MILDURA

THE Mildura ladies played single Stableford on December 29 and the winner was Sue Walmsley who had 40 points. 

Sandra Hutchinson was second on 34 points, and Mabel Crouch scored 32 points to finish third. 

Nearest the pin prizes were won by Bev Matthews (first hole, 282 cm); Rhonda Young (second hole, 400 cm); Sandra Hutchinson (10th hole, 83 cm), and Rhonda Young (12th hole; 290 cm).

The men’s single Stableford on December 30 was in three grades. 

Alan Lillia won A grade with 41 points; David Murray had 39 points for second; and Jeffrey Giddings was third with 37 points. 

George Szentpaly won B grade with 39 points; Bruce Dickie had 38 points to finish second; and John Green was third on 37 points. 

The best score of the day was in C grade, where Ferdi Bergamin had 43 points off a 21 handicap; Brian Murphy was second on 39 points; and Robert Digala was third on 37 points. 

Balls were won by 22 players with scores of 35 or better. 

Nearest the pin prizes went to Wayne Dahmes (first hole, 130 cm); Tony Dal Corobbo (second hole; 221 cm); George Szentpaly (pig prize second hole; 265 cm); Ferdi Bergamin (10th hole, 790 cm); and Alan Lillia (12th hole, 80 cm).

The medley Stableford on January 1 was won by Geoff Cameron who scored 38 points; Anthony Harmes and Bev Matthews both had 34 points to finish second and third respectively; and Susan Walmsely and Ruth Rodi scored 33 and 32 respectively to win a ball each.

The men’s Stableford on January 2 attracted 92 players and was in three grades. 

Josh McAskill won A grade by scoring 39 points; and Steve Crawford and Paul Leonard finished second and third respectively, both on 38 points. 

B grade was won by Gavin Harrington who scored 36 points and won the countback on 36 points from Bruce Dickie; and Ron Casey had 35 points to take third place. Fred Stewart won C grade with 38 points; from Ken Stanbrook and Jeff Lay, both on 36 points. 

Twenty players with scores of 33 points or better won a ball; and nearest the pin prizes were won by Nigel Ingram (first hole; 190 cm); Wayne Manley (second hole, 132 cm); David Murray (10th hole; 560 cm); and Paul Leonard (12th hole, 132 cm).

The Mildura veteran men played their usual nine hole single Stableford on Monday. 

The winner was Denis Clarke who scored 42 points and second place went to a visiting golfer, Ryan Russel, who scored 42 points.

HERE we are, finally 2021 has arrived. 

We now need to all be doing our best to make this year one we want to remember, not forget. 

Monday of last week was a beauty for Adam Schelfhout, after his round of 39 points put him on top in the veteran and friends over Rob Arnold (36 points). 

Linda Dickson played a nice game on Tuesday in the 18 hole comp, with her 36 points giving her a win. 

In the nine hole event, Adel Dal Corobbo won, with a fine 20pts. 

The Men’s A grade on Wednesday was won by Wayne Innes with a great score of 38 points. 

A four way count back on 37 points left Seb Raiti in second place, with Brenton Love, Anthony Harmes and Trent Smith missing the cut. 

Darren Knight’s 36 points gave him the win in B grade in front of Dallas Kalms on 35 points. 

The 18 holes on Thursday for the Ladies was taken out by Pat Riordan with 36 points. 

Lyn Delmenico had 17 points in the nine hole comp, collecting the win. 

Friday’s nine hole Medley Stableford saw Rob Arnold come in with a super 22 points to win over Anthony Harmes, four behind on 18 points. 

Kendall Marchment smashed out the best score for the week, winning the men’s Saturday A grade with an excellent 40 points from runner-up Brad Steer on 38 points. 

The winning score in B Grade was 38 points coming from Frank Taperell, with second place going to Neil Lawlor on 36 points. 

Sunday’s medley Stableford was a winner for Jim Callaway after he finished on 38 points from Nic Cairns on 37 points. 

COOMEALLA

DENNIS Williams claimed last Wednesday’s Stableford in A grade with 45 net from Luke Stanbrook’s 42 net, with Larry Frasca third on 39 net.

In B grade the winner was Bernie Sprague with 39 net from Michael Baynes’ 38 net and Paul Hewitt on 37 net.

In C grade the winner was Mathias Moisidis on 42 net from Wayne Scheer on 41 net and Braden Pollard on 40 net.

Balls (28) went to 35 to 45 net.

Nearest the pins went to Aaron Hawkins on the seventh with 94cm, Col Pulham on the 11th with 94cm and Frasca on the 18th with 91cm. 

The women’s winner was Maureen Bailey with 37 net over Sally McOrist with 36 net 

Balls went to 35 net.

Nearest the pins went to Kate Murdoch on the third with 77cm, Ninette Mammone on the seventh with 340cm, Janice Walker on the 11th with 250cm and Mammone again on the 18th with 448cm.

Friday’s medley 18 hole Stableford was won by Jayden Brooks with 41 net from Craig Tung on 38 net.

Balls went from 35 to 41 net.

Nearest the pins were claimed on the third and seventh by Larry Finis with 200cm and 50cm. 

On the 11th Mark Woodhouse was closest with 620cm and on the 18th David Guild landed 680cm from the pin to be closest.

On Saturday in A grade winner Greg Cooke with 43 net.

Runner-up was Ross Robertson with 38 net, third was James Daly with 38net.

B grade went to Tim Nunan on 38 net on a count back over Brad Mottram.

Third was Ray Oliver with 37 net.

Balls (18) went to 33 to 43 net. 

Nearest the pins went to Walter Schulz on the seventh (177cm), Cameron Stewart on the 11th with 245cm and Roy Costa on the 18th with 320cm.

In the women’s Lee Bottomley was the winner with 36 net, from Sally McOrist on 29 net

Nearest the pins went to Cath Eddie on the third with 105cm, Lee Bottomley on the seventh with 549cm and Sally McOrist on the 18th with 30cm. 

Sunday’s medley Stableford winner was Aaron Duck with 40 net on countback from Ben Duscher, with James Bate third on 39 points also after a count back from Peter Bicker.

Balls went to 34-40 net.

On the third hole Michael Golitschenko claimed nearest the pin with 220cm, on the seventh it was Stuart Ferguson with 230cm, on the 11th it was Lee Bottomley with 276cm and Jai Hudson got closest on the 18th with 54cm.

WENTWORTH

THE Potty Run winner for Tuesday won by Rick Hillier with plus 2.

In Thursday’s Stableford, club champion Ron Moore continued his good form with 38 points to hold off all comers.

New member Jeff Woodroffe showed a big improvement in his game with 37 points to finish runner-up, maybe bring the nephew every week Jeff.

Ball winners: Ged Chapman (35) and Glen Walker (34). Nearest the pin: Jeff Woodroffe 450cm on the second.

Mr Risky went to the North School with Bill Murray having 29 points.

Sunday’s Stroke round went to Damian Fairley on 68 net — all competitors are hoping Damian enjoys his new adventure.

Runner-up: John Stephens 71 net.

Ball winners: Bill Slee 73 net and Col Stewart 74 net.

Nearest the pin: Bill Slee 190cm on the 17th.

Mr Risky went to “I don’t like Sundays” Glen Walker with 84 net.

MERBEIN

THE last comp round of the 2020 year last Wednesday was a par event won by Jason Finch at +1 over Graeme Kerr on 0. 

Graeme Dunne swung into the new year with a cracker of a round taking out the first monthly medal (and meat tray) of 2021, scoring an 89/65 to get over the top of the ever-consistent Mike

Thomson with 73/70.
