VETERANS

ON Monday, July 14, 39 members competed in the club championships.

Conditions were cool and clear with a great course presented to all, sponsored by Country Hearing Care. Our 2025 Champion is David Gardiner with 80 shots.

A Grade scratch winner was Jill Gleeson and net John Green. B Grade scratch winner was Wendy Dawson and net Maurice Munro.

NTPs: 3rd – Barry Pilgrim 525cm, Jill Gleeson 137cm second shot, 7th – David Doering 483cm, 11th – Claude Dawson 234cm, 18th – John Green 652cm.

Balls: (10) 79 points. Ball draw winner was Claude Dawson.

The next competition will be a two person Ambrose on August 4 at Red Cliffs sponsored by The Vines Retirement Village.

We are still looking for a secretary, so if you can handle a computer and enjoy golf and have a few spare minutes, you are most welcome and Brian has agreed to assist in the initial take over.

RIVERSIDE

IAN Davis landed a mighty 40 point on Sunday, July 13, to win the medley Stableford event from runner-up Nick Ietto on 35 points.

Balls: (7) 33 points on a countback.

NTPs: Zilzie Wines 4th – Tom Till 300cm, 7th – Chris D’Amico 550cm and 12th – Ang D’Amico 250cm.

It was a nine-hole Stableford for the ladies on Tuesday with Meg Hamence taking home the win with 16 points.

Mitchell Christensen had the overall best score in the men’s Monthly Award on Wednesday, with an excellent 99/68.

The A Grade win went to Tim Peterson, who shot 71 off the stick for an outstanding 69 net. A countback was need for second place, seeing Lachlan Faulkhead 79/70 using his luck to just sneak in front of Tom Colbert on 82/70.

Mason Warn 94/73 also underwent a countback to gain his place as winner in B Grade, knocking Tom Till 102/73 back to runner-up.

The ladies played for their Monthly Medal on Thursday and it needed a countback to determine Lyn Thompson as the winner on 115/75 in front of runner-up Wendy Dawson 98/75.

Friday saw Lachlan Clarke winning the nine-hole medley Stableford on 20 points over runner-up Oscar Baumgurtel with 18 points.

Balls: (10) 16 points.

Margie Lampard had a winning round on Saturday in the ladies Stableford coming in with 35 points from runner-up Sandy Briggs on 31 points.

NTPs: Zizle Wines 4th – Roylene Bailey 780cm, 12th – Roylene Bailey 520cm and 18th – Margie Lampard 128cm.

Saturday’s men’s Stableford was played in three grades with Larry Cavallaro taking out A Grade on 35 points from Chris O’Brien on 33 points after a countback against David Williams.

Tony Coppola had 37 points and left with the win in B Grade over runner-up Brent Smith on 36 points.

A score of 40 points gave Poyo Kirirua a great win in C Grade in front of runner-up Maurie Munro, on 38 points.

Balls: (17) 33 point on a countback.

RED CLIFFS

LAST Wednesday the men played a Stableford event with 37 players taking to the course.

Finn Cupper claimed top honours with a strong 41 points from runner-up Roger Walder with 39 points on a countback.

Balls: (7) 39 to 35 points.

NTPs: 8th – Steven Begg 385cm – Chemist Warehouse, 12th – Paul Dominelli 398cm – Lucky Dip, 17th – Neville Birch 312cm – Drummond Golf, 18th – Tony Johns 815cm – Red Cliffs Club.

The ladies played a 4BBB par last Wednesday with 20 players in the field. Deb Dark and Caroline James stormed to victory with a score of 11 up, securing the L. Walmsley-sponsored trophy in fine style. Runners-up were Glenys Murray and Deirdre Merlin with 7 up with Lee Bottomley and Rita Chase third with 5 up – 1 ball each.

NTPs: 8th – Helen Wood 599cm – Chemist Warehouse, 12th – Caroline James 22cm – Red Cliffs Bakery, 15th – Jill Gleeson 49cm – Bread & Butter, 17th – Deb Dark 655cm – Gio’s Coffee Voucher.

On Saturday, 84 players teed for a medley aggregate Stableford event.

Ben Hogan and Chris Thomas surged to victory with a commanding score of 77 points. Greg Young and Thomas Minns finished on 75 points after a countback to secure the runner-up voucher.

Balls: (10) 75 to 67 points on a countback.

MERBEIN

LAST Wednesday a Stableford event was held with Gavin Hocking on 34 points taking the win from runner-up Frank Crouch on a countback.

Saturday’s par winner was Paul Mulder with +3 from runner-up Greg Marshall with -2.

Ball: (1) -2 on a countback.

Tomorrow is a Stableford event and Saturday is the Captain v President Stableford event.

WENTWORTH

THURSDAY’s Stableford competition was won by Glen Walker with 31 points. One point behind was Bill Slee and Gary Bourke took home the ball for third place on a countback from Bill.

Jeff Fush scored the pink ball with 18 points and Bill Slee won the NTP prize with 875cm on the second.

Barry Quayle got back on the winners list on Sunday with 34 points, winning on a countback from Glen Walker. Gary Bourke came in third – again – for the ball and Janine Chapman took home the Pink Ball on 22 points.

Tee-off is every Thursday and Sunday at 9.30am playing Stableford and visitors are most welcome. With 18 grassed fairways, tees and greens, lots of kangaroos and emus and a warm licensed clubhouse finish off the round, Wentworth is a great golfing experience.
