Back in the swing at Wentworth

WENTWORTH Golf Club made its long-awaited return to competitive play on Thursday – a significant milestone after a long path back from being flooded in November 2022.

While there is still a long way to go, having people back out on the course was a happy sigh, according to club president Glen Walker, who was one of many enjoying a round of golf.

“After recovering from COVID lockdowns we were just getting back on our feet when we copped the 2022-23 flood which inundated the course for a number of months,” Walker said.

“You will always get a friendly welcome and a relaxed game and atmosphere at Wentworth, and the bar is always open on competition days.

“I know we can get the club back up to where we were before the flood.

“We just need ‘bums on seats’, so to speak.”

Walker said he welcomed anyone to go along to have a round of golf at the club.

The club plays stableford on Thursdays and stroke on Sundays, with hire carts and clubs available.

Each day registration is at 9.30am for a 1am tee-off.
