Mildura
Tuesday’s Ladies Foursomes competition had Rhonda Young and Fran Richards win the scratch event (139) while Ann Bowen and Janet Fumberger settled for a close second place (140). The handicap event winners on the day were Ann and Janet with 108.5 nett and the runners up were Jan Meirswa and Sheryleen McGlashan 113.25 nett.
Nearest the pin prizes went to Janet Stanbrook, Margaret Morrison and Glenys Anderson.
The nine hole event was won by Marlene Charlesworth on 20 stableford points. Amy Plush (17) was runner up.
Wednesday’s Men’s competition was a combined stableford. John Simpson and Robert Shipsides won with a combined score of 69. Rob Pallet and Peter Briggs were a close second on countback from third placed John Hardie and Bruce Dickie 67 points.
NTP: 1st – Boof Ferguson (283cms), 10th – Steve Fumberger (650), 12th – Robert Young (32).
Pig pin prize: 2nd – Rob Pallet (409).
Results for Monthly Medal and first day of club championships held on Saturday started with a three-way countback in A grade. Daniel Tung took the win from second place Tim Mitchell and Rob Toms in third. All three finished on 71 nett.
B grade: Jayden Boehm won on 69. Nigel Ingram (71 nett) placed second on a countback ahead of John Hardie.
C grade: John Green won on 72. Runner up was Robin Hubble (73) and Ian Nimon placed third (74).
NTP: 1st – Peter Miatke (54). Pig pin prize: 2nd – Daniel Tung (450), 10th – Trevor Rogers (93), 12th – Andrew Keogh (200).
Daily ball rundown went to a countback on 76 nett.
Saturday’s medal winners from A grade and B grade followed up with even better scores to win their divisions in Sunday’s stroke round played in cold windy conditions. Daniel Tung won ‘A grade with 69 nett from Ashley Whitehouse (75) while the win in B grade went to Jayden Boehm with an outstanding 66 nett and comfortable lead from runner up Frank Crouch (73).
NTP: 1st – Jeff Lay (315), 10th – Neville Hodgetts (410), 12th – Glenn Marr (685). Ball rundown to nett 78.
After two rounds in the club championships, the placings are as follows: A grade: Greg Rhodes (151), Daniel Tung (154), Joe Morello (155). B grade: Trevor Spanos (176), Tim Mitchell (176), Steve Fumberger (177). C grade: J Boehm (171), Nigel Ingram (185), John Green (188).
Wednesday’s men’s event is Par. Friday is Twilight 9 holes and Ladies 18 round. Saturday and Sunday stroke and final day of club championships. Next Monday will be the 22nd veterans comp and a Ladies stableford will follow on Tuesday.
Coomealla
ANNETTE Green mastered wet and windy conditions to win Thursday’s Stableford event with 34 points. Col Stewart was runner up (33) while the ball winner was Paul Buttigieg (also 33).
NTP: Bill Murray 12th (430). Mr Risky went to Hayden Sheehan with 19 points.
Sunday’s Stroke had similar conditions to Thursday. Howard Hankinson played a fine round to post 70 nett. Col Stewart was runner up on 72.
Ball winner Bill Murray 73.
NTPs: 2nd Ged Chapman (95). Mr Risky to Bill Slee 89 nett.
Going into the final round of the Club Championship, only five strokes separated six players. In the end Howard Hankinson 79/70 was declared the Champion on a count back. Col Stewart, being as consistent as anyone, returned 77/72 to be runner up.
Merbein
Last Wednesday saw Frank Crouch (37 points) take the victory ahead of Ken Matulic (35).
NTP: 2nd – Ken Matulic, 3rd – Ken Matulic, 12th – Graham Kerr (730cm) and 18th – Greg Marshall (315cm).
On Saturday the second round of the Club Championships was held. Jason Binding continued his great form, scoring 68 nett. Anthony Lee was runner up (70 nett).
Ball comp: Maxi Trinick 73 nett, with Graeme Dunne 74 nett and Steve Russell 75 nett on countback.
NTPs: 2nd – Glen Wallace (600cm), 3rd – Joel Finch (211cm) who also had a ‘pigeon’ on the 3rd. 6th – Peter Shadwick (675cm), 12th – Peter Shadwick (197cm), 14th – Alan Gourlay (264cm), 16th – Roger Walder (750c,) and 18th – Glen Wallace (390cm).
Meat raffle winner was Fox Mulder.
Upcoming events include Wednesday’s Stroke, while the final round of Club Championships including the Monthly medal will run on Saturday, November 20.
Seeded groups have been brought back for those who can play in the Club Championships. C Grade will tee off at 12.30pm, B Grade at 12.37pm and A/B Grade to begin at 12.44pm.
There will be a sausages and onions available on the day – a gold coin donation would be appreciated.
Red Cliffs
Wednesday was the final day of competition for the 2020-21 season.
Daily competition for the ladies was a 4BBB Stableford with a SGS followed by the yearly presentations. The winners of the day were Bobbie Ramsay and Lea Walmsley on 46 points from Rita Chase and Anne Newberry on 43 on a countback.

In the men’s competition, Mal Blagus, on 37 points, was the winner on a countback from Neil Wilkie.

Saturday was the Medley Stableford – First round of the Summer Cup.
John Filippi on 38 points was the A Grade winner from Lewis Young, 37 points, on a countback. In B Grade, Sue Poole on 39 points was the winner from Catherine Lanigan on 38 points.

Riverside
The fields were slightly less, but you’ll never keep away the diehard golfers as unseasonable wintry conditions hit.
Monday’s Veteran and Friends comp saw Rob Arnold put in a winning score of 37 points. Peter George placed second on a countback (36pts) from Les Ball.
NTP: 18th – Gary Sharman (185cm).
Marie Hudak made the most of her 35 points in the Ladies 18 Hole Stableford on Tuesday, with Roz Nash in second place after a count back against Adel Dal Corobbo.
NTP: 4th – Anne Parker (180cm), 18th – Heather Klemm (50cm).
After a lengthy time away from the Fairways, Pat Riordan has arrived back to a lovely win, after finishing on a pleasing 22 points in the nine-hole comp. Sally Watson was runner up on a fine 21pts.
It was Stableford for the Men on Wednesday, in two Grades.
The A Grade was taken out by Chris Curley, on an excellent 41 points. Dean Vance (Coomealla) had 38s and came away in second place.
Another nice score in B Grade gave Frank Taperell the win, with 40 points, from Michael Englefield on 39.
Chris Curley also came away with a fantastic eagle on the par four, sixth hole.
NTP: 4th – Alan Connolly (190cm) , 7th – Paul Wilkinson (220cm), 12th – Craig Jervies (470cm), 17th – Graeme Southwell (270cm) and 18th – Peter George (531cm).
The Ladies played Stableford on Thursday, with Suzy Conquest having a nice day and leaving with the win, after her 37pts. Janette Mason had a battle with Lauris Hicks to grab runner-up, with both on 36pts.
NTPs: 4th – Lyn Delmenico (487cm), 12th – Dot Knight (128cm), 18th – Caroline James (Birdie).
The nine-hole comp was won by Carol Benning with 13pts.
Friday’s nine hole Medley Stableford was determined by a count back, with Jarrod Beard using all of his luck to come away with the win, over Dallas Kalms, both on 21 points.
It was a 4BBB Stableford for the Ladies on Saturday, with the pair of Lisa Garioch and Tracy Bryan smashing out 42 points to win, in front of Tracey Lee and Heather Klemm on 39, after a count back against Caroline James and Lirlene Crozier.
The men contested the Richardson Lever 4 Ball Stableford on Saturday. It was the pair of Peter George and Gary Sharman who put together the winning score of 46 points. Second place went to Riley Austin and Tezza Simpson, after a count back against Mark Tregeagle and Ryan McCraig, with both pairs having 45 points.
NTP: 4th – Wayne Innes (223cm), 7th – Paul White (122cm), 12th – Rob Garioch (480cm), 17th – Paul Reed (58cm) and 18th – Shane Johnson (77cm).
Frank Taperell had another good win on Sunday, in the Medley Stableford, coming in with 42 points. The Innes Brothers fought out a count back for runner up and Mick came away with the honours, over Wayne, both on 38 points.
Veterans
After a longer than normal delay the veteran golfers have been able to complete the November event at the Mildura Golf Club. In blustery and unusually cold day, 49 players competed in the single Stableford event.
A countback was needed to separate the A grade leaders. The winner with 33 points was John Wass. He finished ahead of ‘Boof’ Ferguson who also scored the same credible total. The winner in B Grade was clearer with Rod Gray (38 points) two points ahead of the runner up Maurice Munro.
Ball winners needed a score of 29 or more. They were Peter Knight, Bruce Mathieson, Bev Matthews, Tony Dal Corobbo, Bill Forrester, Rob Arnold, George Poriazis, Keith Williams, Alan Steedman, Wayne Innes, Michael Ingelfield, Gary Sharman and Col Hadenbach.
Nearest the Pin prizes went to Boof Ferguson on the second, Gary Sharman on the 10th and George Mason on the 12th.
We welcomed five new members this month. Martin Dane, Mark Englefield, Graeme Irvine, Barry Pilgrim and Ken Wakefield joined the association this week.

We conducted our AGM and details will follow next week. The next meeting will be held at the Riverside Golf Course on Monday, December 6, which will be the Christmas event and the last for the year.
