MERBEIN

Terry Fitzpatrick won the Wednesday Stableford event with a solid 35 points over Howard McGaffin and Adrian Rudd (34 points).

Nearest the  pins were Ron Moore (third, 344cm), Adrian Rudd (12th, 290cm), Ken Matulick (14th) and Roger Walder (18th).

On Saturday a Stableford was played, with the spoils going to Shane Cordell with a handy 38 points over Adrian Rudd (37 points).

Nearest the pins were Matt Vining (second, 69cm), Max Turvey (third, 232cm), Graeme Dunn (12th, 297cm), Matt Vining (14th, 520cm), Matt Vining (16th, 520cm) and Matt Dean (18th, 180cm).

WENTWORTH

The best round of the Thursdays stableford went to Col Stewart (36 points), showing that the arrows are still sharp.

Runner-up was Annette “Where did this come from?” Green (34 points).

Ball winners were Tom Clark (33) and Garry Bourke (3).

Nearest-the-pin on the second went to improving Howard Hankinson.

Mr Risky went to Jeff Woodroffe (19 points).

A change of grip was a benefit for Howard Hankinson at Sunday stroke, who has won several times in the past month and dominated the field this week with a 68 nett.

Runner-up was Garry Bourke (70 nett).

Ball winners were Col Stewart (73) and Bill Murray (also 73).

Nearest-the-pin was Garry Bourke (180cm, second).

Mr Risky Tomax Hodges enjoyed the ride (90 nett).

RIVERSIDE

On Tuesday the third was a winner for Jan Hiscock (33 points). 

Nearest-the-pins were Jan Hiscock (seventh, 860cm) and May Connolly (12th and 18th, 825cm and 165cm).

The nine-holes comp saw Lauris Hicks use her 16 points to finish on top. 

The men played stableford on Wednesday, with A grade going the way of David Lloyd on an excellent 39 points, three ahead of David Grego (Mount Barker) on 36 points. 

Gary McNally put in a nice round in B Grade, winning with 37 points, in front of Rob Arnold (36 points) after a count-back against Ken Hornsby. 

Nearest-the-pins were David Lloyd (fourth, 43cm), Ash Whitehouse (seventh, 110cm), Reece Merlin (12th, 30cm), David Batterbury (17th, 700cm) and Paul Reed (18th, 105cm). 

It was Jan Hiscock’s week to shine as she put together another winning score in the ladies’ stableford on Thursday, with a round of 34 points. 

Marie Hudak came in second (33 points) but not before a count-back with Pat Riordan and Lyn Saunders. 

Nearest-the-pins were Lorraine Palmer (fourth, 340cm), Lisa Garicoh (seventh and 18th, 655cm and 58cm) and Jen Stephenson (12th, 35cm).

Friday’s nine-hole medley stableford saw Nick Goodieson’s 21 points give him the win over Mark Woodhouse (20 points). 

The ladies comp on Saturday was won by Lyn Delmenico, with a lovely 37 points. 

Nearest the pins were Wendy Dawson (‘fourth and 12th, 1200cm and 85cm) and Pat Riordan (18th, 250cm). 

Saturday was played in two grades for the men and Barry Pilgrim put his 38 points to work, winning A grade. 

After a four-way count back, Dom Glenister grabbed runner-up, followed by Peter Ellery, Chris Curley and Andrew Thomas. 

But the score of the week came from Gary McNally, bobbing up again for the win, this time with a sizzling, super 46 points.

Although Graeme Irvin was second, his score (39 points) was still exceptional. 

Andrew Thomas had three amazing shots on the par-five second hole, leaving with an eagle. 

Nearest the pins were Brad Steer (fourth, 301cm), Jack Graeme (seventh, 235cm), Dom Glenister (12th and 18th, 510cm and 250cm) and Tony Coppola (17th, 305cm). 

Craig George took out the Sunday medley stableford, finishing on 37 points, after a count-back with Bill Beckwith and Mick Innes (both 37 points). 

Nearest-the-pins were George Nicholas (seventh, 98cm), Jim Callaway (12th, 490cm) and Michael Holcroft (18th, 155cm).

RED CLIFFS

ON Wednesday May 5 the ladies winner in A grade was Margaret Stanbrook (-2) from Sandra Marwood (-3). 

The B grade winner was Patsy-Anne Kentwell with a lovely +3, from Carmel Briody finishing square. 

Nearest-the-pins were Gayle Fitos (third), Sharyn Campbell (eighth), Jill Gleeson (12th), Karen Bulman (15th) and Bobbie Ramsay (17th). 

The men played a stableford game off the white markers and the winner was Kevin Leach (37 points) from Geoff Smith (36 points). 

Nearest-the-pins were Gary Nunn (eighth), Michael Hogan (12th) and Michael Hogan (18th).

Saturday’s game was the Annual Captain’s Day 4BBB stableford where two men played against two ladies. 

Also it was the club’s “Pink Day” and everyone dressed in pink and donations were made to the local cancer support group. 

The best for the men were Mal Blagus and Mark Collett (49 points), from Terry Pain and Rodney Gray (48 points). 

For the ladies it was Sue Poole and Ruth Cupper (45 points), from Bobbie Ramsay and Sue Gathercole (44 points). 

The ladies were the winners of the annual grudge match, defeating the men by 10 games to seven.

COOMEALLA

Wednesday’s men’s A grade Winner was Josef Moisidis (38 points).

The runner-up was Christopher Berry (38 points) and third Mark McDonald (37 points).

The B grade winner was David Guild (37 points), from runner-up Michael James (35 points) and third Brendan Bower (35 points).

The C grade winner was Ralf Wagner (41 points), from runner-up David Porter (37 points) and third Bryan James (35 points).

Ball competition: (19) 41 to 33.

Nearest-the-pins were Neil Bryant (third, 214cm), Phil Moisidis (seventh, 202cm), Peter Duscher (11th, 114cm) and Paul Lott (18th, 95cm).

The Wednesday women’s winner was Lee Bottomley (72 nett).

The runner-up was Adel Dal Corobbo (73 nett).

Ball competition: (5) 72 to 74.

Nearest-the-pins were Kate Murdoch (third, 34cm), Lee Bottomley (seventh, 840cm), Adel Dal Corobbo (11th, 83cm) and Lee Bottomley (18th, 115cm).

Friday’s medley nine-hole stableford winner was Bryan James (18 points), from runner-up Troy Neville (17 points).

Nearest-the-pins were Ivan McKenzie (11th, 383cm) and Troy Neville (18th, 980cm).

On Saturday the men’s A grade winner was Phillip Moisidis (66 nett).

The runner-up was Rob Pallot (71 nett) and third Josef Moisidis (72 nett).

The B grade winner was Anthony Mills (69 nett), from runner-up Bruce Summerfield (70 nett) and third Trevor Carroll (70 nett).

The C grade winner was Robert Armstrong (69 nett), from runner-up John Foley (70 nett) and third John Burgess (71 nett).

Ball competition: (21) 66 to 73.

Nearest-the-pins were David Martin (third, 330cm), Patrick Buying (seventh, 160cm), David McDonald (seventh, 570cm) and Rob Pallot (18th, 125cm).

Saturday women’s winner was Lynda Saunders (73 nett), from runner-up Ninette Mammone (73 nett).

Ball competition: (4) 73 to 75.

Nearest-the-pins were Jodene Tuau (third, 98cm), Lynda Saunders (seventh, 299cm), Lynda Saunders (11th, 500cm) and Lee Bottomley (18th, 0cm with the second shot).

Sunday’s medley stableford winner was Debralie James (38 points), from runner-up: Glenn Parker (38 points).

Ball competition: (9) 38 to 34.

Nearest-the-pins were Rob Pallot (seventh, 130 cm) and Ben Doherty (11th, 122 cm).

Congratulation go to Ralf Wagner on his eagle on the second hole.

MILDURA

A field of 36 ladies played a combined stableford competition for their Open Golden Putter and visitors day on Tuesday May 4. 

The winners with a combined stableford score of 65 points were Jan Mierswa and Susan Walmsley. 

Mabel Crouch and Carla Sherriff were second (61 points) and Elaine Henshall and Valerie Whitelaw scored 60 points for third place. 

The men’s monthly mug competition on Wednesday May 5 was in three grades. 

Shay Toma scored nett 68 (off a handicap of -4) for a win in A grade, from Peter Rhodes and Bruce Dickie (both nett 32). 

In B grade, Stephen Reberger had nett 67 – the best nett score of the day – for a win from Ray Quirk and Rod Ford (both 69 nett). 

C grade was won by Donald Wall (68 nett), from Ian Nimon (69) and Alan Steedman (70 nett). 

Golf balls were awarded to 22 players with scores of nett 73 or better. 

Nearest-the-pin awards went to Rob Toms (first, 52cm), Trevor Rogers (second, 295cm, which also won the pig prize), Ron Leamon (10th, 231cm) and Rod Ford (12th, 148cm).

Balls were won by 22 players with a score of 22 points or better.

The men’s medley stableford on Saturday May 8 was also in three grades. 

Geoffrey Hazeldine won A grade with a score of 40 points, from Peter Rhodes and Ron Casey (both 38 points). 

B grade was won by Ernie Tyrrell (37 points); Gavin Harrington was second (36 points) and Rod Ford had 35 points for third place. 

Donald Wall scored 36 points to win C grade, from Bob Shipsides (33 points) and Perry Hill (32 points). 

Balls were handed out to players with 33 points or better. 

Nearest-the-pin prizes were won by Ron Casey (first, eagle), Brendon Gove (second, 147cm), Nigel ingram (second, pig prize, 309cm), Peter Rhodes (10th, 410cm) and Geoffrey Hazeldine (12th, 195cm).

The Mildura veteran men played single stableford on Monday May 10. 

George Poriazis won with a score of 34 points, from Jeff Giddings and Ferdi Bergamin (both 33 points).
