RED CLIFFS
ON Wednesday, July 22, the ladies played a three ball Classic, Jill Eyles, Jan Boyce and Dee Hopkins won the day on 87 points from Jill Gleeson, Fran Mackay and Wendy Abraham on 83 points.
Two grades in the men’s comp again, A grade was won by Jamie Wood on a countback from Michael Hogan both on 36 points. B grade winner was Tom Ryan on 39 points from Keith Rogers on 37.
Saturday was Presidents Day 4BBB Stableford and the rain deterred a few people from playing but it really only lasted for the first couple of holes then it was fine.
The winners were Steven Forrest and Jamie Wood on 47 points from Rohan Hillier and Wayne Smith on 45 points on a three way countback.

Coming up this week we have the ladies playing the first round of match play, while the men will play Stableford hitting off the white markers.
Saturday is the first round of the men’s club championships and the ladies will play Stableford. Sunday will be the second round of club championships for the men, the final round will be played the following Saturday.
WENTWORTH
THURSDAY’S Stableford was won by Garry Bourke with 36 points.
Runner-up went to Ged Chapman with 34 points.
NTP: Donny Sproh 236 cm on the 12th.
Mr Risky went to Howard Hankinson with 27 points.
Sunday’s stroke event was won by Garry Bourke who is in a rich vain of form, producing a 65 net to dominate the field.
Next best was wiley Bill Murray on 74 net.
NTP: with 1100cm Garry Bourke.
Mr Risky went to Bill Slee with a poor 82 net.
Course maintenance will be undertaken over the next few months.
COOMEALLA
WEDNESDAY’S A grade winner was Andrew Rix with 41 net. runner-up Ken Sudholdz 38 net and third was Joe Morello 38 net.

MERBEIN
SHANE Cordell was Wednesday’s Stableford winner defeating Matt Vining by two points, finishing with 39 points.
On Saturday Graeme Dunne and John Bell combined to win the 4BBB Stableford with 47 points, narrowly defeating Shaddy and Doggie on 46 points.
Saturday, with a predicted temperature of 22 degrees, should be perfect conditions for the monthly medal.
All visitors are welcome to come and play. Just remember to try and pre-organise your groups, pay and book in at the clubhouse, then go and enjoy your round.

RIVERSIDE
RIVERSIDE has seen most of their competitions in the past week producing large fields, with the border closure meaning many of Coomealla’s players are enjoying our fairways for the time being.
Monday’s veteran and friends was won by George Mason with a fine 39 points over Jim Callaway on 38 points.
The ladies nine hole Stableford on Tuesday belonged to Val Berry who put together a mighty 24 points to win, four points in front of Caroline James and Val Easterbrook, both on 20 points.
In the 18 hole event, three players fought it out for the placings. Ayse Jewitt took the win, with Marie Hudak and Anne Parker missing the cut, all on 34 points.
Wednesday’s Monthly Medal for the men had Barry Pilgrim coming away with the score of the day and the Medal, after an excellent (79/70).
The A grade winner was Michael Holcroft (79/72), in front of a line of three players on 73 nett. Graeme Southwell (87/73) grabbed runner-up, followed by Paul Wilkinson and Michael Baynes.
John Denman took the honors in B grade, with a great score of (92/71) over Jerry Stephens (93/72).
With perfect weather on Thursday, the ladies played a Stableford in two grades.
Dot Knight made the most of her 35 points, to win A grade with Lorraine Palmer sneaking into second place on 34 points, after a four way count back against Fiona Turlan, Caroline James and Adel Dal Corobbo.
Friday’s nine hole medley Stableford also needed a count back, with Lachlan Inglis winning, over Michael Slatter, both on a pleasing 23 points.
Ayse Jewitt maintained her good form for the week, collecting the monthly wward in the Saturday ladies comp, after a score of (101/73).
Sandy Briggs (93/74) came out the better in a count back for runner-up against Janet Luke (89/74).
Stroke and Monthly Medal for the men on Saturday was in three grades.
Riversides manager, David Gardiner had a fantastic (80/70) in A grade, second place went to Ian Dickason (81/71) on a count back with Larry Cavallaro.
George Riordan also had a terrific round in B grade to win with a (87/70), followed by Dwaine White (89/72).
But the best scoring for the week came in C grade, after Peter Williams smashed his way to the top with a sizzling (87/62). Ian Petrac’s score would normally have given him a win but he had to settle for runner-up with his (88/67).
Graeme Irvin was all smilies after his eagle on the par five, 5th hole.
Mark Luitjes had a super game on Sunday, winning with 42 points, over Cliff Cooke on a very fine 40 points.

VETERANS
MONDAY’S district veteran’s golf event at Red Cliffs will be a single Stableford competition.
Players are requested to finalise registrations before 9am and to adhere to safe distancing requirements while waiting to be allocated a starting tee.
Registrations commence at 8.30am and must close on time.
The cost will be the usual $10 to cover green fees and competition entry. Food will not be available, but drinks can be purchased from the club.
Tony would appreciate the correct money to minimise manual handling of cash and will collect names, phone numbers and postcodes as part of the registration process.
NTP prizes are awarded for every par three with an honesty system in play.
Players can step out the distance from the cup or an optional tape measure can be carried and used exclusively by its owner for accurate measurements for very close shots.
The flag stick cannot be used. All measurements must be recorded on the score card. Completed cards are to be left at the registration table.
Players are required to sign their own card after checking it’s accuracy with a nominated marker whose name needs to recorded.
In accordance with COVID-19 requirements there will not be a presentation but winners will be contacted and prizes distributed.
No carts can be shared and players are to maintain a one and a half metre distance from each other during the round.
It will be great to restart our district program so it’s hoped that we have a good field. I will see you there.
MILDURA
THE ladies Stableford competitions on Friday, July 24 and Saturday, July 25 resulted in a win to
Sophie Crouch who scored 36 points; Bev Matthews was second on 35 points, and Kim Ingram and Stephanie Baker were equal third on 34 points each.
The mens Stableford competition on last Saturday was in three grades. A grade was won by Chris Williams who scored 37 points, from Lee Tucker and Rob Toms, both on 36 points.
Paul Hewitt scored 38 points to win B grade from Ron Casey and Gavan Tellefson, both on 37 points. The winner in C grade was Rod Truman who scored 38 points, Wayne Brice was second on 35 points, and Peter Palazzo had 34 points for third.
Balls were awarded to players with 34 points or better on a countback. The NTP prizes went to Paul Treacy (1st, 600 cm); Sam Smythe (2nd 450 cm); Peter Miatke (2nd hole, pig prize, 540 cm); Noel Hedwards (10th hole, 156 cm); Paul Hewitt (12th hole, 176 cm); and Chris Williams won the eagle’s nest on the third hole.
The Stableford medley competition on Sunday, July 26 was won by Craig Jukes who scored 41 points, and Joe Rocca was second on 40 points. Balls were awarded to five players with scores of 34 points or better.
The Mildura veteran mens competition last Monday had a good field of 32 players. John Edwards scored 37 points to win on countback from Steve Peters, and Terry Fitzpatrick was third on 36 points.
Golf events at Mildura over the next week are mens Stableford today; single Stableford for ladies and men on Friday and Saturday; social golf on Sunday, August 2, followed by single Stableford events for the veteran men on Monday, August 3, with ladies on Tuesday, August 4, and men on Wednesday, August 5.
