Riverside golf notes

WITH Christmas now behind us and presents handed out, it’s time to look forward to the coming of a new year.

Riverside’s committee wish all members and golf fanatics good health, happiness and safe travels for 2025.

It was stroke for the women nine holes on Tuesday, December 17 and Tracy Lee had a ripper day, winning on 36 nett and taking home the NTPs on the 12th and 18th.

Lauris Hicks came out the better in a count back for runner up, over Adel Dal Corobbo, both on 38 nett.

Wednesday was also stroke for the members and visitors, which was played in two grades.

The overall best score of the day, came from Damien Arney with and awesome (78/67) to leave with the monthly award.

David Lloyd was pleased with his win in A Grade, on an excellent (83/71), from runner up, Neil Bryant (88/72) who had to undergo a count back against Michael Wade and Isaiah Faulkhead.

Tom Colbert put together a terrific round to come out on top in B Grade, in front of eight players vying for second place.

Bluey Martin used all of his luck to snare runner up, over Brad Missen, Rob Arnold, Oliver Hobbs, George Riordan, Ian Walder, Greg Love and Ray Cottle. Balls went out to 74 net.

Alex Heuzenroeder played all three shots perfectly, to walk away with an eagle on the par 5, fifth hole.

NTPs were : Zilzie Wines 4th – Ian Walder 165cm, 7th – Claude Dawson 237cm, 12th – Brad Missen 610cm, Sunbeam Fruits 17th – Greg Barila 314cm and Good Deal Tyres 18th – Brenton Love 390cm.

Friday’s medley nine hole stableford was a beauty for Lynne Coates, coming in with 22pts, from Corey Iredale on 21pts.

The women played stableford on Saturday, with little Lucy Batchelor taking the win on 37pts.

NTPs were : 12th – Pat Riordan 180cm and 18th – Salli Fox 10cm.

The Men contested par on Saturday, with a mighty 102 in the field, which called for three grades.

Lachlan Faulkhead played a fantastic round to be rewarded with the win in A Grade, after his (+4), over Barry Pilgram on (+2).

A count back saw John Wass take out B Grade in front of Luke Bergens, who accepted second place, when both finished on a lovely (+3).

Gavin Jackson also put in an outstanding round of (+4) which gave him the C Grade win, over Thomas Halton, on (+2). Balls went out to (-1) on a count back.

The par five 11th hole rewarded Luke Perry with a memorable eagle.

NTPs were : Zilzie Wines 4th – Max Marks 150cm, Cookes Pools and Spa’s 7th – 250cm, 12th – Gavin Jackson 108cm, Sunbeam Fruits 17th – Max Marks 140cm and Good Deal Tyres 18th – Tony Coppola 340cm.

Another big field on Sunday in the medley stableford, also saw three grades, with a count back handing Josh Fleming the win in A Grade, from Reece Farr, both on a fine 39pts.

Gary Swallow collected the B Grade win, after his 38pts, with Ian Alexander picking up second place on 37pts.

It was C Grade that brought home the top scores, with Charlie Cook completing an outstanding round of 43pts to not just give him the win, but one of the best scores of the week.

Charlie was followed by runner up Cameron Woodward, on a super 40pts. Balls went out to 35pts on a count back.

NTPs were : Zilzie Wines 4th – Jace Monaghan 117cm, 7th – Hayden Cook 40cm, 12th – Gary Swallow 300cm and 18th – Ian Alexander 280cm.

Monday was the last competition day before Christmas and both grades made the most of their day.

James Clay produced a wonderful 40pts, to be A Grades winner, five shots in front of second placed Oliver Cooper, on 35pts.

A lovely 41pts came from Thomas Halton to top score in B Grade, seven points in front of his nearest rival, John Denman, on 34pts. Balls went out to 32pts on a count back.
