WENTWORTH

BILL Slee again proved you don’t need handicap to win on Thursdays, taking the spoils with 34 points.

Annette Green (33) played very consistently to finish runner-up.

NTP was: Howard Hankinson (eighth, 1050). Mr Risky went to new player Paul Buttiegieg (27).

Sunday’s stroke winner was also Slee with 77 and runner-up in six straight events was Green (78).

NTP was: Green (second, 775). Mr Risky went to Glen Walker (90).

COOMEALLA

WEDNESDAY’S A Grade comp was won by Thorell Lees (71) ahead of Phil Matotek (73) on countback from Darren Murnane.

B Grade went to Aaron Duck (70) over  Bryan James (71) and Sunny Vui (73).

NTPs were: Lees (third, 85), Craig Tung (seventh, 299), Mark McDonald (11th, 351) and Duck (18th, 219).

Wednesday’s ladies’ event was clinched by Marg Midgley (73) by a point from Lee Bottomley (74).

NTPs were: Ros Hocking (third, 60, seventh, 720, and 18th, 126) and Janice Walker (11th, 110).

Friday’s medley nine-hole Stableford went to Larry Frasca (18) on countback from Kym James.

NTPs were: James (11th, 400, and 18th, 112).

Saturday’s men’s A Grade winner was  Dave Hancock (38) by two points over Jarrad Stokker (36) and then Ben Pitt (35).

Peter Cottrell (37) won B Grade on countback from Zac Weight. Tim Nunan (36) was third. 

NTPs were: Daryl Morgan (third, 82), Greg Rhodes (seventh, 198, and 18th, 219) and Aaron Duck (11th, 265).

Sunday’s medley Stableford went to Greg Rhodes (35), narrowly ahead of Kerry Gray (34).

NTPs were: Rhodes (third, 505, and 11th, 220) and Justin McPhee (18th, 702).

Congratulations to McPhee and Lees on their eagles on the 12th hole on Wednesday.

MERBEIN

G’DAY members, a delay in results to the paper last week, but we didn’t want to miss getting them in. 

With COVID-19 making its way up here and the current lockdown, please pay close attention to health alerts and please don’t play if we are not allowed to.

Wednesday saw an Irish Stableford won by Graeme Kerr (38) over Frank Crouch (35).

NTPs were: Crouch (second, 495), Frank Zambito (third, 143, and 12th, 143) and Graeme Kerr (14th, 410).

Saturday was the July monthly medal with the win going to Terry Fitzpatrick (74)  over Keryn Neindorf (77).

NTPs were: Terry Fitzpatrick (third, 494) and Zambito (14th, 320).

RED CLIFFS

ONLY one day of competition was held before the lockdown.

On Wednesday, the ladies played Stableford and the winner in A Grade was Jill Gleeson (34) from Kay Hart (33).

In B Grade, Rita Chase eventually found the middle of the fairway and scored a lovely 40 points to win from Sandy Wright (37).

NTPs were: Sue Gathercole (eighth),  Liz Leach (12th) and Margaret Stanbrook (15th and 17th).

The men played Stableford, off the white markers. Best for the day was Phil Shaw (38) from Neville Birch (35).

NTPs were: Gary Nunn (third), Matt Forward (eighth), Robert Chase (12th), Michael Hogan (17th) and Birch (18th).

God only knows when we will be open again, so until then, do the right thing. Make sure you wear your mask, sanitise your hands and stay safe.

RIVERSIDE

IT was another shortened week of golf for Victoria. Luckily, it has been a few days suited to rugging on the couch. Stay safe Mildura. 

Last Monday was veteran and friends day with Ron Hall smashing out a mighty 42, for a convincing win. Ned Klemm (37) came out the better to be runner-up, after a countback against Ken Wakefield. 

NTP was: John Denman (18th, 250). 

The ladies played par last Tuesday and Rose Gilardi had a super round, finishing with an excellent +6. 

NTPs were: Adel Dal Corobbo (fourth, 108, and 12th, 43) and Lorraine Palmer  (18th, 94). 

Lauris Hicks left a winner in the nine-hole comp, with +2. 

Wednesday’s Stableford for the men was played in two grades with a countback needed to separate the top two in A Grade, on a very fine 38. Dal Stafford took the win over Chris O’Brien. 

Peter Welling would have been extremely pleased with his win in B Grade, after a sizzling 40. A countback saw John Denman (30) in second on countback from Kevin Eastwood. 

John Horkings played two spectacluar shots on the par-four first for an eagle. 

NTPs were: O’Brien (fourth, 145), Graeme Southwell (seventh, 630), Mick Burke (12th, 640), Simon Dale (17th, 800) and Ned Klemm (18th, 385). 

The field numbers on Thursday saw the ladies field two grades for their Stableford comp.

Club champion Lisa Garioch had a ripper 40 points to win A Grade from Suzy Conquest (38). 

Dot Knight (35) pipped Sally Watson by a point in B Grade. 

The shot of the day came from Rose Gilardi on the par-four sixth where she sank her second shot for an eagle. 

NTPs were: Gilardi (fourth, 323), Linda Dickson (seventh, 770) and  Garioch (12th, 1, and 18th – birdie). 

Its not looking good for the golfers for the forseeable future.  Here’s hoping Mildura can keep safe and get back to normal as soon as possible. 

MILDURA

THE Mildura ladies played nine-hole and 18-hole monthly medal Stableford events last Tuesday.

The nine-hole event was won by Kay Baker (20) by a point from Amy Plush. Carla Sheriff (73) claimed the 18-hole section from Margaret Morrison (74), Sue Burgess and Glenda Hiskins (both 75).

NTPs were: Morrison (first, 1400, and 10th, 241), Kaylene Geddes (second, 764) and Mabel Crouch (12th, 675).

The men played single Stableford in two grades last Tuesday. Joe Rocca (40) won A Grade by a point from Neville Hodgetts with Ron Casey (38) third.

B Grade was won by Ron Leamon (40). He was followed by Peter Palazzo (38) and Paul McErvale (37). 

NTPs were: Hodgetts (first, 34), McErvale (second, 137, and 10th, 279) and Alan Steedman (12th, 223).
