COMING events: Today is SA Vets Stableford; tomorrow is Par; Thursday is Vets Stableford; Friday’s a nine-hole medley Stableford (after 1pm); Saturday is a stroke event for the Monthly Medal and Sunday is an 18-hole medley Stableford.

Competition results:

Last Wednesday was a Stableford event.

A Grade: Kane Brown 42 points, runner-up Geoff Tandy 39 points, third Matt Tiley 37 points.

B Grade: Barry Waters 39 points, runner-up Paul Mathews 37 points, third Luke Shelly 36 points.

C Grade: Nino Zappia 38 points, runner-up Rodney Hand 34 points, third Paul Scott 33 points.

Friday was a nine-hole medley Stableford won by Barry Waters on a countback from runner-up Greg Rhodes, both with 20 points.

Friday’s 18-hole medley Stableford was won by Warren Holmes 36 points, runner-up Roberto Fuoco 35 points.

Saturday was the first round of the Coomealla Open daily event (net scores):

LAST Tuesday the women played Stableford with Bev Matthews taking the win on 39 points from runner-up Gayle Ford with 38 points.

Balls: (3) 39-35 points.

NTPs: 2nd Trentham Estate – Ann Bowen 387cm, 10th Trentham Estate – Ruth Rody 57cm, 12th Zilzie Wines – Carla Sherriff 46cm.

The nine-hole Stableford event was won by Kym Mayne with 19 points from runner-up Faye Casey on 16 ponts.

Ball: (1) 19 points.

On Wednesday the men played a par event and Ross Bowen took out A Grade with +2 from runner-up Trevor Spanos on a countback with Josh Bailey, both on +1.

B Grade was won Robert Briggs with +6 from runner-up Wayne Dahmes on +3 with David Healy third with +2.

Robin Hubble took out C Grade with +3 from runner-up Tony Dal Corobbo on +2 with Wayne Davis third with +1.

Balls: (23) +6 down to square on a countback.

On Anzac Day the Dockside Cafe Ambrose in fours was played and the team of Robbin Hubble, Robert Young, Neville Hodgetts and Alan Lay took out the event with net 59.

Saturday’s event was the TWW Monthly Medal stroke event.

A Grade: Geoff Hazeldine net 69, runner-up Robert Pallot net 71, third Lee Tucker net 72.

B Grade: A three was countback was needed to separate the placegetters and Tom Ryan was declared the winner over runner-up Paul Treacy from third placed Ken Byrne, all on net 71.

C Grade: Rod Truman net 70, runner-up Michael Coghlan net 71, third Donald Wall net 73.

Balls: (20) Net 69 to net 75 on a countback.

NTPs: 1st Pete’s Pure – David Murray 195cm, 2nd Pig – David Stevens 298cm, 12th Zilzie Wines – Steven Fumberger 95cm.

RED CLIFFS

LAST Wednesday the ladies played multiplication Stableford and in a strong field of 15 entrants, Faye Englefield and Jill Gleeson emerged victorious with an excellent score of 69 points, claiming the top prize. from runners-up Susan Poole and Marg Fumberger with 61 points. Third place went to Naomi Pitt and Sandy Wright with 58 points.

NTPs: 8th – Susan Poole 415cm (Chemist Warehouse), 12th – Jill Gleeson 190cm (Red Cliffs Bakery), 15th – Jill Gleeson 162cm (Bread & Butter Baker).

In the men’s par competition on Wednesday Ivan Ban dominated with a brilliant score of +3 to claim first place from Ian Doering runner-up on a countback with a score of +1.

Saturday was the men’s 4BBB par qualifying round with a strong turnout of 50 competitors. Tony Johns and Jeffrey Scott combined to post a superb +9 from runners-up Matthew Bird and Ricky Hayes with +7 on countback.

Balls: (4) +7 to +5 on a countback.

Peter Lynch and Allan Brown both scored a hole-in-one.

NTPs: 3rd – Andrew Bateman 999cm (Zira & Co Graphic), 8th – Jeffrey Scott 278cm (RCAM ball), 12th – Peter Lynch 819cm (Plumbtec), 17th – Michael Hogan 921cm ($20 voucher from T&T Wright), 18th – Christopher Chase 419cm (Red Cliffs Club).

On Saturday the ladies played Stableford and Dee Hopkins played exceptionally to secure the win with 34 points from Jill Gleeson runner-up with 29 points.

Balls: (2) 28 points on a countback.

NTPs: 3rd – Catherine Lanigan 282cm (Ron Baird ball), 8th – Bobbie Ramsay 151cm (Irymple Hotel), 12th – Sandy Wright 443cm (Zilzie Wines), 15th – Faye Englefield 74cm (Coke 6 pack).

Sunday’s medley Stableford saw a small but competitive field of nine players. Nicholas Hahnel triumphed with an outstanding 42 points while Mathew Burns finished second with 36 points.
