RIVERSIDE

Monday’s competition is now open to men and women and on Monday, August 8, it was a good round of 38 points from Ken Wakefield which gave him the top score and win over Lisa Garioch on a nice 37 points.

Balls: (6) 35 points.

NTPs: 7th – Ken Upton (410cm) and 18th – David Lloyd (350cm).

Kaye Ballantyne came away with the win in the ladies 9 hole Stableford on Tuesday, August 9 after a fine 19 points.

Balls: (2) 16 points.

The 18 hole competition saw Marie Hudak win, with 36 points on a countback from Rose Gilardi.

NTPs: 4th and 7th – Jan Lloyd (450cm and 98cm); Sunbeam 18th – Marie Hudak (275cm).

On Wednesday, August 10 the men were playing for their Monthly Medal and the overall best score of the day came from Tom Vadlja with an impressive (74/69).

Bodan Bishop put together a great round to capture the A Grade win on (83/71) over Dale Meredith (87/72).

Les Ball made B Grade his with a winning (106/72), from Ron Hall (105/75) in second place after a countback against Jerry Stephens.

Balls: (11) 75 nett on a countback.

Tom Vadlja played three amazing shots on the par five 14th for an eagle.

The ladies contested their Mildura Pots and More, 27 Hole Open Tournament on Thursday,August 11 in two Grades. The 27 hole Scratch A Grade winner was our ladies club champion Lisa Garioch (85/47=132); runner-up: Lee Bottomley (85/51=136).

B Grade: Winner: Tracy Lee (102/52=154); runner-up: Janette Mason (106/51=157).

Handicap 27 hole A Grade: Winner: Mabel Crouch (Mildura) (78/35=113); runner-up: Suzy Conquest (72/43=115).

B Grade: Winner: Kaye Ballantyne (75/38=113) on a countback from Shirley Lewis (68/48=113).

An optional 18 hole competition was also played and the A Grade Scratch winner was Lee Bottomley (85) on a countback from Lisa Garioch (85).

B Grade: Winner: Shirley Lewis (100); runner-up: Tracy Lee (102).

A Grade handicap: Winner: Suzy Conquest (72); runner-up: Chitra Rankin (74).

B Grade: Winner: Shirley Lewis (68): runner-up: Tracy Lee (71).

Friday’s nine hole medley Stableford saw Lachlan Faulkhead sizzle his way to a clear win with an excellent 25 points from Frank Taperell on 21 points.

The first round of the ladies Silver Tray was played on Saturday with the Scratch leader Lisa Garioch (89) leading from Chitra Rankin (96).

The daily competition required a countback to determine the winner with Lyn Thompson just pipping Chitra Rankin with both finishing on 76 nett.

NTPs: Zilzie Wines 4th – Chitra Rankin (222cm); 12th – Lisa Garioch (125cm).

Saturday’s Monthly Medal for the men was played in three grades with some outstanding scores.

Ian Riley (77/68) collected the A Grade Medal over Mark Woodhouse (74/71).

Jamie Donaldson (82/70) grabbed the B Grade win after a four way countback and second place went to Andrew Graham (81/70) with Paul Wilkinson and Dom Glenister just missing out.

The C Grade was taken out by the best score of the day from Dallas Kalms (86/67) in front of Ray Cottle (90/70).

Balls: (26) 74 nett on a countback.

There were three eagles for the day, two on the par five 2nd from Ash Whitehouse and Jarrad Stokker. Steve Wilmann sunk his second shot on the par four 17th.

NTPs: Zilzie Wines 4th – Tom Vadlja (295cm); Red Rooster 12th – Ian Davis (355cm); Sunbeam Fruits 17th – Graham Southwell (680cm); Good Deal Tyres 18th – Kendall Marchment (81cm).

With the option to play either Wednesday or Saturday in the 2022 men’s championships, the first round has been determined.

Kendall Marchment had a terrific round in Sunday’s medley Stableford finishing with 41 points in A Grade over Noel Thomas, who snuck into second place after a countback against Andrew Diwell, both on 38 points.

The B Grade scores weren’t so high, but 34 points is all it took for Brodie Peters to win from Matt Anderson after a countback.

Balls: (11) 33 points on a countback.

Men’s Veterans, Monday, August 8:

The winner was Jeff Giddings (10) with 34 points on a countback from Alan Steedman (19) also on 34 points.

Ladies Monthly Medal Stableford, Tuesday, August 9:

Nine holes: Winner was Dee Simpson (31) with 15 points from runner-up Elaine McMillan (38) with 14 points.

18 holes: Winner was Glenda Hiskins (36) with 35 points on a countback from runner-up Valerie Whitelaw (37) also on 35 points.

NTPs: 2nd Trentham Estate – Janet Stanbrook 398cm; 10th Trentham Estate – Eily Raeck 130cm; 12th Zilzie Wines – Sheryleen McGlashan 850cm.

Friday, August 12 was a Stableford event:

The winner was Beverly Matthews (26) on 35 points from runner-up Margaret McGlashan (19) on 34 points.

The en played a single Stableford on Wednesday, August 10 and 76 players ventured out onto the course.

A Grade winner was Peter Rhodes (10) who survived a three-way countback on 35 points to win from runner-up George Poriazis (9) and Jeff Giddings (10) also on 35 points.

B Grade winner was James Pippin (21), with the best score of the day, with 38 points from runner-up Paul Wilton (24) on 37 points and third place went to Geoff Crozier (22) on 36 points.

Balls: (19) and 33 points or better.

NTPs: 1st Pete’s Pure Wine – James Pippin 205cm; 2nd Trentham Estate/PIG – Paul McErvale 281cm; 2th Zilzie Wines – Terry O’Brien 204cm.

TWW Eagles Nest went off with Larry Finis shooting an eagle 2 on the 4th hole for 12 balls.

Medley competition on Saturday, August 13 was a medley Stableford.

Saturday was interrupted with some fickle weather that saw conditions very trying at times and the field reduced to 75 players but this didn’t deter some good scores posted.

A Grade winner and the best score of the day was Rob Toms (7) with 42 points from runner-up Joe Rocca (6) with 40 points and third place mention to Greg Toma (9) on 36 points.

B Grade winner was Paul Wilton (26) surviving a three-way countback on 36 points from runner-up Stephen Reberger (21) and Chippa Kolpin both on 36 points.

Balls: (18) needing 33 points or better.

NTPs: 1st Pete’s Pure Wine – Joe Rocca 8cm; 2nd Trentham Estate – Peter Dooley 376cm; 2nd PIG – Peter Hartmann 790cm; 10th Trentham Estate Tom Crouch 225cm; 12th Zilzie Wines – Rob Toms 73cm.

The Ranfurly Iron Jack jack-potted with a tie on 9 points.

Coming events:

Ladies 54-hole club championships has begun with the second round on Friday and final round next Tuesday.

Men’s 72-hole club championship begin this weekend and conclude next weekend. Get your entries in and enjoy the course. A set entry fee of $50 for four rounds to be paid at the golf shop on registering for the first round.

RED CLIFFS

Wednesday, August 10, saw the final round of the ladies club championships played and our champions for 2022 are:

A Grade: Jill Gleeson 270 from Sue Johns 281; B Grade: Dee Hopkins 298 from Bobbie Ramsay 304; C Grade: Marion Pengelly 324 from Helen Wood 325.

In the handicap section A Grade winner was Sue Johns 224 from Sheryl Blagus 227; B Grade winner was Dee Hopkins 214 from Bobbie Ramsay 226; C Grade winner was Marion Pengelly 222 from Helen Wood 229. 

Winner of the daily competition was Bobbie Ramsay on 72 nett from Jill Gleeson on 78 nett on a countback.

NTPs: 3rd – Sue Poole; 8th – Bobbie Ramsay; 12th – Jan Boyce; 15th – Sue Poole; 17th Dee Hopkins.

In the men’s competition Neville Birch was the winner on 40 points from Gary Nunn on 37 points.

NTPs: 8th – Gary Nunn; 17th – Tim pain; 18th – John Filippi.

Saturdays event was an Open Medley Lone Ranger with the winning team of Paul Legg, Rohan Hillier and Robert Stewart on 82 points from Paul Dominelli, Ian Doering and John Prictor on 81 points.

 NTPs: 3rd – Shayne Dempsey; 8th – Robert Stewart and Sheryl Blagus; 9th – John Prictor; 12th – Affie Ganz and Julianne Wood; 15th – Ron Baird and Sue Johns; 17th – Glen Goodall and Joan Ryan; 18th – Tim Pain. 

Today the ladies will play Stroke Monthly Medal and fourth th round of the Silver Spoon, while the men will play par.
