VETERANS
Preparations for this month’s district vets event scheduled for Ouyen on June 22 are being finalised. It is a 4BBB Stableford game planned to commence at the usual time of 9:30. A feasibility plan is being finalised by the committee. The events viability depends on several factors. It is an opportunity to restart monthly district events after the enforced Covid 19 restrictions came into force.
Importantly there has to be sufficient interest from district players. Members are asked to discuss with their veteran golfer committee member whether or not they are likely to play.
The situation is ever changing so I will continually fact check the following information.
Up to 50 people can attend and drinks would be available with a meal. A four square metre rule applies in the club house restricting numbers top 25 inside providing seating arrangements comply with social distancing regulations.
It is expected that a shotgun start is permissible but the one person per cart rule remains. A limited number of carts will be available from the club. Gloves will be issued for those who wish to rake the scrapes but a local rule makes raking optional. Hand sanitising will be necessary.
The travel arrangements need clarity. The distance will not be an issue but whether players will have to travel in individual cars is not clear.
With this information players need to decide whether or not to compete. I will contact each clubs committee member to finalise numbers.
