RIVERSIDE
The AGM was held on November 30 and a life membership was awarded to Alan Connolly who has put his heart and soul into Riverside Golf Club over many years and was very deserving of the award.
November 29 saw Keith Willis win on a nice 38 points, over Alan Connolly with 33 in the veteran and friends competition.
NTPs: 7th – Neil Bryant (495cm); 18th – Ron Hall (950cm).
Chitra Rankin continued her consistent golf, winning the nine-hole Stableford on Tuesday with a lovely 19 points, on a countback from Jan Hiscock.
Meg Hamence picked up both NTPs on the 12th (1190cm) and 18th (56cm).
It was Stableford for the men on Wednesday. Damien Arney was the A Grade winner after his fine 38 points in front of Keith Willis on 37, following a countback against the man of the moment, Alan Connolly.
Kevin Kirirua-Gill finished on 37 points to win B Grade over runner-up John Wass on 34.
NTPs: 4th – Ken Hornsby (76cm); 18th – Michael Holcroft (406cm).
The ladies enjoyed their Christmas break-up on Thursday with a nine-hole triple three, followed by lunch.
A countback was needed to determine the placings with the team of Heather Klemm, Meg Hamence and May Connolly coming out the better in front of Jen Leach, Verna Wakefield and Cath Kent, both teams on 38 points.
NTPs were taken out by Chitra Rankin on the 4th (270cm) and 7th (435cm).
A very pleasing field of 61 played in the nine-hole Stableford on Friday and Tezza Simpson had a great round of 21 points to win, with Mick Faulkhead runner-up on a countback over Rob Garioch and John Frazer, all on 20 points.
The last two rounds of the men’s club championships was contested on the weekend with some very close battles.
Together with the third round, players were also fighting it out for the Monthly Medal.
In Saturday’s daily results A Grade went to Rakii Woetai with a net 68, from Matty Adams on 69 net, after a countback with Alex Spooner.
Matt Kirirua-Gill also had a winning score of 68 net, which rewarded him with the B Grade medal, over Brad Winslow on 69 net.
A mighty round from Ricky Hayes gave him not only the C Grade medal, but the round of the day, by a mile. Ricky’s 84/64 blitzed the field, with runner-up, Austin Riley landing a nice 69 net.
Leigh Fuller popped his ball in the hole on the par four 10th for an eagle and Alex Spooner had his eagle on the par five 14th.

In Sunday’s daily competition in A Grade Matty Adams with 68 net from Ash Whitehouse 69 net.
Tony Coppola had a pleasing day, winning B Grade with 70 net, over Joshua Fleming on 71 net.
Michael Salter had to battle out a countback before taking the win in C Grade from Rocky Pipicella, both with a 71 net.

VETERANS
THE Riverside Golf Club’s course was in excellent condition for the vets as the club had concluded its championships on the weekend.
The 57 players competed in a single Stableford event, where the A Grade winner Ken Upton edged out Peter Gilmore, both scoring a credible 37 points.
A one point margin separated the B Grade winner Bill Forrester from Rob Arnold, who finished on 38 and 37 respectively.
Ball winners needed a score of 32 points or more. Those who achieved that were Ken Wakefield, John Fraser, Ned Klemm, George Poriazis, Glenn Butterworth, Bruce Mathieson, John Wass, Ray Lyons, Wayne Innes, Grant Giddings, Greg King, Peter Dooley, Michael Englefield, Ron Hall, Graeme Southwell and George Mason.
NTPs: 4th — Ned Klemm; 7th — Keith Williams; 12th — Doug Matthews; 18th — Ken Upton.
Our thanks to the team at Riverside for the lunch, the course preparation and the hospitality enjoyed after the game. It was great to have Steve Spooner help with the day’s presentation.
The meeting discussed the concept of reintroducing badges for all members. It was decided that all members will receive a badge at our next game courtesy of the generosity of our daily sponsor. Thanks Steve.
All players who were present participated in a Christmas raffle with everyone receiving a gift as a means of finishing off a challenging but very successful year. Our next event is in March 2022.
COOMEALLA
PLAY on Wednesday, December 1, was Stableford.
A Grade winner was Michael Golitschenko with 38 points from Greg Rhodes and Craig Tung (37).
B Grade winner was Stephen Smith with 40 points from Geoff Sayers and Craig Tung (37), and Jeff Stewart won C Grade with 39 points from Ben Camilleri (39) and Rod Hand (35).

MILDURA
ON Tuesday, November 30, the Mildura ladies ran a nine-hole Stableford on the back nine for their Christmas break-up competition and following a countback on 20 points, the eventual winner was Carla Sherriff with Bev Stone the runner up.
Friday’s twilight nine-hole event winner was Sandra Hutchinson on a countback from Bev Stone with 19 Stableford points.
Wednesday’s men’s stroke winners were Ron Casey in A Grade with net 67 from Phillip Nash (69) and Cesare Fraiia (70), while Paul Wilton took out the B Grade monthly mug a countback from Ian Nimon (net 70) and Newton Morrison settled for third spot (71).
NTPS: 1st – Phil Nash (15cm); 2nd – Jamie Lanyon, ‘pig pin’ (182cm); 12th – Peter Miatke (200cm). Ball rundown went to a countback on net 73.
Saturday was medal day in three grades and the winner of A Grade section on net 69 was Wayne Gill, ahead of Tom Crouch and Neville Hodgetts (both 71).
The winning form continues for Andrew Stanbrook, returning the best overall score on the day to collect the B Grade Monthly Medal with net 66, ahead of Cesare Fraiia (70) and Craig Wright (71), while in C Grade, Peter Morrish chalked up a win on net 69 from Mark Bresnehan (70) and James Pippin (71).
NTPs: 1st – Newton Morrison; 2nd – Ken Byrne ‘pig pin’; 10th – Terry Buckingham (137cm); 12th – Tom Crouch (157cm). Balls went to net 74 on the day.
Today’s play is men’s Stableford, Friday twilight nine-holes and a ladies’ comp, Saturday medley Stableford, Monday veterans and Tuesday Stableford for the ladies’ nine and 18-hole events.
WENTWORTH
THURSDAY’S play was Stableford with Bill Slee returning to the winners’ list with 37 points. New member Gary Clark returned 33 points to be runner-up.
Ball winner was the consistent “arrow” Col Stewart with 32 points.
NTP: 17th — Howard Hankinson (200cm).
Mr Risky went to Jeff Woodroffe on a countback with 13 points.
Sunday was a stroke round with Bill Slee the winner with a 73 net. Runner-up was Ged Chapman on 77.
Ball winner was John Stephens also on 77.
NTP: 12th – Howard Hankinson (500cm).
Mr Risky also went to Howard Hankinson with 88 net.
New Year’s Day competition will be a two-person Ambrose.
MERBEIN
THE winner on Wednesday, December 1, was Graham Kerr with 33 points, ahead of Terry Fitzpatrick (32).
NTPs: 2nd – Greg Marshall (560cm); 8th – Ken Matulic (AFLW); 12th – Roger Walder (550cm).
On Saturday Jason Binding continued his good recent form by winning the monthly medal with 68 net, ahead of Craig Hocking on 70 net.
Balls went to Steve Russell (74) and Greg Marshall (76 on countback).

Today’s play is Stableford, Saturday’s is a 4BBB Stableford and Sunday’s is the club’s inaugural par 3 open – a 12.30pm shotgun start, for $20 including barbecue and great prizes on each hole.
RED CLIFFS
ON Wednesday members played medley Stableford. The A Grade winner was Michael Morrall on 38 points on a countback from Faye Englefield.
In B Grade the winner was Peter Knight on 38 points from Rita Chase on 37.
NTPs: 8th – Kevin Leach and Sally Jones; 12th – Mal Blagus; 15th – Liz Leach; 17th – Peter Lynch; 18th – Peter Lynch.
Saturday’s game was medley stroke for the Summer Monthly Medal, and also the first round of the Ray Pain Summer Trophies.
In the daily results Michael Hogan, with a super 69 net, won the A Grade medal from John Filippi on 73.
In B Grade there was another super 69 net from Don Fiorillo to win the medal from Sandra Marwood on 71.
