VETERANS
ENTRIES close Wednesday April 24 for the Victorian Veteran Golfers Association Stableford Championships which will be held at the Riverside Golf Club on Monday, May 6 and Tuesday, May 7.
Visit the club website to enter. Registration is from 9.30am for an 11am shotgun start.
The event is in three grades with NTPs, and daily ball runs.
Lunch is provided on both days as well as breakfast on the Tuesday.
The last time this event was held in Sunraysia was over 10 years ago.
All district association members are eligible to play as it is a medley event.
Players are invited to play in the Sunday Stableford competition prior to the event but you need to book and pay the competition fee of $12.
A barbecue will be provided after play.
The next district event will be held at Robinvale on Monday, May 13.
MILDURA
THE veterans competition played on Monday, April 15 was won by Jeff Giddings (9) with 39 points from runner-up Steven Scullino (14) with 37 points. Third place went to John Mock on 36 points.
Balls: (5) 36 points on a countback. The women played a nine-hole threeperson Ambrose on Tuesday, April 16 with Janet Stanbrook, Elaine McMillian and Desley Munro taking the win with 34.5 net. The 18-hole three-person Ambrose was won by Carla Sherriff, Dora Stewart and Lynda Saunders with 66.33 net from runnerups Helen Treacy, Nora Pikoh-Paech and Ann Bowen on 68 net.
NTPs: 2nd Trentham Estate – Sandra Hutchinson 277cm; 12th Zilzie Wines – Helen Treacy 345cm. Last Wednesday the men played a single Stableford event in two grades.
A Grade winner was Ben Callaghan (15) with 40 points on a countback from runnerup Bruce Dickie (14). Third place went to Geoff Hazeldine (7) on 38 points.
B Grade winner was Peter Cottrell (17) with 40 points from runner-up Jon Villiva (26) with 39 points and third place went to Alan McAskill (21) on 37 points.

Winners were Grant Beggs and Lee Tucker with a combined score of 78 points from runner-ups Wayne Manley and David Murray on 75 points. Third place went to Trevor Spanos and Robert Young with 74 points.

RIVERSIDE
THURSDAY April 25 is a three-person Ambrose with a shotgun start at 1pm. Entry of $25 includes a sausage sizzle prior to hit off. Bookings can be made through OneGolf or phone the club on 5023 4255. Monday’s veteran and friends event played on April 15 was won by Dom Scullino with 32 points.

Andrew Forbes was the winner in A Grade (87/70) on a countback from runner-up Claude Dawson (84/70). Keenan Wade (92/71) won B Grade on countback from Jeff Riordan (91/71).
