WEDNESDAY, July 6:
In the ladies’ competition the A Grade winner was Catherine Lanigan on 39 points on a countback from Lee Bottomley. In B Grade Sandra Marwood won on 36 points from Susan Gathercole on 35 points.
NTPs: 3rd – Margaret Stanbrook; 8th – Fran MacKay; 12th and 15th – Catherine Lanigan; 17th – Sue Johns.
In the men’s competition Nathan Riordan helped by a three for five-pointer on the 16th won the men’s competition in a three-way countback from Mal Goodieson and Peter Lynch.
NTPs: 8th – Ray Pain; 12th – Ian Doering; 18th – Mal Goodieson. Nathan picked up a dozen balls in the Gregg’s Steel “Eagles Nest”.
Saturday, July 9 was the second round of the RCAM Machinery Golden Putter.
In the daily competition for the ladies the winner was Sue Gathercole on +3 from Naomi Pitt on +2.

Men’s daily winners were: A Grade: Rodney Begg on +2 on a countback from Nic Goodieson and B Grade winner was Ray Pain on +4 from Brad Morgan on +2.

Winner of the Golden Putter played over two weekends were Sally Jones with square and -3 from Naomi Pitt -6 and +2; men’s Rodney Begg -1 and +2 from Brad Morgan _2 and +2 .
Today is Stableford for both ladies and men with the men playing off the white markers. On Saturday it is Stroke and Monthly Medal for both men and women.

RESULTS from week commencing Monday, July 4:
The final round of the 2022 Ladies Club Championships was contested on Thursday and although Lisa Garioch had a comfortable lead, she took nothing for granted and played a very impressive game (80 off the stick) to be rewarded with her sixth club championship trophy. A very deserving win Lisa.
It was a tight tussle in B Grade between Adel Dal Corobbo and Dot Knight but Adel prevailed, and Margie Dunlop had C Grade covered from all angles.
Club champion and A Grade scratch – Winner: Lisa Garioch 87/85/80 = 252; runner-up: Suzy Conquest 94/89/90 = 273. A Grade handicap: Suzy Conquest 74/69/70 = 213; runner-up: Lisa Garioch 77/75/70 = 222.
B Grade: Winner: Adel Dal Corobbo 102/99/105 = 306; runner-up: Dorothy Knight 105/101/101 = 307. B Grade handicap: Winner: Dorothy Knight 78/74/74 = 226; runner-up: Maree Irvin 77/76/78 = 231.
C Grade: Winner: Marg Dunlop 104/107/112 = 323; runner-up: Janette Mason 114/117/112=343. C Grade handicap: Winner: Marg Dunlop 71/74/79 = 224; runner-up: June Hensgen 79/75/75 = 229.
Suzy Conquest put together three terrific games to be the winner of the Heather Bothroyd Perpetual Trophy for the best total nett score over the three rounds in all grades with 213.
Tuesday, July 5 was a Stableford event for the ladies and Roz Nash had a very pleasing round of 38 points to win.
Balls: (2) 36 points on a countback. NTPs: Trentham Wines 4th – Roylene Bailey (202cm); 7th Chitra Rankin (180cm); Sunbeam Fruits 12th – Roylene (124cm); 18th – Caroline James (242cm).
Julie Holland had 15 points to win the nine holes on Tuesday.
The men were playing for their Monthly Medal last Wednesday and the overall best score of the day came for Lachlan Highdale with a lovely (97/69), but not before a countback against Brendan Bower (86/69). Graeme Southwell (83/72) was in top spot in A Grade followed by Michael Holcroft (78/73) on a countback from Ash Robinson and Anthony Harmes.
Brendan Bower may have missed the monthly award, but he did have a super score (86/69) to take out the B Grade win, from Jordan Appleby (96/72).
Balls: (16) 76 nett on a countback. Tom Vadlja played the par five 11th hole beautifully, leaving with an Eagle.

Thursday’s daily comp saw our ladies’ club champion Lisa Garioch playing the game of her life to be the clear winner (80/69), with Suzy Conquest (90/72) also putting in a great score for runner-up.

Friday’s medley nine-hole Stableford saw a very nice 23 points from Tom Wilkinson winning the day over Matt Highdale on 21 points.
Balls: (17) 17points on a countback.
It was the Drummonds Par for the men last Saturday in two grades. The overall winner of the day, with a mighty (+5) was Glen Walker.
The A Grade was won by Barry Pilgram with his (+2) from Josh Fleming (+1). It was a duplicate for B Grade, with a (+2) from Graeme Irvin winning and the runner-up going the way of Ken Upton (+1).
Balls (15) minus one.

Sunday was medley Stableford and the men’s captain Kendall Marchment had a fine 37points to take top spot in A Grade in front of Mark Woodhouse on 36 points.
The score of the day came from Opo Tenupale, with an excellent 42 points, from Ryan Zeppel runner-up with a lovely 40 points.
Balls: (9) 33 points. Reece Farr had a perfect eagle on the par five 14th.

LADIES’ competition Tuesday, July 5:
Tuesday nine holes single Stableford: Winner was Dawn Jackson with 19 points from runner-up Isobel Westhead on 16 points.
Tuesday 18 holes single Stableford: Winner was Carla Sherriff (27) with a particularly good score of 40 points from runner-up Valerie Whitelaw (38) on 38 points.

A Grade winner and the best score of the day went to John Williams (17) with a nett 67 from runner-up Keith Williams (15) nett 70 on a countback from a visitor from Warragul Leigh Greening (15) also on nett 70.
B Grade winner was Stephen Reberger (21) with a solid nett 69 to win by three from runner-up Tony Dal Corobbo (32) on nett 72 on a countback from Rod Truman (20) also on nett 72.
Balls: 21 balls and 74 nett or better collected.

Saturday, July 9 the men played for the July Monthly Medal and 96 players took to the course that was set up to challenge with tricky pin placements and rolled greens.
A Grade winner was peter Miatke (10) with a solid score of 70 nett to win from runner-up Keith Williams (14) on 71 nett and third place went to Frank Crouch (14) on 73 nett.
B Grade winner was Robert Briggs (16) on nett 72 from runner-up Tony Beyen (19) on 74 nett on a countback from Ken Byrne (17) also on 74 nett.
C Grade winner and shooting the best score of the day was Ben Nitschke (23) on 65 nett from runner-up Fred Stewart (22) on 68 nett and third place went to Robert Shipsides (28) on 71 nett.
24 balls were handed out in the ball comp that went to 76 nett on a countback, showing the course was the overall winner.

It was sad news when we heard of the passing of long-term member Frank Tippett. Members wish to offer their condolences to family and friends of Frank for their loss.
WENTWORTH
Thursday’s Stableford again saw Annete Green to the fore continuing on with her winning ways her 37 points was enough to beat Bill Slee on a countback with 37 points.
Balls: Howard Hankinson 34 and John Stephens 33.
NTP: Bill Slee 165cm on 17.
Mr Risky going to Jeff Woodroffe on a countback from Dave Gardener on 18 points.
Remember all strokes need to be counted, you are only fooling yourself.
VETERANS
IT was a cold start to last week’s championship round at Red Cliffs. A smaller-than-expected field took part. It was unanimously agreed that the course was in its best condition for a long time. It’s a credit to the ground staff and members who manage it.
The ladies that prepared lunch served a delicious two-course meal that was enjoyed by all. Thank you to all involved.
This year, for the first time, a prize for third place was awarded.
For the record, 32 players competed and the overall champion was Mark Woodhouse with a round of 82.
In A Grade the scratch winner was Keith Williams with a score of 86 and handicap winner was David Lloyd on 87/72. In third place was Jill Gleeson with a score of 88/74.
In B Grade the scratch winner was Tom Wilkinson with his score of 98. The handicap winner was Ray Pain with 106/75 and in third place was Ken Evans with 109/75.
The ball winners were Barry Pilgrim, Garry Swallow, Graeme Southwell, Ned Klemm, Peter Gilmore, Rob Chase, Bruce Mathieson and John Green.
The Nearest the Pin winners were Greg King on the 3rd, Ned Klemm on the 8th, Garry Swallow on the 12th and 15th and Keith Williams on the 17th.
There were two new members who joined up on the day. They were Jill Gleeson and Jenny Gowers.
