MILDURA 

ON Tuesday, October 15, the ladies played Triple 6’s in 3’s over 18 holes with Glenda Hiskins, Helen Treacy and Ann Bowen taking the win with 81 points from runners-up Ruth Rodie, Sandra Hutchinson and Bev Matthews with 79 points. 

A nine-hole Triple 3’s in 3’s was also played with Kay Baker, Fran Thornton and Mavis Clinch winning with 37 points. 

NTPs: 1st – Shirley Lewis 630cm, 2nd – Tracy Katis 320cm, 10th – Lynda Saunders 7cm, 12th – Rhonda Young 190cm. 

Lynda Saunders had an eagle on the 4th. 

Last Wednesday was a single Stableford with Wayne Manley cleaning up in A Grade with 42 points from Neville Hodgetts on a countback with Ron Casey, both with 39 points. 

B Grade was won by Peter Palazzo (who has found some good form) on a three-way countback with Eric Bruton and Bruce Smythe, all on 40 points. 

Balls: (21) 42 to 46 points. 

NTPs: 1st Pete’s Pure – Simon Kelly 50cm, 2nd Pig – Rob Toms 202cm, 10th Trentham Estate – Simon Kelly 250cm, 12th Zilzie Wines – Wayne Gill 129cm. 

On Friday the ladies played an 18-hole Stableford event with Helen Treacy winning with 39 points, well clear of runner-up Ruth Rodi on 35 points. 

Balls: (2) 39 to 35 points. 

Saturday was the annual 4BBB Diehards par event played over 27 holes which was won by Graham Robertson and Robert Leng with +15 to easily account for runners-up Simon Kelly and Andrew Keogh on +11. 


RIVERSIDE 

A MEDLEY Stableford event was played on Monday, October 14, and Gavin Minter came home with 42 points to win from runner-up Roz Nash with 38 points. 

Balls: Went out to 35 points. 

NTP: 4th Zizlie Wines – David Gardiner. 

It was par on Tuesday, October 15, for the ladies nine-hole event with Carol Benning finishing on +3 to take the win in front of Pat Riordan on +2. 

NTPs: 4th – Maree Irvin 905cm, 7th – Adel Dal Corobbo 890cm. 

On Wednesday the members and visitors played stroke for the Monthly Award. 

The best score for the day came from Colin Johnston with an absolute blinder – 87/63. 

A countback was needed in A Grade to decide Claude Dawson as the winner in front of Andrew Forbes, both finishing on 85/71. 

There were some excellent scores in B Grade with Bradley Missen’s 93/67, just enough to win over runner-up Matt Highdale on 94/68. 

Balls: Went out to 74 net on a countback. 

NTPs: Zilzie Wines 4th – Andrew Forbes 265cm, 7th – Dom Vartuli 409cm, 12th – Seb Raiti 235cm, Sunbeam Fruits 17th – Colin Johnston 340cm, Good Deal Tyres 18th – Ash Robinson 360cm. 

Pat Riordan won Thursday’s Stableford with 38 points on a countback from Kathy Ridley. 

Riordan also had an eagle on the par four 15th. 

NTPs: Zilzie Wines 4th – Lyn Thompson 70cm, 12th – Lisa Garioch 230cm, 18th – Pat Riordan birdie. 

The nine-hole medley Stableford on Friday was won by Brett Harvey on 21 points from runner-up Jason Beard with 20 points. 

Adel Dal Corobbo won the ladies Stableford on Saturday with 39 points from Lisa Garioch on 37 points. 

NTPs: Zilzie Wines 4th – Heather Klemm 370cm, Zilzie Wines 7th – Janette Mason 430cm, 12th – Lisa Garioch 255cm, 18th – Heather Klemm 620cm. 

The men contested a par event on Saturday played in three grades. 

David Williams collected the win in A Grade with +1 from Michael Holcroft in second place after a three-way countback against Tim Peterson and Roland Tankard, all finishing square. 

Kevin Burke won B Grade on +4 with another threeway countback needed to decide runner-up. 

Neil Bryant snatched that honour from Toby Cardew and George Andriolas, all on +3. 

Duane Ebbles had +7 to clean up in C Grade beating runner-up Neville Cooke on a countback with Daniel Jones, both with +5 Balls: Went to -1 on a countback. 

NTPs: Zilzie Wines 4th – Tom Grigg 235cm, Cookes Pools and Spa’s 7th – Roland Tankard 83cm, 12th – Joe Lando 830cm, Sunbeam Fruits 17th – Grant Giddings 217cm, Deakin Estate Wines 18th – Barry Pilgram 302cm. 

Ian Fleming’s 42 points was just enough to win Sunday’s medley Stableford from runner-up Jack Cook on 41 points. 

Balls: Went out to 35 points on a countback. 

NTPs: Zilzie Wines 4th – Jack Cook 123cm, 7th – Jack Hibberd 202cm. 


COOMEALLA 

THIS Wednesday the men and women play a stroke event; Friday is the President’s Port 12-hole medley Stableford; Saturday is a Stableford competition; Sunday is an 18- hole medley Stableford. 

(Competition play is on the back nine twice – the front nine is closed due to fairway renovations.) Last Wednesday was a medley Ambrose in two’s: Justin McPhee and Rob Morgan 62 net, runners-up Brett Wills and Vince Dichiera 62.75 net, third Ilka Deli and Shane Trinick 65 net, fourth Mark McDonald and Stan Prymke 65 net. 

Balls: (25) 62 to 67.25 net. 

NTPs: 3rd Zilzie Wine –Tim Nunan 128cm, 19th McGuigan Wines – Rob Morgan 84cm, 11th Walkers IGA – Graham Burrows 299cm, 18th Trentham Estate – Gerard Chapman 71cm. 

WOMENS NTPs: 11th Buronga Bake – Jackie Horkings 633cm, 18th Trentham Estate – Susan Mills 199cm. 

Friday’s nine-hole Stableford: Doug Alvey 20 points, runner-up Gary Thomas 18 points Balls: (5) 16 to 18 points.

On Saturday the men and women played Stableford. 

A Grade: Matt Bottomley 36 points, runner-up Ashley Davis 36 points, third Keegan Blows 36 points. 

B Grade: John Gray 35 points, runner-up David Smith 35 points, third Ilker Deli 35 points. 

C Grade: Brock Webb 38 points, runner-up Ian Perks 35 points, third Rob Armstrong 34 points. 

Balls: (22) 32 to 38 points.

Women’s Stableford: Nycole Riordan 45 points, runner-up Janice Walker 43 points, third Sharon Morrell 39 points. 

Balls: (5) 38 to 45 points. 

NTPs: 3rd Zilzie Wine – Ninette Mammone 98cm, 19th – Lee Bottomley 92cm, 11th Buronga Bake – Maureen Bailey 220cm, 18th Trentham Estate – Nia Whittle 71cm. 

Sunday was a medley Stableford: Lucy Batchelor 37 points, runner-up Oliver Clay 37 points. 

Balls: (7) 34 to 37 points. 

NTPs: 19th – Steven Batchelor 270cm, 18th – Andrew Murdoch 435cm. 

 


WENTWORTH 

ON Sunday our Flood Recovery Ambrose competition was well attended by 108 golfers taking to the course. 

Thanks you all for turning up to play. 

There was a $10,000 prize up for grabs for a hole-inone on the 8th – sadly, no-one won the cash but thanks go out to Elders and Marty Deacon for sponsoring the prize. 

Thank you to all the volunteers and sponsors on the day (too many to mention), your efforts were much appreciated. 

A special thank you to Dennis McLaughlin, Wentworth Shire Council Flood Recovery Officer, for all your help and support to get this off the ground and for running the 8th fun hole, with music and your crazy antics. 

Results: 1st – “Direction” Steve Wilmont’s team; 2nd – “3 H’s & a C” Kathy Cameron’s team; 3rd – “Scullino 2” Frank Cavallo’s team. 

Winners of the Driving Range vouchers – “Noah” Noah Boldiston’s team. 

Prizes were also awarded for NTPs on the four par 3 holes, longest drive and a bottle of wine for each female player, and random awards of meal vouchers, Haymes Paint showbags and Golf NSW T-shirts. 

Last Thursday’s stroke event was won by Pete Trevathan with a net 69 from runner-up Bill Slee on net 71 with Howard Hankinson third on net 72. 

Janine Chapman won the Mrs Risky award but also won the NTP on the 2nd with 297cm. 


RED CLIFFS 

GRAHAM Baily claimed victory in the men’s Stableford competition last Wednesday with an impressive 40 points closely followed by runner-up Brad Morgan with 38 points. 

NTPs: 8th – Anthony Lee 405cm, 15th – Graham Baily 425cm, 17th – Andrew Wood 487cm, 18th – Peter Lynch 1023cm. 

In the ladies’ A Grade event on Wednesday, Deb Clark topped the leader board with 37 points from runner-up Susan Poole on a countback with 34 points. 

B Grade was a tight finish with Ruth Copper edging out Rita Chase in a countback, both scoring 35 points. 

NTPs: 3rd – Glenys Murray 141cm, 8th – Rita Chase 371cm, 12th – Caroline James 45cm. 

On Saturday the men and women played stroke for the Monthly Medal. 

Christopher Chase triumphed in A Grade with a superb score of 68 net earning him the Round of the Week, while Graham Lohmeyer was runner-up with 69 net. 

In B Grade, Malcom Goodieson took the win with a 70 net, with Ron Baird coming in second with 72 net. 

NTPs: 3rd – Daryl Morgan 332cm, 8th – Daryl Morgan 362cm, 15th – Daryl Morgan 440cm, 17th – Alister Rayner 610cm, 18th – Matthew Pascoe 172cm. 

Sally Jones clinched the ladies Monthly Medal after a countback with Susan Gathercole, both finishing with 73 net. 

NTPs: 3rd – Sally Jones 270cm, 8th – Christine Taylor 626cm, 12th – Jill Gleeson 8cm, 15th – Susan Poole 151cm, 17th – Jill Gleeson 395cm. 

Sunday’s medley Stableford was won by Laurie Wood with 38 points from runner-up Adrian Hensgen 35 points. 

NTP: 17th – Adrian Hensgen 900cm. 

 


MERBEIN 

LAST Wednesday’s Stableford competition was won by Frank Crouch with 36 points over runner-up Ken Matulick on 31 points. 

NTP: 3rd Australian Vintage – Ken Matulick 510cm. 

Terry Fitzpatrick won Saturday’s par event with +3 on a countback with runner-up Jack Wilson. 

Balls: (2) Keryn Neindorf +1, Shane Gerring square. 

NTPs: 3rd Australian Vintage – Luke McLelland 302cm, 12th G&T Schnitzels – Al Gourlay 280cm, 16th Merbein Lions Club – Shane Martin 515cm. 

Memberships are now due and can be paid at the golf club or on the website – $250 single membership, $300 family membership, $50 junior membership. 

This Wednesday is Stableford; Friday night is a nine-hole Stableford on the front nine; Saturday is Stableford. 

On Tuesday, November 5 (Melbourne Cup Day) an Ambrose in fours will be played with a 10am shotgun start – book on the website.
