TODAY the men play an 18-hole Stableford event and the women will have a choice of a nine or 18-hole Stableford event.

Friday is a medley nine-hole Stableford and the course will be closed on Christmas Day with a nine-hole Stableford on Boxing Day.

Last Wednesday the men played a stroke event for golf shoes. Winner – Brendon Garlett 65 net; runner-up – Barry Waters 66 net; third – Jeff Giddings 69 net; fourth – Michael James: 69 nett

Friday was the medley President’s Port 12-hole Stableford. Winner – Ray Lyons 22 points; runner-up – Lachlan Murdoch 22 points.

Saturday the men played Stableford.

A Grade: Winner – Mark Woodhouse 42 points; runner-up – Matthew Pascoe 41 points; third – Alan Scorer 38 points.

B Grade: Winner – Steve Morrell 39 points; runner-up – Bruce Summerfield 37 points; third – Mark Alvey 37 points.

C Grade: Winner – Aaron Andriske 36 points; runner-up – Rob Armstrong 35 points; third – Justin Freeman 34 points.

Balls: (22) 34 to 42 points.

Saturday the women played Stableford. Winner – Lee Bottomley: 35 points; runner-up – Jodene Tuau 33 points; third – Ninette Mammone 33 points.

Sunday was a medley Stableford: Winner – Fuat Karayilan 39 points; runner-up – Salli Fox 38 points.

Balls: (10) 34 to 39 points.

NTPs: 3rd – Michael Smallwood 1600cm; 7th – Gary Thomas 191cm; 11th –Kendall Marchment – 535cm; 18th – Darren Bottomley 300cm.

WENTWORTH

CHRISTMAS has arrived and so has Annette Green, giving the men a hiding this week in both competitions.

Stableford winner was Annette Green with 39 points; runner-up was Gary Bourke with 36 points.

Ball winners were Col Stewart on 34 points and Howard Hankinson on 32 points.

NTP: 8th — Glen Walker 190cm.

Mr Risky also to Glen Walker with 24 points.

Winner of the stroke event was Annette Green on, runner-up Bill Slee on 73 net.

Ball winner was John Stephens 75 net.

NTP: 2nd — Bill Murray 360cm.

Mr Risky was Ged Chapman with 85 net (Ged requested that we take the trees away).

IT was a relief to have a few of days of cooler weather, but boy did we get a sweat up on the other days. The heat and the Christmas rush certainly reduced the field sizes.

Glenn Butterworth put in a great round in the Veteran and Friends competition on Monday, December 13, winning on 38 points.

The only NTP went to Greg King on the 7th with 108cm.

It was a nine hole comp for the ladies on Tuesday, December 14, with Leonie Nott having a lovely score of 20 points for her win.

Dora Stewart was NTP on the 4th with 1000cm.

Wednesday’s comp for the men was a 4BBB Stableford with a countback needed to determine the placings.

The pair of Ash Robinson and Peter Schroeder made it theirs after landing the better back nine, in front of Andrew Forbes and Jason Marks, who grabbed second place, when both teams finished on a mighty 43 points.

NTPs: 4th – John Denman 320cm; 7th – Ash Robinson 400cm; 12th – Grant Giddings 29cm; 18th – David Lloyd 195cm.

There was an 18 hole and nine hole Stableford for the ladies on Thursday. Carol Benning had a nice 17 points to win the nine hole competition.

The scores in the 18 hole event were excellent, with Di Benham coming in with a scorching 40 points to take the win over Adel Dal Corobbo, sizzling her way to 39 points.

NTPs were: 4th – Adel Dal Corobbo 560cm; 12th – Chitra Rankin 107cm; 18th – Nora Paech had a birdie.

Friday’s medley nine hole Stableford saw Brodie Peters on a great score of 24 points, winning three shots ahead of Rob Garioch on 21 points.

Saturday was also a team event, with the ladies and men playing for the Wagner’s Butchery hams.

Adam Shepherd and Simon Dean had an absolute pearler, blitzing the field and completing a sensational round of 80 points in the fun game, well maybe not for all, multiplier. Their nearest rivals finished on 74 and had to endure a three-way countback.

Steve Wilmann and Mick Hawtin put their luck to the test to be runner-up. Next in line was the ladies pair of Selma Mayne and Di Benham, followed by Peter and David Williams.

NTPs: Men: 4th – Damen Southgate 232cm; 7th – Jacob Dickason 142cm; 12th – Stephen Smith 280cm; 17th – Chris O’Brien 126cm ;18th – Tim Donaldson 195cm. Ladies: 4th – Ros Nash 370cm; 7th – Di Benham 500cm; 12th – Nora Paech 240cm; 18th – Lorraine Palmer 19cm.

Sunday’s medley Stableford brought up the round of the week after Ryan Zeppel smashed out a great 41 points, with Wayne Sievewright collecting runner-up on a very fine 39 points.

NTP’s: 4th – Kendall Marchment 400cm; 7th – Paul Danenburg 380cm.MILDURA

THE ladies stableford event on Tuesday, December 10, was won by Valerie Whitelaw on 38 points with a comfortable margin from next placegetter Mabel Crouch (31).

Wednesday’s men’s stableford was played in two grades with Gary Fumberger chalking up the win in A Grade with a fine 40 points from runner up Andrew Stanbrook (38) and Neville Hodgetts (38).

John Hiskins won the Gateway voucher in B Grade with his 40 points over second place Nigel Ingram (38) then Geoff Crozier settled for third place (37).

NTPs: 1st — Paul Leonard and Simon Kelly 196cm; 2nd — Pat Rogan 71cm and John Williams (pig pin) 590cm; 10th — Alan McAskill 580cm; 12th — Alan Steedman 112cm. Ball rundown went to a countback at 34 points.

Saturday was a 4BBB medley stableford competition with Xmas hams provided for the main place getters in the event.

Best score returned in the round was 49 points from winners Aaron Robson and Wayne Gill, closely followed by Brett Beswick and Mark Bresnehan (48), then Emmalee Beggs and Michael White (47).

The Vets stableford on Monday was won by John Williams on 36 points and Doug Mathews settled for second at (37).

Today is Mens Stableford event and stableford rounds have been arranged for Sunday, Monday and Tuesday over Xmas.MERBEIN

WINNER on Wednesday, December 15, was Greg Marshall on 36 points from Graham Kerr on 35.

NTPs: 2nd – Ken Matulic 777cm; 3rd – Ken Matulic 165cm; 16th – Greg Marshall 600cm; 18th – Frank Crouch 710cm.

Saturday was the Monthly Medal – for the Medalist Of The Year stroke.

The winner was Jason Binding with 70 nett ahead of Terry Fitzpatrick on 73.

Ken Matulic won a ball with 74 nett.

NTPs: 2nd – Alan Gourlay 280cm; 3rd – Roger Walder 395cm; 3rd – “Pigeon” Roger Walder; 6th – Ken Matulic 595cm; 12th – Ken Matulic AFLW; 16th – John Bell 500cm; 18th – Ken Matulic 202cm.

Coming up, today is a stableford, there is no competition on Christmas Day and in lieu of that, stableford will be played on Monday.
