VETERANS

FOLLOWING discussions with the Ouyen Golf Club it has been decided to cancel this year’s annual event.

There was a hope that the planned trip organised for early this year could be rescheduled but the course is still not suitable due to a lack of sufficient rain. We hope that we have the opportunity to return next year.

Last week we listened to our guest, the VVGA secretary John Robertson, tell us about distributing information through local secretaries. True to his word, I have been asked to distribute information about this year’s VVGA’s Annual Sandgreen Championship. Details can be found at www.parklandsgolfclub.com.au. The closing date for entries is July 24, so if you are considering playing, get a move along. Members are reminded they can seek financial assistance from our association if they represent our district.

COVID-19 is emerging as a problem for NSW residents so our fingers are crossed that we will be able to travel to Coomealla for our next round. It’s still three weeks away so no need to panic as there currently is a 15-kilometre bubble in place. Being our championship round, we are keen to see it proceed. I still advise players to book a cart if required and remind everyone that there is a requirement of having had played on two previous occasions to be eligible to compete. Being a championship round naturally means that it is a stroke round. So bring your best game.
