VETERANS

THE November event for district veteran golfers is always scheduled for the second Monday of that month because of the Melbourne Cup long weekend.

Our members gave feedback that they wanted this situation. It is one example of how the association looks after its members. We adopt a flexible approach that best serves the interest of district clubs and players.

It is with this approach in mind, and due to unforeseen circumstances, that the next event for the Sunraysia District veteran golfers has had to be rescheduled a further week until Monday, November 15. We are sorry for any inconvenience. The decision is in the best interest of players. Please convey this message to fellow veteran golfers.

With the lifting of the COVID lockdown we are able to have our single Stableford competition. We will return to the normal format of having a nearest-the-pin competition and a lunch while still compiling with distance and crowd requirements. It is wise to be double-vaccinated.

At our annual general meeting we will discuss and make decisions regarding the next 12 months. It is important that we gave good numbers in attendance to consider the ideas that will help our competition continue to be successful.

It is also an opportunity for members to consider taking a leadership role to spread the workload fairly. Nominations are needed, so please consider how you might be able to assist. There are plenty of people willing to support you. Please consider.

RIVERSIDE

THERE will be many relieved golfers in Victoria at the moment. It’s been a long wait to get back to somewhat normal golf.

We may not be out of the woods yet, as far as this pandemic goes, but we are certainly wearing it down. If we all follow the guidelines life will get back to its old self soon.
