VETERANS

THE countdown to our last event for 2019 is under way.

In a little under two weeks the final district veteran golfers event will take place on December 2.

It will be a single Stableford round held at the Riverside Golf Club.

With the onset of this hotter weather the association takes a break over January and February and recommences in March 2020.

So it’s our last get together of 2019.

Given the time of the year it will also be our Christmas meeting.

Expect additional gifts and a special lunch. As usual an 8.30 registration and a 9.30 shotgun start will see us off for the final time this calendar year.

The cost will remain $20 for competition entry, lunch and green fees for 2020, as does the age requirement of 50 plus.

This is the meeting that we find out who are the recipients of the initiative awards.

Three winners from both A and B Grades will be rewarded for their regular attendance throughout the year.

Reports tabled at the AGM show that we have had another successful year.

We are financially sound but membership is slightly down.  Numbers at events are important as they allow for good social and competition days.

It is a case of the more the merrier.

Recent initiatives include giving current members free annual subscriptions and lowering the member eligibility age to 50.

We have agreed to investigate increasing our numbers further by extending an invitation for women golfers to become members from next year.

All Intending and new members are extended an invitation to join now in readiness for a new season of vets golf.

Just come along to our next event.

Until next time, happy golfing.
