COOMEALLA

LAST Wednesday’s men’s par A grade winner was Jack Budd (+4), runner-up was Greg Chandler (+3), third was Phillip Moisidis (+3).

The B grade winner was Robert Armstrong (+7), runner-up was Pat Murphy (square), third was Noel Thomas (square).

NTP on the third was Chris Gurney (430cm), on the seventh Nathan Gard (167cm), on the 11th Greg Rhodes (203cm), on the 18th Craig Tung (545cm).

Last Wednesday’s ladies’ stroke Medallist of the Year playoff winner was Kate Murdoch (83/11/72 net), and runner-up Adel Dal Corobbo was (97/24/73 net).

NTP on the third Kate Murdoch, on the seventh Lee Bottomley (448cm), on the 11th Jenny Smith (27cm), on the 18th Nia Whittle (130cm).
Medallist of the Year was Adel Dal Corobbo.

Last Friday the medley nine-hole Stableford winner was Sally McOrist (21 points) and runner-up was Barry Waters (19).

NTP on the 11th was Sally McOrist (115cm), on the 18th Troy Neville (620cm).

Saturday’s men’s stroke monthly medal A grade winner was Nathan Gard (71/69 net), runner-up was Cameron Stewart (74/73 net), third was Craig Maddigan (99/73 net).

NTP at the third was Mark Woodhouse (205cm), at the seventh Ivan McKenzie (167cm), at the 11th Ross Robertson (618cm), at the 18th Matthew Pasco (260cm).

The ladies’ Stableford winner was Lee Bottomley (31 points). Sunday’s Stableford medley winner was Tony Dal Corobbo (41 points), runner-up was Wally Schulz (38), and third was Mark Johns (38).

Coming events: Today’s play is the men’s Stableford Monthly Mug Playoff, and for the women there is par. 

On Friday there will be medley nine-hole Stableford.

On Saturday men and ladies play, on Sunday there is a medley nine-hole Stableford. The ladies’ annual presentation dinner is on Monday at 6.45pm.

Names should go to G. Albion. 

The club’s AGM on November 19 starts at the golf club at 7pm. Any items for general business should be given to the secretary by November 15.

RIVERSIDE

WITH the winter season coming to an end, the ladies held their 2019 wind-up day, presentations and election of new office-bearers.

Janet Luke has been one of the ladies’ co-captains through the past year and has done an excellent job. 

She will step down and Linda Young will be the stand-alone captain for 2020. 

May Connolly will continue as vice-captain, while Leonie Nott will step down as Helen Burke accepts the position of president for the ladies’ subcommittee.

On Monday the winner of the Veteran and Friends comp was Jim Callaway with a fine 37 points over Peter George on 36.
In the ladies’ Tuesday Stableford, Pat ­Riordan made the most of her 33 points for a win.

NTPs were Jill Richardson (fourth, 53cm), Roz Nash (seventh, 605cm, and 12th, 35cm) and Kaye Ballantyne (18th, 114cm).

Par was the competition for the men on Wednesday, in two grades. Alec Cattanach had a ripper, producing a super +5 to win A grade from Alan Connolly on a very nice +3.

In B grade, John Denman also had a stunning round, with another +5, producing a win. James Minns was very close behind, grabbing the runner-up position on +4.

NTPs were John Wass (fourth, 15cm), John Fraser (seventh, 178cm), Chris Curley (12th, 9cm and 17th, 420cm) and Paul Danenberg (18th, 190cm).

The ladies played a 4BBB nine-hole Stableford for their wind-up day and the pair of Prue Hyde and Lauris Hicks had a beautiful game, finishing the round with a winning score of 20 points. 

There were six pairs on 19 points, with May Connolly and Jen Leach picking up second place after a countback. 

The pairs who just missed, were Cath Kent and Janet Luke, Di Benham and Chitra Rankin, Esther Tamata and Pat Riordan and Verna Wakefield and Marie Hudak.

NTPs were Carol Benning (12th, 134cm) and Leonie Nott (18th, 14cm).

The nine-hole medley Stableford on Friday needed a three-way countback to determine the placings, with a father-son combination taking it out in the finish.

Aaron Wilkie snatched the top spot, leaving dad Jeff to accept runner-up, with James Minns just missing the cut, all on 21 points.

NTPs were Ken Wakefield on the second, Warrick Fisher on the fourth and ninth, David Woolcock on the fifth, David Gardiner on the seventh and Jeff Wilkie on the eighth.

On a very rainy day, the men played stroke for the Medallist of the Year prize on Saturday. 

In A grade, Larry Cavallaro’s 81/72 gave him the win, with Brad Steer (77/74) runner-up and Steve Spooner (85/76) third.

Michael Marchment (88/73) was the winner of B grade, from Tezza Simpson (90/74) on a countback from Ned Klemm (90/74).

It was a lovely 97/68 from James Minns in C grade to comfortably collect the win. 

A three-way countback on 76 gave Michael Slatter second place, Tuarii Turaki third and Ken Hornsby just missed out.

NTPs were Michael Holcroft (fourth, 285cm), Ray Cottle (seventh, 505cm), Kendall Marchment (12th, 720cm), Jordan White (17th, 715cm) and Tony Coppola (18th, 258cm).

Sunday’s medley Stableford was a great day for David Williams, swinging into action and finishing with an excellent 41 points. James Minns was runner-up on 37 points.

NTPs were Steve Spooner on both (fourth, 682cm and 12th, 924cm), David Williams (seventh, 610cm) and Mick Innes (18th, 160cm).

The Riverside AGM will be held on November 26 at 7pm. 

Today’s play will be Stableford, on Thursday the ladies play nine-hole four-person better ball. Shotgun start 9am. Bring a plate please: 0-26 sweets, 27-45 savoury. On Friday is all-day play nine-hole medley Stableford. On Saturday the men play the Drummond Stableford and the ladies stableford. On Sunday there will be medley Stableford.

RED CLIFFS

ON Wednesday the ladies played a blind-draw four-ball aggregate.

Jan Boyce and Sally Jones were the winners on 74 points from Kath Cattanach and Faye Englefield on 68.

NTP at the third was Deb Hassell; at the eighth Jill Gleeson,  at the 12th Jan Boyce, at the 15th Faye Englefield, at the 17th Rita Chase.

Winner in the men’s Stableford competition was Jeffrey Scott on a countback from Neville Birch, both on 34 points. 

NTP at the eighth was Michael Hogan, at the 12th Jeffrey Scott, at the 17th 

Bill Woosnam, and at the 18th Neville Birch.

In Saturday’s medley Stableford, 23 brave souls battled the wet conditions. Winners for the men were Steve Farley on 37 points from Michael Hogan on 33.The ladies’ winners were Faye Englefield on 28 points from Ruth Cupper on 27. 

Steve Farley won the NTP on the third, fifth, ninthth, 15th and 18th, Jeffrey Scott at the eighth, at Ken Woosnam at the 12th. 

For the ladies, Jill Gleeson was NTP on the third, eighth and 15th, and Julianne Wood at the 12th.

Coming up on Wednesday, the men will play Stableford and the ladies have Captain’s Pick. 

Saturday’s game will be stroke for both ladies and men, with the men playing off for the Medallist of the Year competition.

MERBEIN

WILD weather at the end of the week proved a bit too adverse to play in.

Michael Cook played well on Friday night in the dust, scoring an easy 21 points and scoring a couple of nearest pins through the week as well.

Wednesday’s winner was F. Crouch (36 points), runner-up was R. Walder (35 points) and third was M. Cook (33 points).

NTP at the third was S. Cordell (220cm), and at the 16th G. Kerr (240cm).

The Friday night winner was M. Cook (21 points).

The Saturday winner was M. Thomson (74/71), and runner-up C, Hocking (83/71).

NTP at the second was M. Cook (12cm), at the third C. Hocking (405cm), at the 16th G. Kerr 240cm, at the 18th K. Matulick (555cm).

On Wednesday there will be Stableford, on Friday a twilight nine-hole Stableford, on Saturday par, and on Sunday the SRS golf day Ambrose in fours, with entry $30 each or $120 team of four and a 10.30am hit-off.

MILDURA

THE ladies played single Stableford last Tuesday and the winner was Sandra Hutchinson, who scored 40 points. 

Glenda Hiskins was second on 35 points and Eily Raeck and Dianne Smart both had 31 points to finish third and fourth respectively. 

The nearest the pin prizes went to Sandra Hutchinson (second, 605cm) Ruth Rodi (10th, 17 cm) and Rhonda Young (12th, 507cm).

The men played single par in two grades last Wednesday. 

Club president Steven Fumberger scored +3 for a win in A grade, Philip Nash was second on +2 and Peter Rhodes scored +1 to finish third. 

The placegetters in B grade were decided by a three-way countback on +1, which resulted in a win to Simon Kelly, second place to Peter Dooley and Robert Shipsides was third. 

Nearest the pin prizes were won by ­Andrew Litchfield (first, 90cm), Jamie ­Lanyon (second and the pig prize, 578cm), Cesare Fraiia (12th, 410cm) and two ­golfers (Wayne Dahmes and Trevor ­Rogers) both had 86cm on the 18th hole.

The Telstra Twilight competition on Friday was won by Sandra Hutchinson, who scored 21 points, Alan Smith had 20 points for second and Ruth Rodi was third on 19 points.

A big field of golfers played single stroke in three grades for the monthly medals on Saturday. 

In A grade a three-way countback on net 71 was required, which resulted in a win to Andrew Keogh and Trevor Riordan was second, with Steven Fumberger coming in in third place. 

Robert Briggs won B grade with net 71, Craig Wright had 73 for second 
and Michael Sette was third with net 74. 

Scores were also good in C grade, where Peter Palazzo won with net 71, on countback from Frank Tippett and ­Peter Briggs scored net 72 for third place. 

Nearest the pin prizes went to David Murray (first, 140cm), Peter Miatke (second, 348 cm), Steve Crawford (12th, 299cm) and Steven Fumberger (18th, 184cm).

Golf events for the next week at Mildura are a men’s single stroke today, ladies’ Oaks Day nine-hole Stableford on Thursday, the Telstra Twilight nine-hole Stableford and ladies’ 18-hole Stableford on Friday, single Stableford for men and ladies on Saturday, men’s 27-hole 4BBB par (diehards’ day) on Sunday, Mildura Veterans’ Stableford on Monday, ladies’ nine-hole Stableford and yearly awards on November 12 and a men’s 4BB par single stroke on November 13.
