VETERANS

On Monday a big field of 56 veteran players contested the 4BBB stableford event at the Mildura Golf Resort. New members Laurie and George Riordan and Bob Shipsides joined us for what was the first round of this year’s syllabus. All district clubs were well represented on the day.

It is becoming a bit of a habit with the combination of John Green and Terry Buckingham once again emerging as the eventual winners with a score of 43 points. Runners up were Rob Toms and John Williams on a countback from Brian Murphy and Ron Moore with 42 points each. There was a third prize and a NAGA awarded as part of the presentation because of the generosity of our longstanding sponsor. The ball winners were Doug Poole, Loren Rogers, David Lloyd, Wayne Innes, Peter Gilmore, Glenn Butterworth, John Fraser, Alec Catternach, Joe Mitchell, Kevin Jones, Rob Chase, Ron Pain, Greg King and Rob Arnold.

The Nearest the Pin winners were Lorey Rogers on the second, Mark Woodhouse on the 10th and Ron Moore on the 12th.

Thanks as always goes to the club and its staff for their support in making the day so successful.

The next event will be held at the Red Cliffs Golf Club on April 12. The unusual date is due to Easter falling in the first week of that month. It will be a single stableford event.
