VETERANS

THE Ouyen Golf Club’s committee met last week and decided to postpone the district Vet’s competition for a month.

The current COVID-19 restrictions make it difficult for them to stage the event and so have rescheduled the event to July 20.

Our next planned event will be the Championship Stroke round to be held on July 6 at Riverside.

Over the next four weeks we will be consulting with government and sporting websites to have the most accurate and up-to-date information to allow this event to be staged.

There is a keenness by both our association and the club to provide the best day possible.

Our expectations are that we will have a meal available that we can serve drinks and that a shotgun start will be used.

Expect Greenie to include reminders about social distancing and hygiene rules along with the usual local rules when he addresses the appropriately spaced group at the start of the day.

We know that there is no travelling restrictions between towns, but will clarify how many can travel in the one car.

There is definitely no sharing of carts, but the club has them available for hire.

Perhaps it would be wise to book one as soon as possible.

We will clarify how we might include nearest the pin.

The course is in top condition so we look forward to a great restart to our annual competition.

Each week I will include updates in this report so stay tuned. Keep your fingers crossed.

MERBEIN

PERFECT weather for golf this week and it showed in the scores.

Ryan Teasdale took out Wednesday’s comp with a great 79 off the stick.

We have included another day of competition golf with now being played on a Sunday.

This week’s prize will be a dozen Callaway Chromesoft balls and a Callaway hat. Hit-off between 9am and 11am.

There is still plenty of space to come and play socially as well.

Our new bunker on the 12th will be in play in the coming weeks.

We also hope to have an update on the start of our clubhouse in the coming weeks.
