VETERANS

IT is a little under two weeks until the district veteran golfers meet for their next event. It is a single Stableford game to be held at the picturesque Riverside Golf Club on Monday, October 3. Once again it’s worth reminding players to book a cart early to avoid missing out. This can be done by contacting the clubhouse during business hours. That said the club does have a good number available and at the special veteran’s price of $20, walkers are welcome as well.

As already mentioned, the club has four temporary greens in use. It’s sort term pain for long term gain for the members and the veterans will enjoy the benefits when we next visit.

Players are familiar with the game day process but with a pleasing number of new members it’s worth reviewing. Registration begins at 8.30am and at 9am we will be addressed by Greenie with a run down of current local rules before distributing the scorecards. We will then head out to our first tee in readiness for a shotgun start.

New members will be able to collect their badges and all players are reminded that you are expected to wear it for registration and presentations. Steve Clarke was last month’s recipient of a golf ball when we drew the lucky badge raffle so make sure you are included in this month’s draw.

This is a popular event and a good number of veterans are expected to participate. See you there.
