Telstra works set for Wenty

WENTWORTH residents and visitors who use the Telstra network will soon benefit from an upgrade to the district’s 4G and 5G networks.

The planned works are being carried out later in July and could come with service disruptions for some users.

“We know how important mobile connectivity is for Australians, whether you’re in the city or the country,” said Steve Tinker, Telstra’s regional general manager for Northern and Western Victoria.

“It will deliver more capacity to the region, meaning faster downloads, smoother streaming, and less congestion.

“Some disruption is required while the upgrade is underway, but we’ll only be switching off the site when we need to and will have it back online and working better than ever as quickly as possible.”

As part of the works, Wentworth mobile phone and date site will be switched off on Tuesday, July 22 from 8am to 5pm, and then from Wednesday, July 23, at 8am to Thursday, July 24 at 5pm.

There will also be interruptions to the network throughout the day on Friday, July 25.

A statement from Telstra said planned works will be completed sector by sector, with technicians only switching off the site when needed and aiming to have services back online as quickly as possible.

Telstra mobile customers will also receive texts advising of the upcoming work.

Other service like landline phones as well as NBN, satellite or Starlink internet services, as well as mobile services from non-Telstra-based service providers, will not be impacted.
