Wentworth

Last Thursday, we welcomed visitors Jeff Fusch and Graham Hartlet.

Stableford scores were not really great but we all had a good laugh.

Glen Walker took home the $$$ with a score of 33 followed by Ronnie Moore on 31. Ged Chapman won the ball with 27 points, also winning the NTP prize with 590cm on the 8th Par 3. Graeme Hartlett played with the Pink Ball and guess what? He ‘won’ it again.

On Sunday, we had a good turnout on what started as a nice day.

Good scores were the order of the day with Paul Schmidt winning 2-under Par 38, with Gary Bourke second with 36 points.

Barry Quayle came in third with 35 for the ball and Paul Schmidt won the NTP wine prize with 647cm on the 17th.

Vicki Appleton took home the Pink ball with 25 points.

Riverside

ADAM Kiel played a very nice round in A Grade on Sunday June 22 in the Medley Stableford, taking a comfortable win with his 38 points. A three way countback was needed to decide the runner-up, with Nicholas George coming out the better, in front of Steven Batchelor and Brendan Rodgers, all on 34 points.

Lacie Coffey (Mildura) would have been over the moon with her game, with a mighty 41 points to win B Grade, from Scoffy Atkinson’s fine 40 points.

Balls: (12) 32 points on a countback.

Reece Merlin played the Par five, 14th with precision, leaving with an Eagle.

The Ladies played Stroke in their nine hole comp on Tuesday with Bec Olsen marking up a nice win on 38 nett, over Jan Lloyd on 40 nett.

Balls: (3) 41 nett on a countback.

NTP: Adel Dal Corobbo 630cm.

Wednesday was Stableford for the Men, in two grades, with the placings in both exactly the same.

Bodan Bishop was on top in A Grade, with 38 points, from Malcolm Kalms 37 points.

The B Grade 38 point winner was Rory Nutter, over Rob Arnold, one behind on 37 points.

Balls: (13) 33 points on a countback.

An Eagle on the Par four 17th came from Alan Gourlay, with two superb shots.

NTPs: 4th – Chris O’Brien 213cm, Cooks Pools and Spa’s 7th – Bodan Bishop, Sunbeam Fruits 17th Alan Gourlay 0cm and Good Deal Tyres 18th – Alan Gourlay 590cm.

Chitra Rankin had a lovely round to win the Drummonds Golf Stableford, on 36 points, from Lyn Thompson’s 35 points.

Balls (3) 33 points.

NTPs: Zilzie Wines 4th – Selma Mayne 222cm, 12th – Pat Riordan 168cm and 18th Janette Mason a Birdie.

At this stage there has only been one match in the second round on the Match play to have been completed, with Tracy Lee defeating Chitra Rankin (5/3).

Friday’s nine hole, Medley Stableford saw John Kennedy winning after a battle with Geoff Plant, both on 21 points.

Balls: (19) 17 points on a countback.

The Ladies contested their Monthly Award on Saturday with Margie Lampard leaving with a win, after her (91/74), in front of Sandy Briggs (99/77).

Balls: (3) 78 nett.

NTP: 7th – Tracey Bryan 780cm, 12th – Margie Lampard a Birdie and 18th – Lisa Garioch 22cm.

The Men’s Monthly Medal on Saturday, drew a good field and required three Grades.

Andrew Thomas would have been pleased with his win in A Grade after a super (74/70), with four players vying for second place. Michael Holcroft (77/72) used his luck to take runner up, followed by, Craig Jervis (80/72), Sean Baumgurtel (Coomealla – 74/72) and David Williams (81/72).

Junior Pula (Red Cliffs) played an exceptional game (86/69), to take the B Grade Medal, from Barry Pilgram on (84/72).

The round of the day came in C Grade, from Clayton Clifford on an outstanding (90/67), to be rewarded with the Medal, over runner up, Gary McNally on (100/70).

A special general meeting will be held on Saturday, July 5, at 5.30pm at Merbein Golf Club. The meeting will propose a resolution to the rules of the Merbein Golf Club constitution. All members are welcome to attend.
