VETERANS

THE next game is the Mildura Gateway Single Stableford event to be held at the Riverside Golf Club on Monday, June 22.

There will also be an additional event this month which will be a 4BBB Stableford at the Ouyen Golf Club on June 16.

This is always a great day and well worth the trip down as they provide great hospitality and prizes.

Competitions are held on the first Monday of the month with registration from 8.30am and a shotgun start at 9.30am.

The cost of joining is a one off fee of $15 and then the additional green fee of $25 which includes lunch.

Locally you have to be 50 years of age to qualify but you must be 55 for all other states around Australia.

MILDURA

LAST Tuesday the ladies played stroke for the Monthly Medal and putting.

Anne Dews took out the 18-hole medal with net 71 from runner-up Kim Ingram on net 72.

The nine-hole event was won by Fran Thornton on a countback with Denise Clohesy, both on net 36.

Balls: (4) net 71 to net 74.

NTPs: 10th Trentham Estate – Michelle Blair 62cm, 12th Zilzie Wines – Jan Mierswa 570cm.

Putts: Eily Raeck 30 putts on a countback.

On Wednesday, the men played par.

A Grade: Ross Williams on a countback from Wayne Mayne, both on +2.

B Grade: Lachlan Dowdy on a countback from Gavan Telefson, both on +3.

On Friday, the ladies played Stableford with Bev Matthews taking the win 34 points from runner-up Ann Dews with 31 points.

Saturday’s event was a medley Stableford played in three grades.

Gary Fumberger took the win on 38 points in A Grade from runner-up Jeff Giddings with 37 points.

Tom Ryan, with the best score of the day, on 41 points saluted in B Grade from runner-up Tony Beyen on 40 points.

C Grade was won by Carter Bush with 37 points from runner-up Graeme Tulloch on 36 points.

ON Thursday, May 15, Bill Slee had 41 Stableford points to take the win from runner-up Garry Bourke on 37 points.

Ball: (1) 30 points.

Mr Risky went to Howard Hankinson on 28 points.

NTP: 2nd – Garry Bourke 510cm.

On Sunday, May 18, Paul Schmidt won with 35 Stableford points followed closely behind by Vicki Appleton on 32 points.

Ball: (1) 31 points.

NTP: 8th – Barry Quayle 600cm.

Garry Bourke took home Mr Risky with 21 points.

ON Sunday Max Hodges 34 points to win the Stableford competition from runner-up Gary Clarke (Pooncarie) on 33 points.

Ball: (1) 33 points on a countback.

Mr Risky went to Jeffro Hatfield with 26 points.

NTP: 17th – Paul Schmidt 180cm.

A Stableford event will be held on Thursday.

On Sunday, June 1, a 2BBB will be played with registration at 9am with tee off at 9.30am. BYO lunch, drinks available at the bar.

RIVERSIDE

ON Sunday, May 18, a medley Stableford was was played in two grades.

A Grade was won by Johnathan Villiva (Mildura), with Angelo D’Ameco runner-up after a countback against Rocky Pipicella.

Ian Davis played well in B Grade and took the win on 36 points with Clayton Clifford runner-up on a countback with Todd George, both on 35 points.

Balls: (10) 32 points on a countback.

NTPs: 4th Zilzie Wines – Josh Fleming 123cm, 7th – David Martin 78cm, 12th – Angelo D’Ameco 410cm and 18th – Michael Wade 317cm.

Last Tuesday the ladies played a nine-hole Stableford with Sally Watson’s 18 points giving her the win from Kathy Ridley on 17 points.

NTP: 18th – Kathy Ridley 345cm.

The medley 18-hole Stableford was won by Gavin Minter with 34 points.

Last Wednesday was Stableford for the men and was played in two grades.

Chris D’Amico had a fantastic round of 43 points to walk away with the win in A Grade, five in front of runner-up Wayne Innes on 38 points.

Mitchell Christensen had 37 points to win B Grade, with a countback needed for second place, which was taken by Alan Connolly on 33 points from John Denman.

Thursday was the ladies Visitors Day which was run as an Aggregate Stableford with drawn partners.

The winning pair on the day were Heather Klemm and Lyn Thompson with a combined score of 65 points on a countback from Suzie Conquest and ???.

The daily competition winner after a countback was Heather Klemm from Tracy Lee, both on 37 points.

17th hole: Straightest drive went to Kay Hart.

Friday’s nine-hole medley Stableford was won by Rob Arnold on 20 points after a countback with runner-up Harvey Spratt.

The Riverside Oasis Auto Service Open Tournament was contested on the weekend.

LAST Wednesday the men played a par event with 33 golfers taking to the course.

Paul Dominelli had +4 take the win from runner-up Robert Chase +3.

A Grade: Matthew Forward net 71 from runner-up Brett Overton net 72 on a countback.

B Grade: Allan Brown net 73 from runner-up Rex Lawn net 75 on a countback.

The ladies also played monthly stroke on Saturday with 21 playes taking to the fairways. Jenny Gowers and Jill Gleeson both carded net 70 with Gowers winning on countback to take the club trophy.
