ON Saturday Steve Farley won his second Monthly Medal for the year with a creditable 74/69 from runner-up Nick Cavallo 91/72.

Balls: Graeme Kelly 100/73, John Bell 84/74 and Dylan Bur net 88/74.

Today is Stableford with tee off from 12.30 pm, Saturday is Stableford and Sunday is a casual nine with tee off from 9-10am.

The opening of the new clubhouse will be on Monday, June 10 and a four person Ambrose will be played on that day.

ON Saturday the Gregg Steel and Sons 4BBB Stableford was played. Dean Doolan and Jason Plant had 45 points to win from runners-up Ivan Ban and Adrian Hensgen on a countback with 44 points..

VETERANS

THE Victorian Veteran Golfers Association Championship event conducted on Monday and Tuesday was a huge success and results will be published next week.

The next district event is the Drummond Golf 4BBB Stableford to be held on Monday, May 13 at the Robinvale Golf Club.

Registration commences at 8.30am followed by the captains address and it will be a 9.30am shotgun start.

Contestants are advised that if they require hire a cart it’s best to pre-book by contacting the club. Please check your GA score and remember to wear your badge.

There will be a special meeting after the presentations as there is a motion from the executive proposing a change to our associations banking arrangements. Stay and have your say in this important matter.

George Mason has decided to resign as vice captain and nominations are invited to fill the vacancy, which will be on the agenda as part of the special meeting.

MILDURA

WINNER of the Veterans event held on Monday, May 29 was Chris Szigeti (20) with 36 points from runner-up Tony Dal Corobbo (26) on 33 points.

Balls: (4) 30 points on a countback.

On Tuesday, May 30 the ladies nine-hole winner of the single stableford event was Marilyn Warn (21) with 14 points.

The 18-hole event was The Vines Golden Putter aggregate Stableford open day with field of 40 players taking part. Winners were Jan Mierswa and Michelle Blair with 67 points closely followed by runners-up Janet Stanbrook and Nora Pikoh-Paech with 66 points. Third place went to Janet Luke and Roslyn Nash on 64 points.

Balls: (20) pairs on 57 points on a countback.

NTPs: 2nd Trentham Estate – Sheryleen McGlashan 133cm; 10th Trentham Estate – Nora Pikoh-Paech 33cm; 12th Zilzie Wines – Chitra Rankin 322cm.

Last Wednesday the men played the TWW Ransoms Monthly Mug with 81 players competing in two grades.

A Grade winner was Bruce Dickie (16) with 70 net on a three-way countback from runner-up Ron Casey (12) and third placed Peter Rhodes (12).

B Grade winner was Jon Villiva (25) with 68 net from runner-up Rod Truman (21) with 71 net. Third place went to Paul Treacy (18) on 72 net.

The ladies 18 hole Stableford played on Friday was won by Bev Stone (38) with 28 points.

On Saturday 94 players played a single Stableford event in three grades.

A Grade winner was Daniel Nagayo (9) with 41 points from runner-up Nathen Lever (8) on 37 points on a countback from third placed Robbie Morgan (7).

B Grade winner was Robert Briggs (17) with 39 points from runner-up Frank Crouch (17) on 38 points. Third place went to Ben Callaghan (16) on 35 points.

C Grade winner was Chris Szigeti (22) with 39 points from runner-up Paul Cocks (26) on 37 points. Third place went to Russell Reid (27) on 36 points.

Balls: (23) 33 points on a countback.

NTPs: 1st Pete’s Pure – Joe Rocca 205cm; 2nd Water Wizard – Steve Reberger 210cm; 2nd Pig – Dennis Williams 280cm; 10th Trentham Estate – Tony Beyen 190cm; 12th Zilzie Wines – Alan Lillia 80cm.

Saturday is the May Monthly Medal and on May 18 is the 4BBB qualifying round for the Forty Winks four-ball match play championship. The top eight pairs qualify for the knockout rounds.


RIVERSIDE

THE ladies enjoyed a two-person Ambrose on Tuesday, April 30, with Lisa Garioch and Kathy Ridley pulling together a 36 net to win from the runner-up pair of Roylene Bailey and Jan Hiscock on a countback with Gaye Briggs and Verna Wakefeild on 38.25 net.

The Stableford event on Wednesday was played in two grades with Seb Raiti on 39 points taking the A Grade win from Wayne Innes, just one behind on 38 points.

John Kennedy completed his round with 37 points, giving him a convincing win in B Grade from runner-up Noel Murray on 34 points.

Balls: 33 points.

NTPs: Zilzie Wines 4th – Garry Swallow 252cm; 7th – Jeff Riordan 270cm; Good Deal Tyres 18th – Dean Vance 195cm.

It was a small field for the ladies on Thursday and Suzy Conquest picked up the win after a countback with Jannette Mason both on 31 points.

NTPs: Zilzie Wines 4th – Adel Dal Corobbo 303cm; 12th – Suzy Conquest 111cm; 18th Suzy Conquest 600cm.

Friday’s nine-hole medley Stableford winner was Frank Tapperell with 21 points. John Kennedy snapped up second place after a four-way countback with Aaron Cumming, Jerry Stephens and Trevor Williams, all on 18 points.

It was Stableford for the ladies on Saturday and Margie Lampard had 36 points to win from runner-up Lucy Batchelor on 35 points.

Balls: 33 points on a countback.

NTPs: Zilzie Wines 4th – Roz Nash 690cm; 12th – Margie Lampard 97cm; 18th – Lisa Garioch 103cm.

The men contested a Stableford in three grades on Saturday with the winner of every grade on 39 points.

David Williams snared the A Grade win over Darren Gray on 38 points. Dallas Kalms took the win against Garry Swallow after a countback in B Grade, both on 39 points. Another countback was required in C Grade with Fletcher Ryan edging out Gary Van Steenis, both on 39 points.

Balls: 34 points on a countback.

NTPs: Zilzie Wines 4th – David Williams 193cm; 7th – Simon Dale 85cm; 12th – Alan McMaster 52cm; Good Deal Tyres 18th – Leigh Fuller 155cm.

Sunday’s medley Stableford drew a very good field and warranted two grades, with Jason Marks winning with 36 points in A Grade in front of Michael Holcroft on 34 points.

The round of the week came in B Grade, with Oliver Zambelli cranking out an outstanding 43 points from Max Marks hot on his heels with 42 points.

Balls: 32 points on a countback.

NTPs: Zilzie Wines 4th – Lisa Garioch 103cm; 7th – Michael Holcroft 305cm; 12th – Wayne Innes 150cm; 18th – Claude Dawson 230cm.
