VETERANS

THIS is the last veteran’s report of 2019.

The current weather is indicative of the conditions that will remain over summer and the main reason we take an annual break.

Our association’s purpose is to organise and run a district-wide competition for all local veteran golfers that supports district clubs, provides an opportunity to play at other venues and to play with other keen golfers.

The atmosphere is one of a friendly, supportive and enjoyable competition.

With those goals in mind, we have we had a successful year and our last round was our Christmas celebration.

We will next meet as a district group in March next year. Our reports will recommence a few weeks before then to inform and remind members.

Thank you to all of our players for their support over the year.

The sponsors have once again committed their generous support ensuring another great year ahead.

The district clubs have been supportive by preparing the venues, providing lunches and offering a welcoming time at their respective nineteenth hole.

The incentive program will remain in 2019 and a couple of innovations will be investigated.

Firstly, we are looking forward to having an extra event by including a round at Wentworth.

Similar to our current visit to Ouyen, it will be held between monthly competitions.

It will be a welcome return to that course after five or six years.

Secondly, we are investigating the broadening of our membership base by having women members join us.

In the meantime, district clubs will conduct their own veteran competitions and new or intending members are encouraged to acquaint themselves with fellow veterans at these events.

Merry Christmas to all of the people associated with our group and I hope you have a safe and prosperous new year. See you all in March.
