COOMEALLA 

COMING events: This Wednesday is men’s and women’s Stableford, Friday is the President’s Port medley 12-hole Stableford, Saturday is the season opening medley Stableford and Sunday is a medley Stableford. 

Last Wednesday was a medley Ambrose in twos: Greg Rhodes and David Merry 64 net, runner-up Selfet Kuzu and Fuat Karayilan 64 net, third Joe Morrello and Matt Tiley 65.25 net, fourth Trevor Carroll and Matt Thorpe 66.25 net.

Friday’s medley nine-hole stableford was won by Damian Dolman 20 points, runner-up Sonya Golitschenko 19 points.

Saturday was men’s and women’s stroke and second round of the club championships. 

Men’s daily event: A Grade: Tim Earl 70 net, runner-up Joel Doherty 71 net, third Ashley Whitehouse 72 net. 

B Grade: John Gray 70 net, runner-up David McDonnell 71 net, third Ray Lyons 72 net. 

C Grade: Bohdi Edwards 65 net, runner-up John Blake 68 net, third Cade Lees 68 net. 

Balls: (28) 65 to 74 net.

Sunday’s 18-hole medley Stableford was won by Archie McPhee 42 points, runner-up Phil Maw 37 points.

MILDURA 

LAST Wednesday was a stroke event played in two grades for venue vouchers. 

A Grade was taken out by Jeff Giddings with net 72 from runner-up Jamie Lanyon on a countback from Trevor Spanos, both on net 73. 

The B Grade winner was Anthony Sergi with net 70 from runner-up John Simpson on a countback with Doug Gardner, both on net 71. 

Balls: (19) net 70-75 on a countback. 

NTPs: 2nd Pig – Robin Hubble 347cm, 10th Trentham Estate – Les Williams 121cm, 12th Zilzie wines – Maurice Warn 33cm. 

The ladies 18-hole Stableford played on Friday was won by Gayle Ford on 36 points from runner-up Jenny McCoy with 35 points. 

Balls: (2) 36-35 points. 

Saturday was a medley Stableford for the 2025 opening day. 

Les Williams won A grade with 38 points on a countback from Robert Morgan, with Gary Fumberger third with 37 points. 

Sam Cross cleaned up in B Grade with 45 points from runner-up Rod Ford on 38 points with Ross Williams third with 37 points. 

C Grade was taken out by Tony Dal Corobbo on a countback with Simon Middleton, both on 36 points with Mathew Cattach third on 35 points. 

Balls: (25) 45-34 points on a countback. 

NTPs: 1st Pete’s Pure – Nick Katis 197cm, 2nd Pig – Sam Cross 146cm, 12th Zilzie Wines – Garry Smart 88cm. 

The Ranfurly was taken out by John Green with 10 points. 

The Vets and friends Stableford competiton was won taken out by James Hancock on a countback from Brian Bird, both with 38 points. 

Balls: (2) 36 points on a countback. 

NTPs: 2nd – Geoff Cameron 690cm, 12th – Alan Steedman 74cm. 

Tuesday’s ladies nine-hole Stableford was won by Christine Hartley on a countback from Isobel Westhead, both on 16 points. 

Balls: (2) 16 points. 

The 18-hole Stableford event was won by Margaret Morrison with 33 points after a four-way countback from runner-up Ann Bowen with Michelle Blair and Jan Mierswa just missing out. 

Balls: (4) 33 points. 

NTPs: 1st Pete’s Pure – Michelle Blair 127cm, 2nd Trentham Estate – Michelle Blair 447cm, 10th Trentham Estate – Michelle Blair 88cm, 12th Zilzie – Carla Sherriff 490cm. 


RIVERSIDE 

ON Monday, February 17, a medley Stableford was played and Roberto Fuoco’s had 35 points to take the win from John Denman in second place after a countback with Paul Reed (Tailem Bend), both on 31 points. 

NTP: 18th – Grant Giddings 124cm. 

The ladies nine-hole Stableford played on Tuesday, February 18, was won by May Connolly with 17 points on a countback from Wendy Dawson. 

NTPs: 4th Zilzie Wines – Wendy Dawson 275cm. 

It was stroke for the men last Wednesday, with Chris D’Amico (85/67) picking up the monthly award. 

A countback was needed in A Grade with Trevor Williams (79/70) snagging the win from Damien Arney (80/70). 

John Wass finished with (92/71) to collect the B Grade win with Justin Ebbels (95/73) just sneaking into second place after a countback with Marty Scott (91/73). 

Balls: 74 net on a countback. 

NTPs: Zilzie Wines 4th – Shawn Clarke 60cm, 7th – Rory Nutter 920cm, 12th – Paul Dominelli 371cm, Sunbeam Fruits 17th -Marty Scott 520cm and Good Deal Tyres 18th – Brendon Bower 346cm. 

Chitra Rankin’s had 37 points to win the ladies Stableford on Thursday from Heather Klemm on 36 points. 

NTPs: Zilzie Wines 4th – Chitra Rankin 400cm, 7th – Adel Dal Corobbo 920cm, 12th – Janette Mason 130cm and 18th – Chitra Rankin 388cm. 

Friday’s nine-hole medley Stableford was won by Peter Gourlay with 21 points. 

A countback was needed for runner-up with Ben Hunt coming out the better, leaving Aaron Cumming and Tenupale Opo just missing the cut, all on 20 points. 

Balls: 15 points on a countback. 

The men’s Monthly Medal was contested in three grades with all winners finishing in the 60s. 

Kendall Marchment won A Grade with an excellent (72/69), just one in front of runnerup Cooper Mitchell (76/70) who had to under go a countback with Damen Southgate (77/70). 

Ethan Gray (Merbein) took out the B Grade (84/69) over Keenan Wade (88/71). 

The scores of the day and of the week came from C Grade, with a countback required to separate the top two, who burnt their way around the course. 

Justin Ebbles (86/65) was rewarded with the win in front of Ryan McCaig (90/65). 

Balls: 74 net on a countback. 

NTPs: Zilzie Wines 4th – Grant Giddings 143cm, 7th – Will Anderson 740cm, Red Rooster 12th – Ian Dickason 297cm, Sunbeam Fruits 17th Kendall Marchment 100cm and Good Deal Tyres 18th – Ethan Gray 234cm. 

Sunday’s medley Stableford was won by Michael Pitto with 37 points from Joshua Furey who picked up second place after a countback against Jace Monaghan and Adam Keil, all on 36 points. 

Balls: 33 points. 

NTPs: Zilzie Wines 4th – Trevor Williams 420cm, 7th – Jack Cook 455cm, 12th – James Clay 295cm and 18th – Josh Fleming 239cm. 


WENTWORTH 

LAST Thursday’s Stableford was won by Howard Hankinson with 35 points followed by Glen Walker with 29 points, after scoring just 12 points on the front nine. 

Barry Quayle was the ball winner with 28 points and Bill Murray took home the Mr Risky pink ball with 25 points. 

Barry also won the NTP with 900cm on the 2nd hole. 

Sunday’s Stableford was well attended in very pleasant conditions after Saturday’s 41 degrees. 

Some good scores were carded with Paul Schmidt taking home the win with 38 points from runner-up on a countback Mick Cook and in third place and was Barry Quayle. 

NTP on the 2nd was Paul Schmidt with 90cm and Vicki Appleton is playing the pink ball next week after carding 21 points for Mrs Risky. 

Tee-off is at 8.30am on Tuesdays and Sundays until further notice (when the weather cools down a bit) and everybody is welcome to come and play. 

The Vendi cart is available for hire by simply scanning a QR code and following the instructions. 


RED CLIFFS 

LAST Wednesday’s medley Stableford had 53 golfers grace the course. 

In A Grade, Michael Hogan took the top spot on a countback with 39 points from Neil Wilkie. 

In B Grade, Kevin Leach claimed victory with a score of 34 points, while David Marwood finished runner-up with 33 points. 

Balls: (6) 38-34 points on a countback NTPs: 3rd – Lee Bottomley 201cm (ladies – Lindeman), 8th – Glen Riordan 184cm (men – Chemist), 12th – Matthew Bird 375cm (Lucky Dip), 15th – Neil Wilkie 179cm(J. 

Gooch ball), 15th – Margaret Maynard 170cm (Bread & Butter), 17th – Matthew Bird 260cm (Gio’s Coffee Voucher), 18th – Michael Morrall 479cm (Red Cliffs Club). 

The Saturday medley stroke event saw another good field of 53 players. 

Cooper Mitchell led the way in A Grade with net 72 on a countback from Ben Hogan. 

In B Grade Mathew Burns won with a net 72 with Glenys Murray on net 76 claiming the runner-up voucher. 

Balls: (7) 73-76 net on a countback.

The week wrapped up with the Sunday medley Stableford event featuring 24 participants. 

Zaviar Grennan topped the leaderboard with 37 points from Jeffrey Scott with 35 points. 

Balls: (4) 34-33 points on a countback. 


MERBEIN 

LAST Wednesday’s Stableford event was won by Greg Marshall with 33 points on a countback from runner-up Carlo Longeri. 

Ball: (1) 33 points on a countback. 

Friday’s nine-hole Stableford winner was Carolyn McKenzie with 22 points from runner-up Jenny Jess on 20 points Saturday was the Adrian Rudd par event which was won by Chase Faux +8 from runner-up Peter Hahn +5 Ball: (1) +3. 

NTPs: 3rd Australia Vintage – Dylan Burnett 325cm, 3rd Pigeon cash prize – Dylan Burnett 325cm, 8th Drummond Golf (weekly) – Michael Thompson 200cm, 12th G&T Kitchen (weekly) – Adrian Rudd 285cm, 16th Lions Club (weekly) – Mark Holding 230cm. 

Merbein hosted round 3 of junior pennant on Sunday, with the team of Sam Trinick, Lucy Batchelor, Chase Faux, Max Hollingworth and Kaiden Irons taking the win against Riverside Green, moving them to the top of the leaderboard. 

Coming events: This Wednesday is a Stableford. 

Friday is a nine-hole stableford (front nine), Saturday is stroke monthly medal. 


VETERANS 

THE first event for the Sunraysia & District Veteran golfers will be the 4BBB Forty Winks Stableford held at Mildura Golf Resort. 

Registration commences at 8.30am on the front verandah of the clubhouse. 

Wear your badge and check your Golf Australia handicap to ensure your handicap is correct. 

If you want to hire a cart contact the pro shop by phoning them beforehand to ensure there is one available for you and your partner. 

The captain’s welcome is at 9am for your starting tees for the 9.30am shotgun start.
