VETERANS

ON Monday, June 2, 58 players competed in a single Stableford event held at Riverside Golf Club sponsored by Merbein Club.

A Grade was won by Barry Pilgrim with 38 points from runner-up Wayne Innes with 35 points from third placed Ken Upton with 33 points.

Geoff Cameron cleaned up in B Grade with 40 points from runner-up Maurice Munro on 38 points with Alan Connell and distant third with 33 points.

Balls: (11) 30 points.

NTPs (sponsored by Zilzie Wines): 4th – Wendy Dawson 53cm; 7th – Barry Pilgrim 202cm; 12th – Brian Bird 89cm, Maree Irvin 30cm; 18th – Leonie Cramp 630cm.

The June 16 event that was to be held at Ouyen has been cancelled due to course conditions resulting from unpredicted weather.

The next event will be a stroke event to be held at Coomealla Golf Club on July 14, for the club championship sponsored by Country Hearing Care.

MILDURA

WOMEN’S American Foursomes stroke was played on Tuesday, June 2 (18 holes): Glenda Hiskens and Fran Thornton 73.75 from runners-up Ann Bowen and Helen Treacy 74.12.

Balls: (6) 73.75 to 75.75.

NTPs: 2nd Trentham Estate – Ann Bowen 303cm, 12th Zilzie Wines – Ann Bowen 163cm.

The nine hole event was taken out by Christine Hartley and Isobel Westhead with 40.75.

Last Wednesday, the men played stroke for the TWW / Ransoms Monthly Medal.

A Grade: Ron Casey net 70 on a countback from runner-up Robert Morgan, third Les Williams net 73.

B Grade: Brian Bird net 69, runner-up Tom Ryan net 70, third Jeff Chalmers net 71.

C Grade: Peter Palazzo net 70, runner-up Ian Nimon net 73, third Dominic Ghidinelli net 74.

Balls: (23) net 69 to net 75 on a countback.

NTPs: 2nd Pig – Tim Donaldson 168cm, 10th Trentham Estate – Maurice Warn 70cm, 12th Zilzie Wines – Tom Ryan 250cm.

On Friday the women played Stableford, Tracy Katis had 30 points with Gayle Ford on 29 points.

Saturday was a stroke event for the Monthly Medal.

Josef Moisidis won A Grade on a three-way countback with Trevor Spanos and Maurice Warn, all on net 74.

Phillip Moisidis made it a family affair by winning B Grade with net 71 from Jonathan Villiva on net 72 with Ross Williams third on a countback with net 73.

C Grade was won by Peter Palazzo, a clear winner with net 71 from runner-up Rod Truman on a countback with Tony Beyen, both net 76.

Balls: (24) net 71 to net 78 on a countback.

NTPs: 2nd Pig – Robert Young 491cm, 12th Zilzie Wines – Will Anderson 876cm, The Ranfurly – Tony Beyen 8 points.

RIVERSIDE

ON the first day of winter Tom Colbert was running hot, winning A Grade in the Sunday medley Stableford with a sizzling 40 points from runner-up Travis Biddle with 38 points.

Harry Heuzenroeder was on top in B Grade with 38 point points to take the win from runner-up Stephen Rose (Thaxled Park) with 36 points.

Balls: (12) 34 points.

NTPs: Zilzie Wines 4th – Jake Kiel, 7th – Mitchell Christiensen, 12th – Michael Wade and 18th – Keenan Wade.

The ladies nine-hole winner on Tuesday was Marie Hudak with 16 points, on a countback from runner-up Sally Watson.

It was Stableford for the men on Wednesday in two grades.

Graeme Southwell took the win in A Grade, with 35 points in front of Claude Dawson with 33 points.

Ashley Innes had a good day finishing on 38 points to be the B Grade winner over runner-up Mitch Stevens with 35 points.

Balls: (9) 32 points.

NTPs: 4th – Graeme Southwell 465cm, 7th – Jeff Riordan 550cm, Sunbeam Fruits 17th – Brad Surgey 1500cm and Good Deal Tyres 18th – Paul Wilkinson 225cm.

On Thursday the ladies competed for their Monthly Medal and Putting, with Heather Klemm pocketing the Medal and the Putting trophies. Heather had 99 off the stick for 74 net. It was a three-way countback for second place with Maree Irvin (102/76) the lucky one, followed by Lyn Thompson (117/76) and Tracy Lee (100/76).

Balls: (3) 76 net.

NTPs: Zilzie Wines 4th – Tracy Lee 1070cm, 12th – Suzy Conquest 510cm and 18th – Chitra Rankin 10cm.

On a bitterly cold and rainy day on Friday saw Chris D’Amico winning with 22 points from runner-up Brent Smith on 20 points.

Balls: (11) 15 points.

Saturday’s weather wasn’t a lot better with the wintery blast hanging around. The game, being a medley 4BBB aggregate Stableford, was won by the pair of Scott Webster (SGA) and Lauchlan Rohde with 73 points in front of runners-up Leigh Fuller and Kane Heeps on 71 points.

Balls: (8) 65 points.

NTPs: Zilzie Wines 4th – Greg Butcher 252cm, 7th – Maree Irvin 410cm, 12th – Leigh Fuller 205cm, Sunbeam Fruits 17th – Leigh Fuller 105cm and Good Deal Tyres 18th – Michael Wade 195cm.

COOMEALLA

COMING events: Tomorrow is par, Friday is a nine-hole medley Stableford, Saturday is a stroke event for the Monthly Medal and Sunday is a medley Stableford.

B Grade: David Guild 38 points, runner-up Ron Hunt 35 points, third Bryce Neyland 34 points.

A Grade: Michael White 42points, runner-up Ben Burns 40 points, third Jeremy Blake 35 points

Sunday was a medley Ambrose in fours: Kerry Grimmer, Chris Grimmer, Josh Valentich, Greg Rhodes 54.5 net, runners-up Lee Bottomley, Darren Bottomley, Jodene Tuau, Dennis Williams 55 net, third Lordan Tucker, Lee Tucker, Nate Wade, Nik Wade 56 net.

NTPs: 7th – Lisa Garioch 22cm, 11th – Troy Neville 39cm, 18th – Lee Bottomley 121cm.

Teams Challenge winners: Chad Henley, Tyler Henley, Ben Burns, Andrew Walker 44.37.
