WENTWORTH Golf Club captain Bill Slee had a convincing win in Thursday’s Stableford.
Slee scored 41 points to comfortably defeat runner-up Donny Sproh, who finished with 31 points.
NTP was: Glen ‘The Phantom’ Walker (eighth, 370).
Mrs Risky went to Annette Green with just 17 points.
Sunday’s stroke was won by Sproh with 69 net. Runner-up was Ron Moore (72).
The NTP was again ‘The Phantom’ with 150cm on the eighth.
Mr Risky went to the president, Jim Jacobs, with 88 net.
COOMEALLA
PERFECT conditions were accompanied by some good scoring during last Wednesday’s Stableford event at Coomealla Golf Club.
Neil Saunders scored a narrow win in A Grade, his 41 points enough to beat Sandra Hunt, who finished with 40. Third went to David Martin (39).
NTP: lan Scorer (third, 949cm, and Kaylene Geddes, 400), Dion Harris (seventh, 160, and Sonya Golitschenko 590) and Harris (18th, 270, and Golitschenko, 540).
Friday’s medley nine-hole Stableford was won by Barry Waters with 25 points. Runner-up was Chris Gurney (22).
NTP was: Ross Robertson (18th, 131).
Saturday’s ladies’ winner was Sharon Morrell (44) from Michelle Blair (39).
NTPs were: Lynda Saunders (third, 153), Golitschenko (seventh, 225), Blair (11th, 68) and Sue Laird (18th, 0).
Sunday’s medley Stableford winner was Jayden Brooks with 45 points, ahead of runner-up Clinton Leavold (40).
NTPs were: David McDonnell (11th, 700) and Steve Morrell (18th, 478).
Coming events: Today: Men’s Stableford, ladies’ Stableford. Friday: Medley nine-hole Stableford. Saturday and Sunday: Ladies’ and men’s medley Stableford.
VETERANS
AS I write this article, regional Victoria is eagerly awaiting the Premier’s announcement regarding the easing of COVID-19 restrictions.
We are expecting a relaxation of the restrictions placed on country Victoria and the likelihood we can conduct our next district event scheduled for Monday, October 5, which is a Stableford competition.
Just as we did at Red Cliffs a little more than six weeks ago, we will conduct a COVID-19 compliant day.
Once we have a clearer idea, we will be contacting the golf club to verify that the event will be run.
We can assume that we will have to comply with requirements similar to our last game.
Social distancing, restricted numbers, no shared carts, no rented carts without medical reasons, face masks and playing in pairs will no doubt stay as conditions that have to be met.
Once again, the registration cost will be $10 and that will cover the green fees as no meal can be served.
Hopefully take-away food and drinks may be available.
The opportunity to play at another venue, support a district club and enjoy the company of district players are all great motives for us to support this day.
This should encourage a good field to attend. The Merbein club has also added the extra challenge of a new bunker as well as maintaining the course in great condition.
I have my fingers crossed that it all comes together to make this day possible. We will keep you informed.
