Veterans

Rob Toms (A Grade scratch winner), John Williams (A Grade handicap winner), Terry Buckingham (B Grade scratch winner), Alan Steedman (B Grade handicap winner) and champion Mark Woodhouse were all smiles after their Veterans’ triumphs.

IN retrospect, the district veteran golfers have been fortunate to have been able to complete their championship event.

Held less than two weeks ago at the Coomealla Golf Resort, it was finished hours before new stricter restrictions were being introduced. Just one day later, the club would not have been able to provide the players with a lunch. Now, with the total lockdown of New South Wales, the event would have been cancelled or postponed.

Our next event is scheduled for Monday, September 6, at the Robinvale Golf Club. Importantly ,the single Stableford event can go ahead if the current restrictions remain as Sunraysia members can travel to Robinvale without crossing into New South Wales. It will take a little longer to travel there via the Calder Highway so members will need to factor that into their planned departure time. At the moment it is envisaged that we will hold a normal round with the same starting time, costs and processes as usual. The club has carts for hire and can be booked by contacting them.

Given that Victorian metropolitan veteran association members can’t enjoy a game, it is important that we take advantage of our good luck while supporting our association and district clubs in these tough times. We do this by attending in good numbers. The club has a great record of looking after us. Don’t be deterred by the restrictions but make the effort of getting down there to enjoy a great day.
