MILDURA 

ON Tuesday, August 27 the ladies nine-hole Stableford event was won by Janet Stanbrook on 15 points. 

The 18-hole Stableford was won by Tracy Katis 39 points from runner-up Shirley Lewis 38 points. 

Balls: (4) 39-35 points. 

NTPS: 10th Trentham Estate – Val Whitelaw 138cm, 12th Zilzie Wines – Val Whitelaw 420cm. 

Last Wednesday the men played par in two divisions. 

Noel Hedwards won A Grade with +2 from runner-up Peter Miatke +1 and third place went to Ross Williams square. 

Wayne Davis saluted in B Grade with +1 on a countback from James Pippin with Steve Peters third on square. 

Balls: (20) +2 to -3 on a countback. 

NTPs: 1st Pete’s Pure – Robert Freeman 161cm, 2nd Pig – Donald Wall 119cm, 10th Trentham Estate – Paul Treacy 495cm, 12th Zilzie Wines – Robert Latta 46. 

On Friday the ladies played Stableford, with the everconsistent Tracy Katis taking the win with 37 points from runner-up Gayle Ford on 34 points.

Saturday’s daily stroke event was played in three divisions, as well as being the second round of the club championships. 

A Grade: Nathan Lever 70 net, Cameron Smith 72 net, Rob Toms 72 net. 

B Grade: Noel Hedwards 68 net, Kym Mack 71 net, Frank Crouch 74 net. 

C Grade: Will Anders 65 net, Robert Latta 71 net, Donald Wall 74 net. 

Balls: (25) 65-76 net on a countback. 

NTPs: 1st Pete’s Pure – Neville Hodgetts 122cm, 2nd Pig – Paul Leonard 419cm.

C Grade: Will Anderson 95-91-186, Steven Phair 96- 99=195, Robert Latta 102-95=197, Gavin Harrington 98-99=197. 

The top four in each grade will now play matchplay in pairs (1 v 4 and 2 v 3) on Saturday , and then the two winners in each grade will play the following Saturday to decide the club champion in each division. 


RIVERSIDE 

ON Tuesday, August 27, the ladies played a nine-hole Stableford which saw Marie Hudak continue her good form winning on 18 points. 

The only NTP was won by Leonie Nott on the 4th hole with 1200cm. 

The members and visitors day last Wednesday was a par event played in two divisions. 

George Riordan took out A Grade with +3, well in front of the runner-up Claude Dawson on -1. 

Tom Till also had +3 to win B Grade win in front of George Mason one behind on +2. 

Balls: -1. 

NTPs: Zilzie Wines 4th – Claude Dawson 710cm, 7th – Chris O’Brien 830cm, 12th Chris O’Brien, Sunbeam Fruits 17th – Claude Dawson 152cm, Deakin Estate Wines 18th – George Riordan 20cm. 

Pat Riordan took out the ladies Stableford on Thursday with 38 points from runner-up Marie Hudak on 36 points. 

NTPs: Zilzie Wines 4th – Adel Dal Corobbo 1080cm, 12th – Lirlene Crozier 76cm, 18th – Pat Riordan 85cm. 

Hayden Cook battled out a four-way countback to claim Friday’s medley, nine-hole Stableford with 19 points from runner-up Dale Meredith in front of Davison Mbindi and Taj Dale. 

An Ambrose was playedon Saturday with the team of Adel Dal Corobbo, Lyn Thompson, Wnedy Dawson and Roz Nash collecting the ladies event with 61 net. 

Alexander Spooner, Jarrad Stokker, Millar Payne and Nathan Darby finished with 51.875 to win the men’s section from runners-up Jason and Beau Shields and Matthew and Reef Warburton after their 55.875 net. 

NTPs: 4th – Justin Ebbles 189cm, 7th – Wendy Dawson 1050cm and Justin Ebbles 224cm, 12th – Rory Kelly 560cm, 17th – Tony Johns 250cm, 18th – Clayton Downing 175cm. 

Sunday’s medley Stableford winner on a countback was Scott Webster from Josh Fleming, both on 39 points.

MERBEIN 

LAST Wednesday’s Stableford was won by Frank Crouch with 38 points from runner-up Ken Matulick on 36 points. 

Balls: Greg Marshall and Ryan Teasdale. 

Saturday was a stroke event for Medallist of the Year, with Steve Farley 79/73 winning on a countback from Adrian Rudd 103/73. 

The daily competition winner wa Tim Rix 73/69 from runner-up Terry Fitzpatrick 97/72. 

NTPs: 3rd Australian Vintage Wines and pigeon cash – Keryn Neindorf 389cm, 8th Drummond Golf Sunraysia Golf Range – Gavin Hocking from Wednesday 938cm, 12th club sponsored – Michael Thomson 404cm, 16th Merbein Lions – Robert Redman 820cm. 

There is no competition today due to green maintenance. 

Saturday is a Stableford competition with the annual general meeting to follow presentations. 


COOMEALLA 

COMING events: Today is mens Stableford Monthly Mug and women’s Stableford Monthly Medal; Friday is a nine-hole medley Stableford after 1.30pm, Saturday is men’s stroke Monthly Medal and the women play stroke for the Monthly Award, and Sunday is an 18- hole medley Stableford. 

Wednesday was a medley Stableford. 

A Grade: Mark McDonald 40 points, runner-up Michael Baynes 39 points, third David Hancock 38 points. 

B Grade: Brad Mottram 36 points, runner-up Alan Jenkinson 36 points, third Greg Lee 36 points.

VETERANS 

VERY blustery and cool conditions greeted the district veterans who travelled to Robinvale on Monday. 

Along with a good contingent of locals, a field of 50 contested the Euston Club single Stableford event. 

New member, Fred Garreffa, joined the association on the day. 

Despite the conditions, somegood scores were recorded. 

Ken Upton won A Grade with 35 points from runner-up Claude Dawson on 33 points on a countback from Waynes Innes. 

B Grade winner, with the highest score of the day, was Mick Nunns with 37 points. 

A countback was needed to separate Mary Corcoran and Leonie Cramp into second and third places with both finishing on 36 points. 

Balls: Cath Remer, Percy Burns, Alan Steedman, Fred Garreffa, Jenni Gowers, Keith Willis, Marie Hudak, Col Pulman, Barry Avery, Sue Goldsworthy, Brian Young and May Connelly. 

NTPs: 1st – Kevin Jones 4th – Wayne Innes, 7th – Ned Klemm, 11th – Wendy Dawson, 14th – Greg King. 

The badge winner was Tony Dal Corobbo. 

Thanks go out to the Robinvale Golf Club who helped with the catering, the bar staff and grounds persons for their valued support in hosting the day. 

The next event will be the Vines Retirement Village single Stableford event to be held on Monday, October 7. 


WENTWORTH 

WHAT a difference a week makes when you are a keen golfer! Last Thursday’s stroke competition saw a big turnaround from the week before for Wayne Astbury, coming from last the previous week to win this week with net 79. 

Glen Walker won the previous week and came last this week. 

Runner-up was “Paddleboat Pete” on a countback on 79 and third went to Bill Slee with 80. 

NTPs: Glen Walker 970cm and the pink ball to Glen Walker. 

Sunday’s Stableford was won by second time player Paul Schultz from runner-up Bill Slee. 

Annette Green came third, winning a ball and Vicki Appleton won the pink ball and the Mr Risky trophy. 

NTP was ‘Gummy’ with just over six metres. 

There is a bit happening at the club over the next six weeks. 

NSW golf professional Garry Begg is running another come and try day on Monday, September 23. 

Ladies from noon-1pm, juniors 3.30pm-4.30pm and men 5pm-6pm. 

There will be a sausage sizzle after each session and this is a totally free event. 

October 20 is our Flood Recovery Ambrose competition, open to visitors and members. 

There is a special prize of $10,000 for a hole-in-one on a nominated par three hole, along with winners, runners-up and other prizes with a barbecue to follow. 

Stableford is played on Sundays and stroke is played on Thursdays (visitors welcome). 

Registration is at 9.30am for a 10am start. 

The “chicken-run” will resume on Tuesday evenings once daylight savings begins.
