.
