WENTY Golf Course is coming alive with lots of work being done by our valued volunteers to make the most of the spring/summer growing season by spreading loads of loam and repairing/replacing lots of sprinklers. And our players are showing their appreciation.
Thursday, August 14 Stableford Comp was well attended. Captain Bill Slee is returning to some form to beat a mediocre field — sorry, Bill — on a six-over handicap 30 points, followed one behind by Howard Hankinson on 29 points. Barry Quayle was third on 28 points-a very close finish from first to third. Mr Risky pink ball went to Jeff Fush with 22 points — not bad for last place, Jeff. Nobody lobbed a ball onto a Green for an NTP measure, so we keep the bottle of wine.
Mr Consistent, Barry Quayle, got amongst the chocolates on Sunday, August 17 with a handicap-equal 36 Stableford points. Well done, Razzle-Dazzle-Bazil.
Second on 35 was Howard Hankinson with Garry Bourke sneaking into third place with 34.
The good news for Jed Chapman was he won the NTP wine with 175cm on the 17th — the bad news for Jed was he took home the Mr Risky Pink ball, though I don’t have a score.
We play comp every Thursday and Sunday, tee-off at 9.30am. Everybody welcome.RIVERSIDE
WITH the Ladies and Men’s Championships in full swing, the question to ask is, what would most golfers like to mark up in their golfing life?
Winning their grade in the championships, or sinking a hole in one?
Well, one golfer has no need to hunt for the later any longer. Kevin Eastwood, one of Riverside’s longtime members, played the ultimate shot, on the 18th, to be honoured on the Hole in One Board.
Congratulations Kevin, very deserving.
