WENTWORTH

TEE-off is now at 08.30am, until further notice, due to the hotter weather. Also, when the forecast temperature on a comp day is Bloody Hot, then we will offer our members free use of our golf carts.

Hopefully we can take some heat stress away from our keen golfers … we will play whatever the forecast temperature is, just bring plenty of water and use our complementary sunscreen around the course.

Thursday we had a fairly good turn-up and the breeze was cold as we teed off, though the day warmed up to a comfortable temperature for January.

Glen Walker had a 6 over-par round of 30 Stableford points, unflattering, but enough to win. In second place was Paul Schmidt with 29, on a on countback from Barry Quayle also on 29. Barry also won the wine with a NTP of 600cm on the 8th. Mr Risky pink ball went to ‘Woody’ Woodruff with 22 points.

Sunday was a much hotter day so we only had seven hardy souls come out to play. Howard Hankinson certainly came out to play, scoring an even-par 36. Max Hodges, playing in the same group came second with 34 and Barry Quayle limped home third on 31 points.

Woody Woodruff again tailed up the rear for the pink ball and Glen Walker got the wine with a NTP of 18 metres on the 12th.

All players appreciated the airconditioned clubroom and frosty cold refreshments after the game.
