COMING events: Today the men and women play Stableford; Friday is the 12 hole President’s Port medley Stableford; Saturday the men and women play Stableford; Sunday is the Stableford shootout and at 10.30am is an 18 hole medley Stableford. 

Last Wednesday the men and women played an International Stableford.

A Grade: Mathew Tiley 6, runner-up Ray Lyons 5, third Ross Robertson 5.

B Grade: Peter Duscher 6, runner-up Gerard Chapman 3, third Roberto Fuoco 2.

C Grade: Luke Shelly 20, runner-up Garry Buckman 8, third Bob Fleiner 4.

Balls: (21) 2 to 20 points.

NTPs: 7th McGuigan Wines – Terry Duck 232cm; 11th Walkers IGA – Garry Buckman 250cm; 18th Trentham Estate – Geoff Tandy 137cm.

Women’s International Stableford: Sandy Waters 7, runner-up Suellen 6, third Ann Bowen 4.

Balls: (3) 4 to 7 points.

Friday’s nine hole Stableford: Alan Scorer 20 points, runner-up Larry Frasca 19 points.

Saturday’s men’s Stableford:

A Grade: Craig Gursansky 39 points, runner-up Mathew Tilet 39 points, third Ray Lyons 38 points

B Grade: Michael Baynes 40 points, runner-up Keegan Blows 38 points, third Andrew Murdoch 37 points.

C Grade: Paul Schmidt 36 points, runnerup Mac Warchow 36 points, third John Gray 36 points.

Sunday’s Stableford: Darren Bottomley 42 points, runner-up Matt Bottomley 40 points.

RED CLIFFS

LAST Wednesday a 4BBB medley Stableford was played. Paul Dominelli and Glen Riordan were the winners with 45 points from runners-up Al Rayner and Mick Morrall with 43 points.

Balls: R. Pain and B. Woosnam, L. Leach and R. Barich, S. Jones and H.Shaw, M. Hogan and P. Lynch, J. Scott and R. Walder, N. Wilkie and G. Duffy.

NTPs: 8th – M. Morrall, 17th – S. Marwood; 18th – P. Dominelli.

Tim Shurr had 22 points to win the chook in Friday’s nine hole Stableford.

A medley Stableford was played on Saturday and in A Grade Rob Stewart had 39 points to win on a countback from Nick Goodieson.

Shane Johns had 41 points to win B Grade from runner-up Andrew Bateman with 36 points, while in C Grade Christine Taylor won with 36 points from runner-up Paul Legg on 35 points.

Balls: (11) 34 points on a countback.

NTPs: 8th – Rita Chase and K. Russell; 12th – J. Gleeson and S. Johns; 15th – G. Bettess and S Blagus; 17th – B. Overton; 18th – M. Morrall.


MILDURA

THE Veterans 18 hole Stableford played on Monday, February 12 was won by Paul McEvale (20) with 35 points on a countback from runner-up George Poriazis (9).

Balls: (4) 31 points on a countback.

NTPs: 2nd Trentham Estate – Geroge Poriazis 290cm; 12th hole Zilzie Wines – Boof Ferguson 520cm.

The ladies nine hole Stableford played on February 13 was won by Glenda Hiskins (35) with 23 points.

The 18 hole Stableford was won by Carla Sherriff (26) with 37 points from runner-up Dora Stewart (22) with 35 points.

Balls: (3) 35 points on a countback. Last Wednesday, 62 players took to the course for a two team aggregate Stableford.

Winners were Joe Morello and Mark Cleary with 71 points from runners-up Perry Hill and Peter Palazzo on 68 points. Third place went to Nigel Ingram and Paul Treacy on 64 points.

Balls: (16) 63 points on a countback.

NTPs: 1st Pete’s Pure wine – Gary Fumberger 231cm; 2nd Trentham Estate/Pig – Peter Briggs 181cm; 10th Trentham Estate – Paul Treacy 995cm; 12th Zilzie Wines – Jamie Lanyon 420cm.

The ladies Friday 18 hole Stableford winner was Carla Sherriff (26) with 31 points.

A medley Stableford was held on Saturday with 102 players taking to the course in three grades.

A Grade winner was Michael Osborne (10) with 39 points from runner-up Nick Katis (12) with 38 points on a countback from Paul Leonard (11).

B Grade winner was Jamie Marciano (13) with 39 points from runner-up Keith Williams (15) on 37 points. Third place went to Ken Stanbrook (15) on 36 points.

C Grade winner was vice president Gavan Tellefson (20) with 40 points from runnerup Rod Trueman (21) with 35 points on a countback from Robin (Barney) Hubble (23).

Balls: (25) 33 points on a countback.

NTPs: 1st Pete’s Pure wine – Mark Woodhouse 197cm; 2nd Water Wizard/Pig – Kym Mack 97cm; 10th Trentham Estate – Ross Bowen 284cm; 12th Zilzie Wines – Doug Matthews 151cm.

The Ranfurly Iron Jack was won by Andy Stanbrook with eight points. Sunday’s medley Stableford competition was won by Mark Woodhouse (4) with 39 points.

This Saturday will be the opening day of the 2024 season with a single Stableford followed by a babecue and presentations outside on the lawn area.


RIVERSIDE

ANOTHER of Riverside’s long time members left us recently, but not before reaching the grand old age of 97 years. Joan Birch was a much loved member of the club and always brought a smile to those around her. Our sympathy goes out to her family.

On Monday, February 12, Ken Upton accumulated 33 points to win in front of Keith Willis on 29 points.

Keith also left with the NTP on the 18th with 910cm.

On Tuesday, February 13, the scores may have been low, but Roylene Bailey had 14 points to take the win on a countback from Jan Hiscock.

The only NTP went to Pat Riordan on the 4th with 875cm.

The members and visitors Stableford last Wednesday saw Michael Holcroft winning A Grade on a countback from Michael Golitschenko (Coomealla), both on 39 points. Peter Welling also finished with 39 points to come away with the B Grade win in front of France Wilmann on 37 points.

Balls: 33 points on a countback.

NTPs: 4th – Bodan Bishop 280cm; Cookes Pools and Spa’s 7th – Bodan Bishop 260cm; Deakin Estate Wines 18th – Ashley Robinson 115cm.

Heather Klemm was a clear winner in the ladies Stableford on Thursday with 38 points from runner-up Suzy Conquest on 32 points.

Balls: 31 points on a countback.

NTPs: Zilzie Wines 4th – Lirlene Crozier 410cm; Zilzie Wines 7th – Roz Nash 580cm; 12th – Suzy Conquest 10cm; 18th – Suzy Conquest 40cm.

Friday’s nine hole medley Stableford was won by Harvey Spratt with 21 points.

Runner-up was Ang DÁmico after a fourway countback with Isaiah Faulkhead, Paul Wilkinson and Matt Anderson all on 19 points.

Balls: 17 points on a countback.

A medley four person Stableford Waltz was played on Saturday, with some brilliant scores being produced in this fun event.

The team of Jason and Max Marks, Fletcher Ryan and Andrew Forbes had the top score of 89 points. Maurie Munro, Rocky Pipicella, Tony Coppola and Neil Lawlor were runners-up with 87 points.

Balls: 83 points.

NTPs: Zilzie Wines 4th – Keith Willis 260cm; 7th – Wayne Innes 315cm; 12th – Chris Curley 648cm; Sunbeam Fruits 17th – John Denman 835cm; Good Deal Tyres 18th – Peter Ellery 85cm.

Claude Dawson is enjoying his retirement and he won Sunday’s medley Stableford with a round of a 38 points from runner-up Ian Fleming with 36 points.

Balls: 33 points.

NTPs: Zilzie Wines 4th – Claude Dawson 194cm; 7th – Josh Fleming 310cm; 18th – Peter Ellery 194cm.

A reminder to Riverside’s lady members that the 2024 opening day will be held on Thursday, March 7.

MERBEIN

LAST Wednesday’s Stableford winner was Ryan Teasdale with 36 points from runner-up Graeme Kelly on 36 points.

NTPs: 3rd Australian Vintage Merbein – Jim Piper 850cm; 16th Merbein Lions Club Weekly – Jim Piper 450cm.

Saturday’s Stableford winner was Michael Thompson with 37 points from Darren Mannix on 36 points.

Balls: Graeme Kerr 36 points, Ryan Teasdale 34 points.

NTPs: 3rd Australian Vintage Merbein – Alex Mullins (visitor) 151cm; 3rd Pigeon Dollars – Alex Mullins; 16th Merbein Lions Club – weekly Darren Mannix 109cm.

Meat raffle randomiser – Oscar Mannix.

Today is Stableford with tee off from 12.30pm; Saturday is a Stableford multiplier (need a partner) with registration from noon and tee off at 12.30pm.


VETERANS

THE Sunraysia and District Veteran Golfers Association members travel to the Mildura Golf Resort to commence the 2024 season on Monday, March 4, for the annual Forty Winks 4BBB Stableford event.

The event will commence with registrations at 8.30am with a $20 entry fee which pays for your competition, green fees and lunch.

Players requiring a hire cart are advised to contact the Pro Shop prior to the day.

Wear your badges when registering.

New members, both men and women, who are 50 years and over are welcome to join, and a badge will be organised for when you next register.

If you don’t have a playing partner, captain Ned will organise one before the shotgun start at 9.30 am.

Prizes are awarded for the first three placings and NTPs on the par threes.
