WEDNESDAY‘S Stableford winner was Michael Thomson on 36 points from runnerup Graeme Kelly with 33 points

NTP: 3rd Australian Vintage Merbein – Michael Thomson 518cm.

A Stableford event was played on Saturday and Shane Trinick’s 37 points was enough to take the win over runner-up Michael Thomson on 36 points.

Monday’s Ambrose in twos was won by Steve Farley and Kerryn Neindorf 59.75 from runners-up Aaron and Tom Pratt 64.00

VETERANS

MERBEIN Golf Club will host the Vines Retirement single Stableford monthly event on Monday for the District Veteran Golfers Association.

Registration is from 8.30am with a $20 entry fee. Please wear your badge and new members can collect theirs when signing in.

Golf carts are at a premium, so it is advised that players contact the club to book one. Check your current daily GA handicap on the Golf Australia website for the slope for Merbein. Play starts with a shotgun start at 9.30am.

Entries are open for the Victorian Veterans Golf Association event to be held at Riverside in May and already half the field has been filled, so get your entry form in via the Riverside Golf Club website or ring Brendan Bower at Riveside for any inquiries.


MILDURA

THE winner of the veterans competition held on Monday, March 25 was Dennis Grigg (20) with 41 points from runner-up John Remmers (19) with 39 points on a countback from third placed Doug Matthews (16).

Balls: (6) 33 points on a countback.

NTP: 2nd Trentham Estate – Mark Woodhouse 305cm; 12th Zilzie Wines – Alan Steedman 520cm.

Thirty-four women played Canadian Foursomes on Tuesday, March 26. The ninehole winners were Aileen Norton and Mavis Clinch with 46.62 net. The 18-hole winners were Ruth Rodi and Sandra Hutchinson with 80.75 net from runners-up Helen Treacy and Ann Bowen on 81.12 net.

Balls: (6) 82.37 net on a countback.

Last Wednesday the men played a single Stableford event and the A Grade winner was Ross Bowen (11) with 41 points from runnerup Trevor Spanos (8) with 36 points. Third place went to Greg Toma (6) with 34 points.

B Grade winner was Steven Scullino (14) with 38 points on a countback from Jeff Chalmers (14) while third place went to Keith Williams (14) on 35 points.

C Grade winner was Paul McErvale (20) with 35 points from runner-up Russell Reid (26) on 33 points on a countback from third placed Peter Dooley (23).

An 18-hole medley Stableford was played on Good Friday with Levi McClelland (21) on 41 points taking the win from runner-up Mark Woodhouse (1) with 37 points.

A large field of 115 players played in the medley Stableford event on Easter Saturday.

The A Grade winner was Nick Katis (11), with back-to-back Saturday wins, on 41 points from runner-up Luke Perry (6) with 40 points. Third place went to Joe Rocca (4) with 38 points.

B Grade winner was Luke Hubble (16) with 40 points from runner-up Josh Valentich (19) with 39 points. Third place went to Julian Maloney (17) with 38 points.

C Grade winner, and best score of the day, went to Joey Umback (31) with 42 points from runner-up Luke Copley (23) with 39 points on a countback from third placed Jason Coutsodimitropoulos (30).

Balls: (28) 36 points on a countback.

NTPs: 1st Pete’s Pure wine – John Hardie 44cm; 2nd Water Wizard/Pig – Keith Williams 108cm; 10th Trentham Estate – Andrew Perry 65cm; 12th Zilzie Wines – Tom Crouch 205cm.

Easter Monday’s medley Stableford winner was Andrew Fairlie (5) with 43 points from runner-up Robert Morgan (6) with 37 points.

This weekend is the Jayco Caravan Mildura Open tournament over three days. Friday is a single Stableford warm up event and Saturday and Sunday is the 36 hole championships for ladies, men and juniors.

RIVERSIDE

ON Tuesday, March 26 the women played was a nine-hole stroke event and Jan Lloyd won with 38 net followed by Adel Dal Corobbo on 39 net.

Balls: 40 net.

NTP: 7th – Adel Corobbo 336cm.

Wednesday was a par event played in two grades. Michael Holcroft had +2 to take out A Grade in front of Chris O’Brien on +1 on a countback against Peter Ellery. B Grade winner was Brian Young with +2 in front of John Kennedy with +1 on a countback from Ron Hall.

Balls: -1 on a countback.

NTPs: Zilzie Wines 4th – Chris O’Brien 137cm; 7th – John Denman 700cm; 12th – Lukas Pedder 630cm; Sunbeam Fruits 17th – Rory Nutter 600cm; Good Deal Tyres 18th – 540cm.

The women played Stableford on Thursday and Tracy Lee had 32 points to defeat runner-up Janet Luke on 31 points after a countback with Adel Dal Corobbo.

NTPs: Zilzie Wines 4th – Janet Luke 620cm; 12th – Tracy Lee 136cm; 18th – Chitra Rankin 202cm.

Friday’s nine-hole medley Stableford was won by Isaiah Faulkhead with 24 points in front of Garry Swallow on 22 points.

Balls: 13 points.

Saturday’s Stableford event was played in two grades and Larry Cavallaro shot 38 points to come out on top in A Grade. David Lloyd was runner-up after a five-way countback with Tony Coppola, Darren Gray, Shaun Dawson and Lisa Garioch, all with 37 points.

B Grade winner was Brodie Ryan, having the round of the day and week, with an outstanding 41 points. Keenan Wade was runner-up with 40 points on a countback with Wayne Sievewright.

Balls: 35 points.
