THE next Sunraysia veteran golfers event is a single medley Stableford at the Robinvale Golf Club on Monday, September 2, and new members are most welcome.
The course will be well presented and the club provides a great lunch.
If you prefer to hire a cart rather than take your own, then contact the clubhouse as soon as possible to make a booking.
Tee-off is a shotgun start at 9.30am.
Robinvale Golf Club is a strong supporter of the association, so It is important that members support this event as their members make the effort to participate and travel to our district events.

ON Tuesday, August 13, the second round of the women’s club championships was played and Ann Bowen is comfortably out in first place with 89-90-179 net from Mabel Crouch with 94-95-189 net.
In B Grade Lorrie Bishop is leading by one stroke on 104-113-217 net from Tracy Katis 109-109-218 net.
In the women’s nine-hole Stableford was won by Jenny McCoy with 17 points on a countback from Kathy Cameron and Janet Fumberger.

The daily handicap stroke round was won by Val Whitelaw with net 72 from runner-up Carla Sherriff with net 73.

On Friday the women played an 18-hole stroke event with Tracy Katis saluting the podium with net 75 from runner-up Dora Stewart with net 77 on a countback from Val Whitelaw and Anne Bowen.

On Saturday a medley Stableford was played with 93 players braving blustery weather conditions.
Gary Fumberger took out A Grade with 38 points from runner-up Peter Hartmann on 37 points with Cameron Smith third with 36 points.
B Grade winner was Phillip Nash, with the best score of the day, 41 points from runnerup Adam Bell on 39 points from third placed Frank Crouch with 36 points.
David Smith cleaned up in C Grade with 40 points from Rod Truman on 39 points with Will Anderson a distant third with 35 points.
Balls: (23) 41 to 33 points on a countback.

On Monday, Tony Dal Corobbo took out the veterans medley Stableford event with 38 points from runner-up Steven Scullino, one shot behind with 37 points, while Graham Robertson had to survive a four way countback on 35 points to slot into third position.

Yesterday, the third round of the women’s championships was played and Ann Bowen had 86 off the stick to cement her lead and take out the championship from runner-up Mabel Crouch (full details next week).
RIVERSIDE
MONDAY’S Veterans Stableford event held on August 12 was won by Lyn Thompson with 32 points from John Denman on 31 points.
On Tuesday, August 13, the ladies played a nine-hole par event and Lauris Hicks took out the event with a score of -2 from Margaret Hamence with -3 on a countback.
NTP: 18th – Adel Del Corobbo.
The Stableford event last Wednesday was played in two grades.
The A Grade winner was David Llyod on 38 points from Ned Klemm on 37 points.
In B Grade Marty Scott had an impressive 42 points to win from runner-up Peter Schroeder on 39 points.

The ladies played a stroke event on Thursday with Lyn Delmenico taking the win with net 73 on a countback from Gaylene Briggs and Stephanie Baker.

Friday’s medley Stableford winner was Luka Pedder on 21 points from runner-up John Marlais on 20 points.
The ladies continued their club championship on Saturday with Margie Lampard winning the daily event with a net 74 from Sandra Biggs net 79.

WENTWORTH
NOW that the weather is warming up we are starting to get a few more players coming out of hibernation and coming down to the Wentworth Golf Course to enjoy our facilities and hospitality.
With the warm comes new grass growth, which means more work for our volunteers who have worked tirelessly over the winter months to further the recovery of the course after the flood.
We have 18 grassed fairways and greens with two temporary greens.
On Sunday, August 11, a Stableford event was played and the winner on 38 points was Woody Woodruffe from runner-up Howard Hankinson on 33 points with Max Hodges coming in third and winning a ball with 32 points.
The NTP went to captain Bill Slee with a distance of 680cm and Vicki Appleton took out the Mr Risky award with 20 points.
Last Sunday was a very tight Stableford competition, albeit with some fairly low scores.
Pete Trevathan won with 30 points on a countback from Woody Woodruffe and Max Hodges.
Steve Plewinsky took out Mr Risky with 26 points and it was good to see you back out on the course.
Max Hodges took out the NTP on the 12th with 15 metres.
It will be a stroke event this Thursday and a Stableford competition will be played on Sunday with a 9.30am registration for a 10am tee-off.
