ON Tuesday, September 17, the ladies played stroke for the Monthly Medal and putting. Gayle Ford had net 69 to win from runner-up Sandra Hutchinson on net 71. Putting was won by Gayle Ford with 31 putts.

Wednesday’s men’s Stableford event was played in two grades, with Neville Hodgetts taking out A Grade with 41 points on a countback from runner-up Keith Williams with Maurice Warn third with 40 points.

B Grade was won Rob Gooch with 41 points from runner-up Doug Matthews on 39 points with Stephen Reberger third with 38 points.

Balls: (21) 41-36 points on a countback.

RIVERSIDE

ON Monday, October 16, Roberto Fuoco sizzled his way around the course to come in with a winning score of 42 points followed by runner-up, Matt Anderson with 38 points.

It was and nine-hole stroke event for the ladies on Tuesday, October 17, and Tracy Lee nabbed another win on 34 net.

NTP: Zilzie Wine 4th – Bec Olsen 169cm.

The men’s and visitors stroke event Monthly Award on Wednesday was won by Matt Highdale 98/70 on a countback from runner-up Greg King 88/70 and third Michael Holcroft 76/70.

King and Holcroft didn’t miss out all together as King took out the A Grade win in front of Holcroft.

Kevin Eastwood put together a great round of 110/71 to pick up the B Grade win from Ray Cottle on 93/73.

Thursday was Stableford for the ladies, with Adel Dal Corobbo capturing the win on 39 points from runner-up Roylene Bailey on a countback with Wendy Dawson, both on 38 points.

The top end of Friday’s nine-hole medley Stableford was as close as you could get it – with seven players winding up on 19 points – to be out-done by five players finishing on 20 points.

Dale Meredith was the lucky one who snuck in to steal top spot with Jamie Donaldson runner-up and Brett Harvey, Claude Dawson and Jerry Stephens rueing what could have been.

The ladies played stroke on Saturday and Marg McIntyre came in with 100/69 to win the Tasco voucher over runner-up Gaye Briggs on 112/71 who clamed the Monthly Award.

It was par in two grades for the men on Saturday with the winner of A Grade, Joe Lando, edging out Brent Smith on a countback, both finishing on +5.

Rory Kelly took out B Grade with +5 from John Denman runner-up on a countback with Greg Barila and Brandon Mercieca, all on +3.

Steve Wilmann had an ealge on the par 5 fifth hole.

RED CLIFFS

WITH the course in such good condition, scores have been hot this past week.

Last Wednesday’s Stableford was won by Glenn Goodall with 39 points from runner-up Rodney Hand on 38 points.

Balls: 33 points.

The ladies played a 27-hole foursomes with the mother and daughter combination of Bobbie Ramsay and Sally Jones proving too strong for the rest of the field, winning both the scratch and handicap.

Jill Gleeson and Glenys Murray were the runners-up in scratch and another mother and daughter combination, Kelly Rowe and Marg Fumberger, came runner-up in the handicap. Thanks to Gallagher Insurance for sponsoring the day.

On Saturday James Goldsworthy Consultants sponsored both the men’s and ladies competition. The men played an aggregate Stableford which was won by Mal Blagus and Mark Collett with a score of 71 points from runners-up Michael Englefield and Robert Stewart with 69 points.

Balls: 66 points on a countback.

The ladies aggregate was won by sisters Joan Ryan and Marg Fumberger with 71 points from runners-up Chris Taylor and Helen Wood with 69 ponts.

Balls: 63 points.

Affie Ganz won the round of the week for his round of 40 points on Saturday.

Sunday’s Stableford event was won by one of the younger members, Zaviar Grennan, who revelled in the near perfect conditions scoring 41 points to win from runner-up Peta Roberts on 40 points.

Balls: 34 points.

Today the men play stroke while the ladies will play Stableford and Saturday is a medley Stableford.

VETERANS

THE Victorian Veterans Golf Association State Championships will be played at Cowra Golf Club on Monday, October 7 and Tuesday, October 8 and entries are still open. Details are available online at VVGA.org.au.

The next local event is the Vines Retirement Village single Stableford at Red Cliffs Golf Club on Monday, October 7. The course has undergone constant improvements and is in top class condition.

MERBEIN

THURSDAY’S stroke event was won by Glen Walker with 102 off the stick for net 74. Pete Trevathan was runner-up with 110 for net 77 and third was Howard Hankinson. Mr Risky and the pink ball went to Phil Whitton.

NTP: 2nd – Gary Bourke 350cm.

Sundays Stableford event was won Howard Hankinson who cleaned up with 38 points from captain Bill Slee on 33 points and Gary Bourke rounded out the podium on 32 points. Max Hodges won Mr Risky.

NTP: 12th – Gary Bourke 650cm.

The come and try day held on Monday by NSW golf professional Garry Begg was well attended by a good number of ladies during their lunch hour and a bus load of school children from Mildura.

Potential golfers attended free golf lessons in the evening finishing off with a sausage sizzle.

Don’t forget the Ambrose event on Sunday, October 20, with monetary a prize of $10,000 up for grabs for a hole-in-one on a nominated par three.

There will be plenty of prizes on the day with a barbecue lunch and refreshments will be available.

Tomorrow is a stroke event with a 9.30am registration for a 10am hit off- and Sunday is a Stableford event.

The chicken-run will resume on Tuesday, October 8.
