MILDURA

ON Monday January 16, the Vets played a Stableford event and the winner was Neil Bryant (14) with 39 points from runner-up Mark Woodhouse (3) with 38 points and third place went to John Williams (13) with 37 points.

NTPs: 2nd – Greg King 450cm; 12th – Mark Woodhouse 410cm.

The ladies’ 18-hole competition held on Tuesday, January 17 was won by Carla Sherriff (23) with 35 points from runner-up Sandra Hutchinson (19) with 32 points.

NTPs: 2nd Trentham Estate – Mabel Crouch 310cm; 10th Trentham Estate – Ann Bowen 120cm; 12th Zilzie Wines – Rose Gilardi 805cm.

The men’s Stableford competition last Wednesday had 121 players play on a cool breezy day to give players a break from the hot weather in recent weeks.

A Grade winner was Mark Woodhouse (3) with a par round to score 39 points from runner-up Keith Williams (10) on a countback from Ken Byrne (11) both tied on 37 points.

B Grade winner was Michael Baynes (17) with 39 points from runner-up Daniel Torpey (15) on a countback from Boof Ferguson (15) both tied on 37 points.

C Grade winner was Aaron Robson (22) with 37 points from runner-up Greg Murphy (21) on 36 points and third place to John Harvey (21) on 35 points.

The ball comp had 30 balls and 33 points on a countback or better collected.

NTPs: 1st Pete’s Pure Wine – Gary Fumberger 110cm; 2nd Trentham Estate/PIG – Jon Torpey 278cm; 10th Trentham Estate – Greg Stewart 106cm; 12th Zilzie Wines – Ken Byrne 99cm. 

The ladies’ Friday 18-hole Stableford was won by Valerie Whitelaw (35) with 38 points from runner-up Kim Ingram (28) on 35 points.

Friday’s medley 9-hole Twilight Stableford competition winner was Adam Philp (7) with 21 points on a countback from runner-up Josh Fleming (8) also on 21 points. 

There were seven balls in the ball comp and 18 points on a countback or better collected.

The medley Saturday Stableford event had 192 players take to the course playing in four grades and good scores were the order of the day.

A Grade winner was Ricky Lowe (10) with 41 points from runner-up Robert Young (8) on a countback from Greg Toma (7) both tied on 37 points.

B Grade winner was Nic Rodi (12), with the best score of the day, shooting 45 points to win from runner-up David Williams (14) on 41 points and third place went to Josh Bailey (12) with 40 points.

C Grade winner was Lachlan Inglis (19) with 41 points from runner-up Greg Lee (20) on 39 points and third place was Col Pulham (19) on 38 points.

D Grade winner was Frank Morello (21) with 40 points from runner-up Jake Debrincat (29) on 38 points and third place went to Peter Morrish (24) on 37 points.

There were 47 balls in the ball comp and 34 points on a countback or better collected.

Congratulations to Maurice Warn who recorded a hole-in-one on the 12th hole to claim the TWW eagle’s nest and also the Mildura Cruises prize of a boat cruise for his feat.

Sunday’s medley Drummond Golf competition winner was Daniel Torpey (14) with 38 points on a countback from Damen Southgate (6) also on 38 points with third place going to Brett Anderson (33) with 37 points.

There were seven balls in the ball comp and 35 points or better collected.

Tomorrow the first major event for 2023 will be held with the Klemm’s Australia Day Ambrose event. There is a morning shotgun start at 8am which is full already; however, the afternoon shotgun start at 1pm still has a few vacancies for those wanting to play. RED CLIFFS

LAST Wednesday both men and ladies played a Stableford event.

In A Grade Dean Vance had 39 points to win from Brendan Bower on 36 points. Mick Morrall had 39 points to win B Grade and Glen Martin was runner-up with 36 points. 

For the ladies, Jill Gleeson had 35 points to win from Catherine Lanigan on 32 points.

NTPs: 8th – G. Smith and Rita Chase; 12th – J. Marks; 15th – S. Jones; 18th – A. Robinson.

Friday’s nine-hole comp was played on the back nine and Brad Surgey had 22 points to win from Gary Swallow on 20 points.

A medley Stableford was played on Saturday and Chris O’Brien had 42 points to win A Grade from Peter Wright with 39 points.

In B Grade Brayden Collicoat won on a countback from Dean Doolan with both having 38 points and Sue Gathercole won C Grade with 43 points from Liz Leach on 40 points.

NTPs: 8th – J. Gleeson and M. Pascoe; 9th – B. Steer; 12th – M. Irvin; 15th – S. Jones; 17th – C. Lanigan; 18th – N. Klemm. 

In Sunday’s medley Stableford, Aaron Finch had 43 points to win from Matt Harris on 42 points.

MERBEIN

LAST Wednesday was a Stableford competition with Jim Piper on 36 points coming away with the win from runner-up Graeme Kerr 35 points.

NTPs: 3rd Australian Vintage Merbein – Graeme Kelly 645cm; 12th club voucher – Graeme Kerr 540cm; 16th Merbein Lions Club – Wayne Innes 435cm.

Friday’s Cashed-up Stableford competition was won by Frank Crouch with 18 points from runner-up Max Turvey with 16 points. You must play at least two Friday twilight games to qualify for the jackpot on the last Friday of the month.

The Drummond Golf Mildura Sunraysia Golf Driving Range Stableford event was held last Saturday with Oscar Mannix on 38 points winning the $50 voucher from runner-up Allan Gourlay with 37 points taking home the $30 voucher and the $20 voucher for third went to Graeme Kerr wit 36 points.

Balls: Matt Vining 34 points and Graeme Kelly 34 points on a countback.
