IN the Veterans’ Monday stableford competition on October 24, the winner was Boof Ferguson (15) with 39 points from runner-up George Poriazis (9) on 36 points.
Ladies’ competition:
Tuesday nine holes – no play due to wet weather.
Tuesday 18 holes – no play due to wet weather.
Friday 18-hole Stableford:
The winner was Carla Sherriff (24) with 34 points from runner-up Ruth Rodi (24) on 32 points.
Men’s competition Wednesday, October 26:
A single stableford was played with 70 players heading out on the course.
The A Grade winner was Geoff Hazeldine (9) with 40 points from runner-up Greg Toma (7) with 38 points and a third-place mention to Rod Truman (17) with 37 points.
The B Grade winner was Terry Buckingham (18) with 34 points on a countback from runner-up Steve Peters (28) also on 34 points, with a third-place mention to Ferdi Bergamin (22) with 32 points.
There were 17 balls in the ball comp and 32 points or better collected.

In the Friday twilight medley Stableford on October 28, the winner was Carla Sherriff (24) with 18 points. The ball comp had four balls, and 15 points on a countback or better collected.
Medley competition Saturday October 29:
Eighty-six players played a single stableford on Saturday.
The A Grade winner was Nick Katis (13) with an excellent 40 points to win comfortably over runner-up John Hardie (14) with 37 points on a countback from Trevor Spanos (11), also on 37 points.
The B Grade winner was Paul “Boof” Treacy (17) with a wonderful 40 points to win from runner-up Jason O’Brien (19) on 38 points on a countback from Ernie Tyrrell (17), also on 38 points.
The C Grade winner was Lee “Lethal” Sutherland (21) with a cracking 40 points to win from runner-up Fred Goldsworthy (21) on 38 points and a third-place mention to Brad May (26) with 36 points.
There were 22 balls in the ball comp and 34 points on a countback or better collected.

Sunday, October 23:
The Michael Hogarth Charity Golf Day was held with 130 players supporting the day.
A four-person Ambrose was played and the winners were Kane Cameron, Josh McCaskill, Ash Spencer and Jake Cameron with 54¼ nett. The runners-up were Chris, Oliver, Cooper and Mathew
Sharman with 54¾ nett and third place went to Sean Bromley, Larry and Regan Cavallaro and Denny Fox with 56¼ nett.
NTP for the day and jackpot on the 10th hole was Paul McErvale (451cm).
MGR has its AGM scheduled for November 24 at 7.30pm in the balcony room.
RED CLIFFS
On Wednesday, October 26 the ladies played a 4BBB Aggregate. Debbie Hassell and Sheryl Blagus were the winners with 68 points and runners-up with 60 points were Jill Gleeson and Lea Walmsley. Balls went to Ruth Cupper and Sally Jones and Deb Dark and Penny Marks.
NTP: 3rd – Glenys Murray (415cm), 8th – Fay Ross (1380cm), 12th – Julieanne Wood (162cm), 15th – Jill Gleeson( 15cm), 17th – Bobbie Ramsay (550cm).
The men played a Stableford and Jason Plant won with 37 points from Neville Birch on 36 points.
Ball winners were Ian Slaughter, Neville Walker, Al Raynor and Michael Hogan.
NTP: 8th – Neville Walker (70cm), 12th – Phil Shaw (240cm), 18th – Michael Hogan (354cm).
On Saturday a Medley Stableford was played.
In A grade John Gooch was the winner with 40 points on a countback from Jason Plant.
The winner of B grade was Barry Martin with 40 points and Ian Slaughter was the runner up with 38 points.
Seventeen balls were awarded from 35 to 39 points.

RIVERSIDE
Monday, October 24 was the Veteran and Friends comp, which needed a countback to determine Mark Woodhouse as the winner over Jerry Stephens when both wound up on 37 points.
NTP: 7th – Mark Woodhouse (410cm), 18th – Greg King (440cm).
There was no ladies’ Tuesday comp due the weather conditions.
On Wednesday the men played Stableford in two grades.
Damien Arney put in a sensational round to win A Grade with 44 points in front of Jason Marks, who took second place from Ash Whitehouse, both on a pretty impressive 40 points.
Brian Young has been smashing out quite a few wins over the past weeks and he has added another to his list in B Grade this week after another great round (41 points), from Peter Welling on 39 points.
Balls (14) 36 points on a countback.
There are only a small number of golfers who are able to play holes to perfection to the point of leaving with an eagle, but when you finish with two eagles in the same round, that’s a fantastic achievement. Tim Peterson did just that on the par-five 11th and the par-four 13th.
NTP: 7th – Kevin Eastwood (480cm), 12th – Ash Whitehouse (296cm), Sunbeam Fruits 17th – Ken Upton (680cm).
The ladies enjoyed a 3 Ball Better Ball on Thursday before their AGM and end-of-year presentation of trophies.
A much-appreciated thank you to the outgoing Ladies Committee of Carol Benning (president), Lyn Saunders (captain), Caroline James (vice-captain), June Hensgen, Dot Knight and Sally Watson (match committee), Leonie Nott, Selma Mayne, Di Benham and Meg Hamence (social committee). A great job was done by all.
There were some excellent scores produced on the day and the two top teams had to be split by a countback. The trio of Jan Lloyd, Selma Mayne and Verna Wakefield came out the better in front of
Liz Wallace, Jan Hiscock and Shirley Lewis, with both teams on 50 points.

Friday’s Medley nine-hole Stableford was won by Aaron Wilkie on a fine 21 points over Matt Anderson, 20 points.

It was Stroke for the ladies on Saturday and Wendy Dawson had an exceptional round of 67 nett for a lovely win from Lyn Delmenico, just one behind on another pleasing score of 68 nett. Balls (3) 71 nett.
Wendy would have been super-excited with her eagle on the day as well.

It was three grades for the men on Saturday in their Stroke event.
In A Grade Andrew Diwell battled a countback before grabbing the win from Ben Bamborough, both on 70 nett.
Jeff Riordan also had a 70 nett, which gave him the B Grade win over David Lloyd (71 nett).
There were three vying for the placings in C Grade, with Don Male collecting first place, Michael Salter finishing in second and Tony McDonald just missing the cut.
Balls (24) 73 nett on a countback.

Josh Fleming won A Grade after a countback against Dallas Kalms, both on 39 points.
B Grade went the way of Ryan Hawke over Garry Swallow, with Tenupale Opo just missing the placings, all on 39 points.
Balls (8) 36 points on a countback.
Nicholas George played the par-five 11th very well, being rewarded with an eagle.
