PENNANT

THE finals of the 2022 Pennant competition were played at Mildura Golf Resort on Sunday.

The closeness of the matches played was reflective of how close the Pennant competition was this year.

The ladies’ final between Red Cliffs and Coomealla resulted in a win to Coomealla four games to one. However, two of those matches were finalised on the 18th green.

The Division 1 men’s competition was played between Coomealla and Riverside 2, with Commealla winning three matches to two.

These two teams were the best-performing and the result showed once again how close these two teams were. The Division 2 men’s competition was played between Mildura 1 and Red Cliffs, with Mildura 1 winning three matches to two.

The closeness of this competition was demonstrated in match two where the outcome of the match was not decided until the 19th hole.

The Division 3 men’s competition was also played between Mildura and Red Cliffs, with Red Cliffs winning three matches to two. This was by far the closest of all the matches played on the day, with one match going to the 19th hole and another match going to the 21st hole before a final outcome was achieved.

VETERANS

THE last district event to be held at the Mildura Golf Club is unlikely to be affected by flooding.

Scheduled for Monday, December 5, the single Stableford competition will be our Christmas event.

The association normally takes a three-month break to avoid the hot summer weather so this is the final round and we will not recommence until March next year. Apart from the bleak flooding possibilities around the district, there are lots of compelling reasons to make it to this event.

We have a special festive lunch and a Christmas raffle with plenty of prizes, our schedule for next year will be distributed and the winners of the incentive program will be presented with their prizes.

As well, our new captain is taking the reins.

Our normal processes will be in place including registration starting from 8.30am followed by the 9am captain’s address before dispersing to our starting tees for the 9.30am shotgun start. The cost remains just $20. Carts are available for hire from the club by contacting the pro shop. Check your GA scores online to ensure you play with the correct handicap and please remember to wear your badge.
