MILDURA

ON Tuesday, October 22, the ladies played Monthly Medal stroke and putting over nine and 18 holes. 

The nine-hole event was won by Rhonda Young with net 33 from runner-up Leanne O’Brien with net 34. 

Balls: (2) net 33 to net 34. 

Bev Matthews won the 18-hole event with net 68 from Carla Sherriff close behind on net 69. 

Balls: (5) net 68 to net 73. 

NTPs: 1st Pete’s Pure – Jan Mierswa 1050cm, 2nd Trentham Estate – Helen Treacy 52cm, 10th Trentham Estate – Jillian Campbell 120cm, 12th Zilzie Wines – Jillian Campbell 295cm. 

Putts: Ann Bowen 28. 

The men played stroke last Wednesday with Ryan Dowdy winning A Grade comfortably with net 66 from runner-up Rob Pallot with net 69 from third placed Chris Szigeti with net 70. 

B Grade was won by Paul McErvale with net 69 from runner-up John Mock on net 70 and Graham Robertson third with net 71. 

Balls: (21) net 66 to net 73. 

NTPs: 1st Pete’s Pure – Simon Kelly 320cm, 2nd Trentham Estate and Pig – Wayne Gill 530cm, 10th Trentham Estate – Rob Pallot 700cm, 12th Zilzie Wines – Paul Treacy 50cm. 

The women played an 18-hole Stableford on Friday, with Jillian Campbell taking the win with 33 points from Bev Matthews on 32 points. 

The Medallist of the Year stroke event was played on Saturday along with the Monthly Medal for October. 

Medallists of the Year are: A Grade: Rob Pallot net 71; B Grade: Craig Wright net 72; C Grade: Bruce Smythe net 70. 

A Grade was won by Josh Mcaskill with net 69 from runner-up Les Williams with net 70 from third placed Rob Pallot on net 71. 

Sam Cross took out B Grade with net 68 from runner-up Ken Stanbrook on a countback from Ernie Tyrrell, both on net 69. 

Ian “Duck” Nimon comfortably won C Grade with net 67 from runner-up Bruce Smyth on net 70 with Simon Middleton third on net 71. 

Balls: (29) net 67 to net 74. 

NTPs: 1st Pete’s Pure – Rob Pallet 183cm, 2nd Trentham Estate and Pig – Mark Woodhouse 166cm, 10th Trentham Estate – Andrew Keogh 131cm, 12th Zilzie Wines – Jake Cameron 265cm, The Ranfurly – Chris Bush 12 points. 

The Veterans and Friends Stableford on Monday was won by John Mock with 38 points on a countback from Milton Clarke with Peter Dooley third on a countback with Doug Gardiner, both on 37 points. 

Balls: (4) 35 points on a countback. 

NTPs: 2nd – Alan Steedman 980cm, 12th – Ian Nimon 275cm. 


RIVERSIDE 

KEITH Willis managed to hold off the opposition on Monday, October 21, to win the medley Stableford event with 37 points from Rob Arnold on 36 points. 

Balls: 34 points. 

It was a nine-hole Stableford event for the ladies on Tuesday, October 22, with Adel Dal Corobbo taking the win on 19 points and Verna Wakefield was runner-up after a countback with Caroline James, both with 18 points. 

NTP: 4th – Caroline James 745cm. 

Wednesday’s par event was played in two grades with Dale Meredith winning A Grade with +5 followed by runner-up Michael Holcroft on +3. 

Lukas Pedder smashed out a win in B Grade with a sensational +6 (also top score of the week) from runner-up Jordan Appleby with +5. 

Balls: Square on a countback. 

NTPs: Zilzie Wines 4th – Neil Bryant 84cm, 7th – Justin Ebbles 230cm, 12th – John Denman 310cm, Sunbeam Fruits 17th – Michael Holcroft 234cm, Good Deal Tyres 18th – Paul Wilkinson 115cm. 

The ladies par event on Thursday went to Janette Mason with an excellent winning score of +5 from runner-up Marie Hudak with +4. 

Balls: +2. 

NTPs: Zilzie Wines 4th – Janette Mason 167cm, 12th – Pat Riordan 101cm, 18th – Wendy Dawson 87cm. 

Friday’s nine-hole medley Stableford went down to a five-way countback on 19 points. 

The winner was Oliver Zambelli from Kane Heeps in second place, with George Moraitis, Brad Winslow and Mathew Bird missing out on the placings. 

It was stroke for the ladies on Saturday and Salli Fox put together a lovely round of 89/73 to collect the win over runner-up Tracey Bryan 97/75 after a countback with Heather Klemm 98/75. 

NTPs: Zilzie Wines 4th – Tracey Bryan 129cm, 7th – Sandy Briggs 640cm, 12th – Salli Fox 94cm, 18th – Heather Klemm 15cm. 

The men played for their Monthly Medal on Saturday in three grades. 

Cooper Mitchell was rewarded with the medal in A Grade after his great round of 82/69 from runner-up Roberto Fuoco 82/71. 

George Moraitis kept his good form going from Friday to pick up the medal in B Grade with 87/68 in front of Matthew Bird 83/69. 

The C Grade medal went to Todd George on 95/68 from runner-up Benjamin Ave on 96/72. 

David Williams had an eagle on the far four 9th hole. 

NTPs: Zilzie Wines 4th – Peter Pecci 69cm, 7th – Brendan Gove 55cm, Red Rooster 12th – Terry Simpson 502cm, Sunbeam Fruits 17th – Cooper Mitchell 460cm, Good Deal Tyres 18th – Larry Cavallaro 170cm . 

Sunday’s medley Stableford was contested in two grades, with Oliver Zambelli’s 41 points enough to win A Grade over Angelo Diamico’s on 38 points. 

Nicholas Letto put his name on the B Grade win with 37 points from Larry Simonetta on 35 points. 

Balls: 35 points.

COOMEALLA 

DUE to maintenance on the front nine, the back nine holes are played twice for all 18- hole events.

WENTWORTH 

ON Thursday, a stroke event was played and we welcomed some visitors from Darwin. 

Howard Hankinson had 91 off the stick for a net 69 to win the event from runner-up Matt Plewinski (Darwin) with 88 off a 17 handicap for 71 net. 

Third was visitor Lee McCleod. 

NTP: 2nd – Matt Plewinski. 

Wayne Astbury continues his consistent form to take out Mr Risky with a net 89 not out! Sunday’s Stableford was played in perfect weather conditions with Mick Cook taking the win with 37 points from runnerup Barry Quayle with 36 points. 

Third place went to Max Hodges with 33 points and Janine Chapman took home Mrs Risky with 14 points. 

NTP: 2nd – Mick Cook 325cm. 

The club championships will be played on November 3, 7, 10 and 14. 

You must play two rounds to qualify and you need to nominate your two rounds before November 3.

Pooncarie Golf Club are holding their ‘After-Flood Opening Day’ on Sunday. 

There may be a free bus travelling to Pooncarie if there are sufficient numbers.

RED CLIFFS 

THE men’s Stableford competition played lastWednesday was won by Simon Rogers with 43 points with Laurie Wood runner-up with 40 points. 

NTPs: 8th – Raymond Pan 559cm, 12th – Matthew Pascoe 361cm, 17th – Rodger Walder 361cm. 

The ladies played Triple Sixes with the team of Liz Leach, Kay Hart and Jill Gleeson winning on a countback against Deanne Davis, Julianne and Rose Barich. 

Saturday’s medley aggregate Stableford 4BBB team of Jarrad McGlashan and Mitchell Hopkinson took top honors with a combined 83 points from runners-up Josh Valentich and Mitchell Hopkinson with 79 points. 

NTPs: 3rd – Heather Shaw 61cm, 3rd – Alistair Rayner 565cm, 8th – Jason Plant 82cm and Jill Gleeson 215cm, 12th – Michael Hogan 262cm and Isobel Westhead 62cm, 15th– Jill Gleeson 243cm and Paul Dominelli 301cm, 17th – Cheryl Blagus 241cm and Paul Dominelli 301cm, 18th – Daryl Morgan 364cm. 


MERBEIN 

WEDNESDAY’S Stableford winner was Ryan Teasdale with 38 points from runner-up Graeme Kerr on 37 points. 

NTP: 3rd- Australian Vintage – Jim Piper 167cm. 

Friday night’s Stableford winner was LeeAnn Williams with 40 points. 

Peter Hahn had an impressive 42 points to win the Stableford competition on Saturday which included back-to backbirdies on the 4th (three for five) and 5th holes (three for four). 

Runner-up was Jack Hibberd with 38 points. 

Ball: Steve Farley 37 points. 

NTPs: 3rd Australian Vintage – Luke McLelland 283cm, 8th Drummond Golf – Tim Rix 490cm, 12th G&T Schnitzel – OscarMannix –159cm, 16th – Merbein Lions Club – Keryn Neindorf 155cm.
