VETERANS

THE veteran golfers association members will see a return to normality from this month on. We revert to the schedule as proposed last year before the floods affected district clubs. That means that our next event will be held at the Red Cliffs Golf Club on Monday, June 5 for a single Stableford competition. We have a new sponsor for that day and we welcome Best Price Golf as a valued partner.

June is also the month when we enjoy two events. On Monday, June 20 the Ouyen Golf Club are host dor their annual veterans day. It is a chance for district players to experience sand-scrapes and to learn the unique method of putting on sand. This is always a popular day so circle the date on your calendar. More details will be available in the coming weeks. Once again it’s a good idea to get your car-pools organised for the trip down the Calder soon.

Another matter of importance is that the next Victorian Veteran Golfers Association Council meeting will be held on May 24 at the Mt Derrimut Golf and Country Club. On the agenda is the consideration of our application to host a statewide event in 2024. If we are successful we will be able to begin the next stage of organisation for that day. The host club, Riverside, will re-open in that same week, so it’s hopefully we will hear good news for both district golfers and the RIverside Golf Club. Stay tuned for an update.
