Greg Rhodes claims another crown

GREG Rhodes has won this year’s Coomealla Senior Open.

Normally played over three days, the event was reduced to a two-day event because of the coronavirus restrictions.

Despite the shortened schedule, it attracted record numbers with 94 men taking part and 26 ladies.

Rhodes was at his brilliant best over the rounds, shooting a 67 on the opening day, followed by an impressive 72 for a combined score of 139, well clear of his nearest rival, Gordon Clancey, who had rounds of 75 and 77 for 152.

It is the fourth time Rhodes has won the event, adding to many other titles he has claimed around the region over recent years.

Rhodes also claimed the A Grade title with a net score of 141, defeating Greg Walsh (148).

In B Grade, Gary Johnstone was rewarded for his consistency – finishing with 148 (net) to defeat John Wilson (152).

C Grade went to Colin Morrow (145) from Dave Doering (147).

The ladies played Stableford with Jane Wall taking out the scratch event with 67 points from Helen Pascoe (61).

Lynda Saunders was the Stableford winner with 74 points from Sharyn Wilson (69).
