MILDURA

THE Mildura men played single stableford in three grades on Wednesday, December 23.

The A grade winner was Wayne Gill who scored 39 points; second was Josef Moisidis on 38, and third went to Jamie Lanyon on 37 points. 

Ross Williams had 37 points and won B grade, from Jason Marks and Gavin Harrington both on 36 points. 

In C grade, the winner was Paul Wilton who scored 38 points; Robin Hubble was second on 37 points, and third went to Peter Palazzo on 34 points. 

Balls were awarded to 22 players with 33 points or better. Nearest the in prizes went to Joe Rocca (first hole, 38 cm); George Szentpaly (second hole, 595 cm which also won the Pig prize); Andrew

Keogh (twelveth hole, 600 cm); and Peter Dooley (twelveth hole, 203 cm). Balls were won by 22 players with scores of 33 points or better.

The 4BBB stableford medley competition on Saturday, December 26 was won by Cliff Ferguson and Steve Reberger who finished with 45 points, of which 25 were accumulated on the back nine. 

Tony Beyen and Tom Crouch also had 45 points and were second on countback; and Ray Quirk and Joe Rocca scored 44 points to finish third. 

Balls were awarded to 20 pairs with gross scores of 96 or better. 

The nearest the pin prizes were won by Lochie Crouch (first hole, 140 cm); and P Rodi (12th hole, 90 cm). Aaron Clarke had an eagle on the 8th hole.

The Mildura men’s veterans stableford competition on Monday, December 28 resulted in a win to Steven Fumberger who scored 37 points. John Williams was second with 36 points.

NTP prizes were won by Doug Matthews on the second hole, and Frank Tippett on the 12th hole.

Golf competitions at Mildura Golf Club for the next week: Men’s single stableford on Wednesday, December 30; medley stableford on Friday, January 1; single stableford on Saturday, January 2; a medley stableford and social golf on Sunday, January 3; Mildura veteran golfers stableford on Monday, January 4; ladies 9/18 hole stableford on Tuesday, January 5; and single stroke for the men’s monthly mug on Wednesday, January 6.

RIVERSIDE

Monday, December 21 saw John Denman play a fine round of 39pts, to win, with runner up John Fraser on 38pts.

The ladies’ 18-hole comp on Tuesday was won by Tracey Lee, after she came in with the better back nine over Roylene Bailey, both on 35pts.

Lauris Hicks, on 18pts, also had to contend with a count back, in the nine hole, winning from Pat Riordan. 

Wednesday’s A Grade winner brought up the third count back for the week, with Ray Cottle, just sneaking in over Simon Dale, both on 39pts. 

The B Grade was taken out by Adam Schelfhout, after an excellent 40pts, in front of Jimmy Stephen on 39pts.

Tracey Bryan’s 37pts gave her a nice win on Thursday in the ladies’s stableford.

With no comp on the Friday or Saturday, the Sunday Medley Stableford was a beauty for Mick Innes, firing up for a comfortable win, after his mighty round of 40pts. 

It was a three-way countback for second place and Kendall Marchment edged out the Craig Douglass and James Taylor, all on 36pts.

MERBEIN

The Royal has enjoyed a great Christmas period of golf over the past week with Wednesday proving to be a tough day for scoring, where Tom Crouch got over the line via a countback to Glen Wallis both scoring 36 points.

Saturday saw the win go to Steve Russell on 38 points over Graeme Dunne on 37 points.
